How much attention do you pay to the score?

I keep a close eye on it all game long. I find it to be surprisingly accurate once you know what things it doesn't account for.

I dont care about any of the score tables nor the power ones when facing AI both are very misleading, power especially so as the AI simply doesnt know how to use the forces it has availiable to it.

Well, the score, GNP and power graphs can all be deceptive. Once you realize their limitations, there is still useful information there. For instance, if you are contemplating a war against your neighbor Tokugawa, and he is behind you in tech, but has a significantly higher power rating than you, it's most likely because he has more units. Probably a bunch of older, weaker units, but it's still good to know.

Many games, I prefer to have a low score. The AI is programmed to be more antagonistic toward high score. (The converse is also true... low score makes the AI more benevolent toward you.)

Otherwise, I could care less. The score is arbitrary and artificially inflates certain types of gameplay which don't have any reflection on skill.

I do pay attention to the score, but just out of curiosity. On higher levels, I expect to be behind for quite a while, so it doesn't bother me to be last in score.

playing above noble, chances are you're going to be a long way behind in score for the early game at least. But when war starts, scores change and power becomes much more important.
