How to make your own Buttons/Icons

If there is a template, it'd be great if we could have it in the downloads section?

Any chance someone who understands this could write up a tutorial on how to use asio's button maker tool to make a button. I have my image, tried floundering around with the layer commands, and I can't figure it out. Read through this thread, and the thread with buttonmaker 2.0 and I am still completely lost...

I have no prior experience with media programs like gimp (which I am using). I'm not an idiot though, so if someone could tell me how to use this I'd greatly apreciate it, I'd really like to be able to make my own buttons, and just get familiar with gimp in general.

Thanks asio. My main thing is I want to know how to do it. I'm more the type of person that wants to know how to fish, rather then be given a fish. (Except for SDK stuff.. hehe)

Tried the tutorial, but I'm still stumped. In it you are prettyfying the image for the button, that's cool, followed that, but then you jump to an already opened window with all the layering options clickable and ready. Try as I might, I can't get a window that looks like that. I tried selecting "open" and "open as layer" on all the files in buttonmaker 2.0 but never got a window that looked like that. How did you open the buttonmaker layer window?

I've never used an art program before, so I need to know how to get started.

In menu of the image go to Dialogs -> Layers or press ctrl+L
