Ok I will say this then, the games I don't finish are killed due to crashes. See bug thread for latest dead game. I believe page 85 or so.

A small sample (games started on 0.32):

Finished:
1-Loss (raging barbs with Orthus appearing nearby and I didn't react appropriately).
1-Tower of Mastery victory (because I never had one - won't try again due to 11+ minutes last turns).
1-Conquest (but as the Doviello, took 52 minutes on a standard map)

Unfinished:
2-Systematic Crash to desktop on turn after saved game loading.
1-Everybody was good, just needed to carry troops to take out the next civ in its valley then the next ones. Looked boring. (Luchuirp, took over Dain the Caswallawn, 3 other civs left). The low Armaggeddon Counter and lack of events due to separated valleys made the game very uninteresting while researching ship techs and then it would just have been an embark army/disembark/take one civ with strong troops/repeat without the other civs intervening because they were busy and the ai doesn't handle landings that well. Count as a victory.
1-Started as Clan of Embers (random start). Played a bit, Decided I didn't like them.
1-Bad position. Luchuirp. Somehow managed to get rid of the Avatar of Wrath but I'd have had to take over the hyper powerful Balseraphs and it looked like it would either fail or take forever. Count as a defeat.
1-Hippus. Too isolated to be able to wage any war before having ships (Creations map, started on a peninsula).
1-Kuriotates. Quit playing after playing a bit and seeing how long it'd take me to get their dragon hero (I already won with them once and don't really think it's worth trying again as they don't seem to have changed enough since last time I played them).
Plus a few games that don't count where the starting civ the random option gave me didn't suit me (I wish you could remove some leaders/civs from the random option).

So I finished 3 in 10.

Under way:
1-May or may not finish it. Will probably finish it because this thred challenges me to and because I want to get more than 330 xp on my best non hero unit.

By switching back from Creations to tectonics/Lakes, and going down one map size, I think I get games I'm more likely to finish. Playing with speed might help too (I must try a fast speed game for a change).

5%-10%

I finish alot more straight civ games because the HOF and gauntlets make the ending exciting. Then it doesn't matter that you are going to win, it's can you win fast enough.

The early-mid game is always best, but once you can thump the AIs at deity then you kind of have to look around for challenges.

As an aside, I'm about 3x as likely to finish a game as Hippus as any other civ. Six movement makes mopping up much more straight forward! And I usually get started before performance becomes an issue.
