how to build knights quickly when playing as mongols

hello

im playing as mongol and here is my situation.

i have five horsemen and i can produce them quickly. but the AI has walls now so i would like to produce about five knights as quickly as possible.

i get stirrups in like 18 turns but it will take like 50 turns for me to research divine rights and get access to chivalry.

what are the best ways to build knights as quickly as possible when playing as mongols? i know about warlord's throne and i'm building it in one of my cities right now.

what are the best ways to build knights as quickly as possible when playing as mongols?

Heavy chariots upgrade to knights, so you can make a few heavy chariots and then pay gold to turn them into knights once you unlock stirrups.

In Gathering Storm expansion, the horseman upgrades to the Courser unit, available at Castles tech. This would help get you horseman a little extra oomph.

using your approach Sostratus i don't need to research divine rights which takes ages as mongol. instead i can just research mercenaries and use professional army policy card for cheaper upgrade. thx a lot!

i have a problem. if i aim for upgrading five chariots to five knights that means 15 gold per turn for maintenance (10 gold per turn with conscription). also i need money to actually do the upgrade. where do i get the gold?

ps. i took a city state and civs declared emergency on me. if they fail i get a lot of gold!

You need to build commercial hubs, preferably on rivers, and markets. This makes gold, and increases your Trade Route capacity. Traders can be sent internationally to make gold, too.
