With all this micro managing and changing which tiles my pop works (cause the comp changes it every time the city grows) my games lengths have extended dramatically. I usually play one or two levels above Noble and a typical game (domination win.... i only play domination, conquest and culture).

Dont know how to do a poll but are you in the range of

< 1hour
1hour <> 2hours
2hours <> 4 hours
4hours <> 5hours
>5hours
>>>>>5hours

Just wondering cause some games i feel like im spreading them out too long, while others i feel im rushing.

before micro managing my games would last ~2hours........ now they last between 4 and 5.

Depends on the game an your comfort at the difficulty level. I'm finishing up a game on monarch that i probably have at least 4-5 hours invested, but it's my first time winning at that difficulty. I can breeze through prince or noble in a couple hours.

I range between 10-20+ hours. Although settings have much to do with it. I play on marathon on a XXL map (modded larger than Huge... I think 1.5-2x the size of "Huge") WHen I play huge maps, it is usually around 10-12 hr games. (Averaged)

if i can complete a full game, which i rarely do anymore, anywhere from 3-5 hours.

right now im playing a game that lasted for 3 hours 20 minutes. right now Sumeria is steam rolling over my best ally, Hattie of Egypt. i purposely canceled a defensive pact beforehand. i don't want to be (prematurely) destroyed.

yes i intend to be destroyed by sumeria. i just want to see how long ill last.

I guess I'm really slow, typically takes me > 40 hr to win a game by domination, playing on epic speed, emporer. I'm trying to get faster, but I do enjoy micromanaging things a lot, and some times I'll reply parts of the game to try a different strategy and see how it works out. by the time I win it's usually around tanks.

I am a prince level player, and I normally do standard maps at normal speed. A typical game for me is in the 7-10 hour range. Usually at the upper end of that range.

Two to five hours, mostly right around the four-hour mark. I'm mostly playing epic-length games right now (running a personal ALC, so outside of the leader, no other settings change), and I tend to play long-range games, planning for the game to last into the Modern Era. (The only two I've had end prior to the Mod Era both ended as AP victories - I don't usually plan for those, and they just sort of... came together for me.) Most games end in either conquest or diplomation wins, usually with a backup victory condition (frequently space, less frequently culture) in the works. (Conquest/diplomation victories tend to be completable in less time from kick-off. To be honest, I usually don't care which sort of victory I get.)

~3 hours. I can and do sub 1 hour games but that requires some micro sacrifices and a fast victory condition like AP, culture, or peaceful UN.

20+ hours

Waste a lot of time with indecision.
for example Where should I build cities? Where to put Great Person Farm? Oh, it's 1700 and no GPF so far - hmmn, where would be a good place to put it?
What do I want to build here?

There was a funny thread last year on how to play slow. I do a lot of that stuff.

Playing the bigger maps on Immortal/Marathon = 20+ hours of "game time" which equates to about a month of RL time.

My average is about 12 hours of actual play time. Prince or Monarch, Standard, Epic.

I tend to think about what I'm doing as I go, and since I'm approaching 40, I now have to take notes to remember everything.

I'm not sure about play time, because I often leave the game running while I do something else and that makes the reported play time inaccurate. Typically it takes me a few long sessions to finish a game. So probably somewhere between 6 and 12 hours; longer for bigger-than-normal maps.

Yeah, Grandma, pretty soon when the diplo screen opens you'll think you have company and offer Monty some hard candy. :p

Really, really long. I only play large and huge maps with 18 civs and only allow Conquest.
So you can guess that it takes forever to complete.

Nope. "Grandma" is going to bash him with her cane. :D

I personally play on Small (or smaller) maps with anyway from 3 to 16 civs. Games typically take me 1 to 4 hours. Multiplayer games at this level typically take 3 to 6 hours.

I play on Huge maps at Marathon... it takes a LONG TIME...
I don't even know how long, but it takes several multi-hour sessions.

4 or 5 hours.

two or three hours of actual gameplay and 1-2 hours of loading / lag in post -~1000 AD turns :)

seriously dont know how you guys put up with the slowness late game playing huge maps and slow speeds, does my head in :)

guess thats a good thing about civ is that it caters to many different tastes.
