When I read other reports I'm seeing total time played upwards over 15+ hours, sometimes more. At this point I'm really curious as to what this is all about, my average Noble/normal speed game runs less that three hours, the longest game I've played was on Epic speed and it was slightly over four hours.

I'm just curious if this is normal, or if I'm doing unnacceptibly little warmongering or something. ;)

I play marathon now in SP. But I play on huge maps also which make my games stretch on. Usually I only put about 10-12 civs on a huge map so that empires can actually be larger and not only consist of 5-10 cities per civ. Usually in my games most civs end up with 12-20 cities a piece.

Edit: I dont know my playtimes as I dont really pay attention but I can tell you it takes me anywhere between 3 and 7 days to complete a game if I play for 2-4 hrs a night.

I play Huge Diety maps, they take me forever, a minimum of 30 hrs...you just gotta micromanage EVERYTHING and can't make any mistakes...

Maybe you're not micromanaging your cities and you are automating your workers. You should really think about a decision and weigh your options.

I play large/huge maps, 12 civs, marathon speed, and on Prince level. My games normally takes about 20-25 hours. :wow:

Civ4 is coming in the mail soon (hopefully by Friday)... I don't understand the concept of Epic or Marathon or whatever those speeds are... they didn't have them in Civ3. What changes when you play different speeds?

I always play marathon large games on prince. I would like to play huge but my computer won't let me. It always takes between 20 and 25 hours.

my marathon standard on warlord have been comming in at about 4 hrs or less... depending on what type of victory I was shooting for...

I semi automate my workers... and I could focus more on my city dealings... I do however shoot for either culture blooming a city or making it a financal stronghold...

My games usually last 10-15 hours on normal size maps and mostly epic speed.

Hmm, no I always micromanage my cities (never my specialists though) and my workers (until railroads). Sometimes I'll put one on trade route detail but that's about it. I'm thinking that this is mostly war related since I usually only have one (around 500 BC to deal that aggressive neighbour, or any neighbour :crazyeye: ) but after that I tend not to get in long engagements.

Mine usually take about 6 hours.

Larger maps don't work for my computer so my games are usually 1-2 hours.

5 to 8 hours, small maps (pangaea/terra) with 8-10 civs. The begin and end of the game move pretty quickly. The wars in the middle take a lot of time.

Huge maps, marathon speed, monarch level... generaly 8-9 hours play time per game, and often some of that is idle time while I cook, shower, or keep my girlfriend happy.

I don't micromanage much and usualy beat the game at monarch. I'm not interested in moving up to a higher level because I don't enjoying micromanagement of the type required for this game. It's just not very interesting.

My games vary, depending on the size. I much prefer the huge games, with lots of Civs. But, you have got to watch every last piece of the civ move. You can't automate your workers...EVER!!!!!!!! Micromanagement is the only way to win.

I have yet to win. But, I am getting closer. :)

I play on Normal speed, and Standard size map with 6 other civs. I'm the peaceful builder type, so my games go by pretty fast, usually 3 or 4 hours.

Ordinary settings, standard map, very long games because I leave it running on one machine while doing other stuff on other computers. :-} I couldn't begin to guess what my actual in-game time is like, but it's pretty slow-paced too. Just call me Adagio.
