Hi,
i also want to deactivate the influence of the Religion to the diplomatic relationship of Civilizations, or reduce this value in case of different Religions to -1 instead of -3.
(Eventualy rise other factors as balance)
Can anybody help me?

You'll need to edit the Civ4LeaderHeadInfos xml file to accomplish this. Find this tag:

<iDifferentReligionAttitudeChange>X</iDifferentReligionAttitudeChange>

and change it to zero for every leader.

I'm not sure what this tag does:

<iDifferentReligionAttitudeDivisor>X</iDifferentReligionAttitudeDivisor>,

but I think nothing at the moment since all leaders are at -5.

I'd make this modification into a Mod though so you aren't messing with core game files.

@woodelf
great, thank you. :-))
This influence of religion is one of the Points of Civ 4, i realy hate.
The reason ist, that very often you are declared war from civs on the other side of the world, and this is realy mad.
In real world, conflicts are growing from competition about ressources and most conflicts are between staates close-by and friendships or neutral relations are normaly between afar power blocs (this was realistic implemented in all older civgames), for example Friedship: Germany-Italy, Germany-Turkey, France-Poland and Hostility: Germany-France, France-Spain, Germany-Poland, Russia-Poland, Japan-China. History is full of wars between christian european realms, but not between conflicts to other religions. For example I know no war between hinduism and taoism. There are few religios wars, but I think there also where profane causes in background. Furthermore only Christianity and Islam are the missionary Religions.
I think the idea of Religion in civ is a good one, only the implementation ist ****.
