How to change civilizations

What I have found is that the best games can be had by allowing the AI to complete turns until mid ancient or classical era, and then taking control of one of the civilizations. I want to select the weakest civilization. How can I change the civilization that I control?

Nevermind. I've worked it out. Go to world builder, save as a scenario, then start a new game as a scenario.

Also with cheats enabled you can switch players, I don't know if it is as "clean" as what you described though!
