How many is too many? Lots of civs and city-states

I saw that I could select about 17 random civs and 48 city-states to play on a Small map. I'm not sure if it's the YnAMP mod that's allowing me to choose this many.

I count around 15 civs and 21 city-states appearing on this map that generated:

It looks interesting to play. Maybe it would be overload, but I'm sure lots of civs and city-states would get conquered during the game.

I'm wondering if anyone else has tried playing such a game and has any thoughts.

Maybe I should try something like this. A game where you don't need to scout, expand, hunt barbs and so on. I like it when early settling is over quickly and you can focus on developing and defending what you got.

18 civs and 24 city states is the default I play on. It's quite fun,

I also recommend using the Gaia Map Script as it generates plenty of space to actually settle one while still retaining a sense of continents.

You can play the regular Terra script and see what happens when you cram too many Civ’s into a small space: Sid Meier’s Thunderdome. It’ll be a fiesta of all war, all the time.
I started a game and there were city-states getting conquered and civs getting eliminated from the game early on.

These are the settings I'm currently using:

Small map size
14 Civs (including player) - up from default 6
21 City-states - up from default 9
7 Religions - up from default 4
Quick game speed

I think Quick game speed works well on the map size and with smaller empires. It looks like YnAMP is unlocking the increased civs/city-states capacity. Increased number of religions I've enabled through modding the files.

I'll check it out. I was testing out the map scripts to try and find something Earth-esque. Here are some examples of map scripts with these settings. Continents map script was unable to place all civs/city-states on the map.
