How do you get a color to respawn but not an entire civilization? If you put "don't restart eliminated players", once you kill, say, the green civilization, they are gone for good, they'll never be respawned. But if you don't put "don't restart eliminated players", you can wipe out the Zulus, and they'll come back again, and again, and again. How can you make it so that you can kill the Zulus, the Japanese, and the Babylonians all once, exactly once, and the color will regenerate through all three civilizations exactly once and then disappear? I want to kill all of my enemy civilizations, more than just all of the colors, but I don't like killing the Zulus only to have another Zulu settler appear out of nowhere instantly. How can you do this?

Welcome to Civ Fanatics, Puritan!

I know in the games I've played the new civ to spawn is never the same nation as the one I just killed. Then if you allow the spawned civ to build their first city then kill them, they will be 'marked' as used. That way each color should only be used once and you are able to kill each nation that uses it.

I have heard from others that this is not the case, but, as I have said, I have never seen otherwise and use MPG with the latest patch.

in my games (MGE) they always change to a different civ with the same color - if they get destroyed three times, they will sometimes have the first civ rise from the grave to get smacked around again...

Well, that doesn't happen to me... I've had instances where it says "The Mongol civilization has been destroyed" and then instantly a Mongol settler appears and the game says "The Mongols want an audience with you, do you accept?" But even if it happened like you stated, I don't want that first civilization to rise from the grave... I want to kill one, then two, then three, then they stay dead. I'm surprised there is no option between not respawning any color at all and bringing civs back from the dead. There's no middle ground?

Though I have never myself experienced what Puritan described I have experienced a certain Civ reappearing. But that was only after the "cycle" was complete. Ie if you wiped out the Babylonians the Japanese would appear, and when they bit the grass the Zulus would appear, but after the Zulus got crushed the Babylonians would reappear.

But that might just be me.

It is more difficult, but I think you can come close to what you want by using "triggers" in creating a scenario. However, this would make the game a scenario, and not a "regular" game. What you ask for is not a "regular" feature . In short, there is no middle ground... unless you take the scenario route.
