How To: Make Leaderheads! Ekmek's Guide

Sorry to be posting so much, I was hoping to have this finished tonight so it wouldn't be bugging me on Thanksgiving. But so much for that, anyway I tried yet again with a much cleaner file for you to look at. I redid everything and this time I just shrunk his scalp rather than cutting it off completely. So there are the files if you (or anyone for that matter) wants to play around with it. I've also attached a picture of the NifSkope and circled (in blue) the areas where there are differences in hopes that you might be able to identify what it is that I am doing wrong. Thanks for your help and sorry to bug you so much.

I think the problem is atht you used the akhenaten LH instead of gilgamesh. What Methyl probably did was reshape the leaderhead using nifskope instead of blender. you can edit nifskope by adjusting t he 'scale' like of a trishape or bone and it will shrink and grow it. I avoid this because of the problems when you import.

You might have to start over with te original gilgamesh. i'll try and look at it tomorrow.

Well, alright, for what its worth though I tried the nifswap back onto his leaderhead, if that helps at all. Good luck with it, I think it would make a good LH for Egypt, practically any other Pharaoh.

Well, I tried making him from scratch (ie using the actual Gilgamesh model as a base) and did everything all over again very carefully and deliberately, and the same basic thing happened. Sort of. When I put it together all of the parts matched up the way they are supposed to except the entire body was detatched from the skeleton, I have posted a screen shot and the folder, I tried the nifswap on the original Gilgamesh.

I know I have been asking a lot of you, but if you could just take a look at this and maybe attempt the nifswap yourself (on the original gilgamesh) and maybe identify what I did wrong that would be fantastic.

Hi, I'm working on a leaderhead and i created everything in blender, except somehow i cant seem to able to successfully nif swap it. When I load the lh in game, the body does not follow the animations...
Can someone plz take a look?
Thnx.:)

Note*: Pedro.zip is the custom one, and original.zip is the clean one i based it on. I cant seem to nifswap the one in pedro to the one in the original.

Emperor Pedro II of Brazil. I know you made him already, but I just don't like Napoleon mods, and I felt San Martin's model was too awesome to waste :p.

Thanks:)
The beard is originally Charlemagne's, and I like the texture quality so I didn't change it.

By the way your Gustav/CharlesV/and Pharaoh were all awesome. What are your next plans?

You didn't join the beard/eyebrows with the rest of the model. And after you do that you have to assign them to the jaw and eyebrows respectively. You do that by selecting object (say the beard) and going into edit mode, make sure the whole thing (the beard) is selected (it should be yellow) and then go back to object mode. Hold shift and click on the body (I usually click on the face/nose just to make sure I am selecting the right thing) and click on object then select join objects. After that go right back into edit mode, the beard should still be selected. On the bottom left there is a little thing that says assign, select, deselect etc. In the window pick the jaw and then click on assign. This should assign the beard to the jaw. Repeat this process with the eyebrows but make sure you select eyebrows instead of the jaw and it would help to separate the beard and both eyebrows from eachother because it makes it easier to work with and fine-tune (in case you have to resize or move anything around. Then you should do the nifswap. BTW I like the uniform.

I also took the liberty of screwing around with your model and I added suleiman's beard instead and this is what I got. I didn't attach the mustache properly and I didn't scre with the eyebrows but I think suleiman's beard look a bit more like Dom Pedro's than Charlemagnes, but this is your rodeo so its up to you.

Thanks:)

Somebody asked me to change MethylOrange's Poseidon into Solomon, and I am probably going to do that. I also saw requests for Sun yat-Sen and Chiang Kai-shek, so I might consider taking a stab at that. But for now I'm working on some modules for my mod, which coincidentally is going to include Brazil. Good luck though on the LH, it looks cool.

I'm working on a leaderhead wearing armor, and I'm having some trouble attaching gloss to a mesh. What's the step-by-step for adding gloss?

gloss like for units? LHs don't work that AFAIK. If you post your nif I can take a look. It may be because you used a nonshader version or something happened on the export. If you post the nif I should be able to figure it pretty quickly.

couldn't have said it better my self. The padawan is becoming strong with the force

Thnx for your help Capo, but if you check my model, I already joined the beard and model together. However I haven't assigned them as you showed here (beard to jaw, eyebrow to eyebrow), but when I try it in blender, it says 'No vertex group is active'. Help? :)

Yeah you joinedit out of sequence. So in object mode click the beard object and the shift click the head/body. Then join. It carries the vertex over. If you do it the other way it tends to lose the vertices.

Yeah, it's nonshader. Is there any quick way to make a shader nif out of a nonshader, or are they pretty much stuck that way?

How's this for a hybrid Dom Pedro II? Its basically just Ekmek's Dom Pedro II with Darkstyx uniform. I think this is better looking than Jose San Martin with a beard and new clothing, and you still get to use San Martin's uniform without it being totally apparent that its just JSM with a beard.
