How stupid can an AI be?

In a game today I was in a permanent alliance with Catherine, and we were both FAR ahead of all others in tech. We were both around 4000, Frederick at 3100, and Eliziabeth at 1700. Between Catherine any myself we had all of about 2.5 contintents covered.

And Lizzy declares war on us...

Maybe she has a higher Power rating because she's been producing ALOT of units or Another AI paid her in techs to go to war with you.

Elisabeth: "Hmmm, things aren't going too well. Maybe Wlauzon could give me a tech..."

*declares war*

Elisabeth: "NOOOOO wrong button!!!"

An AI team lost the space race, because they built the SS engine
in cities with low production (more than 100 turns).
Yes, they switched cities for the last part.
They only needed this part to win, while I still had to finish
the Apollo Program.

Sad thing is, I did this once. I hit the *alt* button instead of *ctrl*.

Once I signed into a permanent alliance in time to out-run the space race. I had just a few turns left for the Space program, but when we joined together, the program "found" his Space program first, and then told me I could no longer build it.. I assumed he had already built it and cheerily changed production, only to find out that he had not finished it, but was constructing it in the middle of a desert, with 89 turns to go.

I've done that ... as well as be setting up a huge tech trade, like four of mine for six of theirs, when they refuse it, accidentally take away all their techs and click "would you accept this deal?" There's nothing that makes you feel foolish like giving away 7000 beakers worth of tech away to someone whom you're "cautious" with.

I have a recollection from years ago of an AI attacking my catapault to decare war in civ 1 or 2.

That doesn't sound crazy, but they attacked it with a diplomat

The AI has come a long way but it still has far to go!

IIRC, back then catapults couldn't defend themselves so that was a perfectly logical move.

HAHAHAHA

I did that just last night. I had 3 very expensive techs, partly from spamming the light bulbs on Great Folks, and asked for a bunch of his lower techs in return.

Oh well, at least it made him "Friendly" towards me

Nope, cats have always been military units. They only had a defense value of 1, but that means they'd get to fight back, and diplomats didn't have an attack value at all so couldn't hurt them. Maybe the AI was trying to bribe your cat.

Stupider. I was taking a merry stroll to Verlamion with one scout left guarding the city. He then walks out. We destroy the Celts in one fell swoop.
