Now that Civ IV has gone Gold and you can almost feel that lovely little box in your hand, how many hours do you think your first gaming session will last? I may not get any sleep the first night, but I do have to work the next day so it will be interesting to see how things go.

*Edit* For the purposes of this poll let's say that we are all able to pick up a copy of Civ IV on October 26th. I'll let you figure out what time of day that would be according to your own schedule.

As long as possible, it really depends on when I get it.

Until my wife or kids force me away from the computer :D

But I can't imagine I will be able to get away from the game playing less than 4 hours!

Im gonna pick it up the wednesday at EB after work, but since I work early on thursday, Im gonna force myself to only install it & make sure its ready to run on friday night after work. about 6:00p.m. thats when the fun starts i'll be playing till about 3:00 am sat morning.

Hopefully i'll be able to content myself for two days, with reading the manual and looking at the goodies I got with my pre-order, until I play on Friday night.

Yes, that is funny...my understanding is that we will all have to begin to recite a Civ Fanatics pledge in order to be able to post here in the near future. It will go something like this:

I pledge alliegence to Civ IV of the Firaxian States of America and to 2K Games. For which it stands, One Nation Under Sid, Indivisible, with one more turn For All.

Lets be honest here, if we thought that saying this would give us Civ IV one day earlier we'd all be standing in line to recite that little ditty. :D

Enjoy the new mantra, just let me know how it ends up. I'd be curious to see how popular this could become to a Civ depraved group of gamers. :goodjob:

I've appended the "pledge" to my sig.

Hey, great work. I'll be laughing about that one for days. ;)

It's good to be able to laugh about all of this Civ stuff. Don't get me wrong, this is going to be a great game, but I need a diversion from all of this waiting. I look forward to hearing some comments about your new sig. Here's a little toast to you and all the laughs we can have along the way.

Waiting sucks. I feel like a little kid again, waiting on Christmas. Counting the days... How pathetic is that? WORSE! There is that annoying counter in the top right corner of the forum that is constantly reminding me!

Considering how I'll probably get it in monday evening... I'd say four hours if I neglect my other habits.

    8+ hours.

If I didn't have critical and unavoidable after hours and otherwise important work stuff too next week I'd be taking a day or two off and playing til I passed out on the keyboard...which will likely happen the weekend after releasae anyways. :goodjob:

Roughly around four hours for me....
It's hard to keep track of time when you play Civ, if you know what I mean... ;)

I have a feeling that once in hand... I will most definately miss a meal or two, order out for delivery only to not hear the doorbell cause I'm nuking some hapless fool that wouldn't trade me oil... Then, when I finally realize I need something other than the crumbs I found in my keyboard I will roll the chair out to the kitchen and grab a sandwich on the fly... the next thing that normally happens is the sun comes up and blinds me so I have to finally call it a night but wait... one more turn... I just want to see what is going to happen next...
