Well I "binge"... so even long 20+ hour games takes Days, not Weeks for me to finish, but I take long breaks between each game so I really don't play that much.

And also, by the time I hit Industrial and start feeling comfortable, I start automating stuff like workers to reduce MM.

Many games i never finished.

I create some game, play it a while, then don't play it for a week. After that week, i start something else usually because i like fresh starts and the old game always looks messy if you're no longer "into it".

Gotm's i played quite some more than i actually submitted. Some i simply didn't manage to finish in time. Some others i abandoned because i always had the "there is the winner and then the best of the losers" philosophy. In other words, only the gold medal is acceptable to me. Since the gotm difficulty is never high enough to be a chalenge for victory, the only chalenge is the victory in the gotm against the other players. Had a few games where i saw i wouldn't get gold and quit those.
I know it's weak and stuff like that, but i just can't get myself to play and try for a second place. Simply because a second place means nothing to me.
(I did make an exception when i went for space for the first time and actually submitted my 7th place)

The games i do finish usually take 3-4 weeks.

Something between weeks to months, 'cos I have many other games to learn and to play and things to do. Like now it try to play a little bit of Civ, little bit of Act of War, trying to learn Steel Panthers: Main Battle Tank. Plus I have to go to work, listen metal and play metal, go out, some sports. Christ i have just too much things to do...well I ain't get bored.

Days, but I have plenty of abandoned but perfectly finishable games that I'll never go back to. xOTMs, I take a bit longer over but usually in the 30-40 hour range, playing time.

I used to "binge" play on weekends, but just got married (again) and I've played only 1 game in the last 6 months. But hope to start a new game soon and finish in a week or so. Trouble is I just moved in with my wife and step-daughter and getting computer time is a major problem.

Usually weeks for me. Sometimes I have too large a gap in game play so I just start a new game.

The last game I won said it took 47 hours but it stretched over weeks because I only play about once a week.

Depends. I usually don't finish my games.

Me either, I had to force myself to finish a game once so that I could legitimately claim to have beaten emporer level, most of the time once it comes to the point of going through the motions there's no point and it is much more fun to start the next game and face the new challenge.

Like Predesad's Emperor game, I like to finish games so that I can rack up the memories in the Hall of Fame. It's for the "Oh yes, I remember when Abu Bakr came from so far behind and finally demolished the run-away Sumerians" kind of thing.

I think I would finish a lot more games if you could retire once you've reached that dominant position from which any or at least one victory condition could be reached without question and it got recorded as a victory. Part of why I play most games through to the victory is that I hate recording a loss even though I've made it to the 'victory is assured mark'. I guess I let the Hall of Fame rule my game play too much.

Oh this is so naughty! :mischief:

I don't have the moral vagueness to mess with it. But thanks for pointing it out!

EDIT: Actually, I can see the score but can you please explain what the other numbers are? I've pasted a section of the file below. Unfortunately my talents lie far away from understanding computers so it's probably perfectly obvious.

Each (space-delimited) value on a line represents:
1: Leader name
2: Civ# (in case you changed the leader's name)
3: Score
4: Level (1=Chieftan)
5: Winning condition (maybe how the AI won!)
6: Win/Loss for human player

(Just in case you want to fake a Sid-level Conquest win ;))

I never finish...

I get to a point in a game where I feel like I'm dominating and get bored.

I keep wanting to try other races, seeing as I've only played the game a couple times since I bought it. That's another incentive for me to start a new game.

Right now I have about 5 games going on at once. >.<

I should probably move up difficulties too.
