Subject line kinda says it all, since conquests changes the directory structure so much how do I do the GOTM with it installed...

Or would it be best to re-install Civ/CTP in a seperate directory and then patch up and then install the GOTM packs...

Thanks in advance..looking forward to my first GOTM

You should be able to play GOTM by using the Play the World game that comes bundled with Conquests. If you have installed all of the game packs and the one extra pediaicons file then you should have no trouble.

To get to the PTW game, go to Start, Programs, Atari, Civilization III Play the World. If you are still having trouble, can you be more specific with regard to the nature of the problems.

Right on, ok I had held off as I was under the misguided assumption that this was not possible, will grab the packs and start installing!!!!

:)

Zagnut and Space both sat down and confirmed that the Conquests version of PTW works fine with the GOTM. Install in the same way: Use the PTW install packs (GOTM21 full, GOTM22, 23, 24 and 25 add-on packs), and then make sure that you install them to the directory that has your original Civ3 install in it NOT any of the sub directories. :)

Yup just did an install of the GOTM 21 Setup files, threw me for a small loop to select the main
\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III
folder for install and NOT the
\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Civ3PTW
folder but once I got GOTM 21 to load properly with no errors, I loaded the other packs and moved extra PediaIcons.txt file to the
\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Civ3PTW\Scenarios\gotm25\text
Folder and everything seems to be working smootly...

:):)
Onto GOTM 30!!!

oh.

Er, I've had Conquests for awhile, and decided to finally try one of these GOTM's. I downloaded and installed all the GTOM updates for vanilla CivIII, and played the game in vanilla CivIII. Was that bad? I didn't notice anything too screwy, other than a few missing/strange Civilopedia entries and a few missing unit icons in the build chooser. I just figured those were part of the cost of playing a modded game?

I didn't have PTW before getting Conquests, so it never crossed my mind to play the GOTM in PTW...

No -> there is very little difference in the actual GOTM scenarios between PTW and Civ versions. The only thing you are missing out on is things like stack movement. We have tried to make the actual games as close as possible so that no-one is advantaged / disadvantaged by playing one version or the other. :)

Here it works also for me.

Install in your civ directory and open with the exe in the map of ptw

I get stack movement by playing the PTW version? That's reason enough for me! I really missed that (having played a few Conquests epic games). Guess I'll be downloading the PTW GOTM updates for next month. :)

I play Civ 1.29 because that's all that's available for the Mac. But I have stack movement without needing PtW. By stack movement I mean I can select a unit / hit J / click on a destination / they all troop across.

Hi.. :)

I tried to play the GOTM 20 with the GOTM21 installed but there is a missing text in the pediaicon : /

I desinstal/reinstal civ3 and conquest, patch it, then install the GOTM21, and try the GOTM20... it doesn't work :à(

What did I do wrong?

edit: oki for the pediaicon.txt but another problem: the soft can't find "settler/settler.ini"

help... :à/

See my question in your other post. Also, are you sure you are starting up the right executable? Cross posting (same question in two threads) is frowned upon. Which thread do you want to continue this discussion in?
