HOW TO: Import/modify/export LH

I'm having trouble editing stuff in blender.
Buildings work fine, but when I try to import anything with a skeleton (units, LHs), I get this message:

Error: Python script error, check console.

Then all I'll have is a skeleton but no mesh. This error pops up as the progress bar says it's loading animations.

Civ 4 units are nif version 4.2.2.0 but leaderhead are nif version 20.0.0.4 so you have to configure your export script.

Here's what the config screen looks like in Blender - I can't find a place to set the export file type:

If there's no solution to this, does anyone at least have the file format to nif files so I can write a converter myself? They appear to be a text/binary combo so I would need to know what each byte does. Thanks for the help.

go to scripts window. then set the "script configuration" script or something and then edit the Nif exporter.

(i dont know how you got to all those settings, but it should look alot more simple)

This is how I got to the screen posted above. Do I have the wrong script installed or something?

No, I am not aware of an augustus caeser fix. Is that a patch or something? How would that affect the nif scripts in blender?

This happens when I try to load augustus ( or any nif with a skeleton )

Then it will import the skeleton, but no mesh. (It's not that it's not drawing it, it just isn't there)

I will be able to import nifs without skeletons like buildings and such, but I haven't tried exporting them yet. I'm more concerned with making a leaderhead (that's why I posted in this topic). I'm actually trying to edit Suryavarman, not Augustus.

Am I doing something wrong or does my computer just hate me?

BTW - I have no problem writing my own nif converter if I only knew the file format. Why can't gamebryo use .3ds like normal people?

I am having the same problems as you and have been told that the latest version of blender simply doesn't work with nif files yet.

As long as I know, you have to download an older version of blender. On the nifscope site, ask for the Blender version 2.44.

You can find older versions of blender on the blender's site, just look around.

2.44 dude

Okay, more specifically, 2.44 being the new version of blender, what 'older version of blender' will work with the nifscripts? I have blender 2.44 and nifscripts 2.1 and I get the same results as what I posted above.

Please forgive me, I get confused easily :crazyeye:

yeah download the newest version then get the scripts. you have to "dry run" the scripts once, and then you have to configure the version of hte nif in the scripts configuration window.

Sory guys,

I checked right now. My blender version is the 2.43 and works fine
When I downloaded it, i read in somewere something about the blender version, i belive that may be the cause of yours problems..

sory for the misunderstud...

slightly different, im trying to edit cow to bison. But inside blender there are no vertices... what am i doing wrong? vertice mode is on, im in edit mode, its in wireframe mode

thank you

and also, do you know what version of nif resources are?

the question was asking about resource version ;)

do resources perhaps fall under units?
