How to reset you bodyclock/sleepcycle?

 not gonna happen

Why not? It's the only non-pill method suggested so far ('sides 'Gloo's) that's backed up by linked actual studies. From Harvard.

Besides, 16 hours isn't really a long time. Many people fast for longer than that for religious observations. Many people fast that long before surgeries and other medical procedures.

You really can't bear 10 hours of hunger?

Get some Ambien, then.

I don't know if I could bear it actually, I guess it would be worth a go. I can't really afford to be buying sleeping pills so it's probably better than that, but I've gone with the staying up all night method and I'm absolutely knackered.

It'll save a day's worth of food. ;)

And go out in the morning and get some sun while you're busy starving. :)

I used to do that sort of thing when I was at university. In fact there were some lengthy periods when I had something more like a 30-hour sleep cycle than a 24-hour one. Whenever I wanted to resynchronize myself with the rest of the world I'd take a couple of days or so and stay up as long as I could, lengthening the cycle until my "morning" coincided with everyone else's.

I like to take melatonin (not melanin) at about the time I want to go to bed. It's also a good anti-oxidant. I don't like take it for a long time, just for a couple of days. About 1 pill at 3mg I believe. Available at most nutrition supplement stores.

It's winter - there isn't that much sun:

Date Sunrise Sunset
4 Dec 08:22 16:08

From what I've read (and in my own experience), it doesn't take much.

Take melatonin. It's non addictive and natural, and can be procured easily. Take it when you want to go to sleep. Do this for a little while and the pattern should be set. Also, it gets rid of jet lag.

Melatonin ain't terribly effective. I'm not saying it's useless by any stretch, but it ain't great, either.

It's dirt-cheap, though, so it's usually worth a shot. But not good to depend on.

Partly melatonin requires darkness to work as the body will actually destroy it if exposed to light, so you really have to make an effort to sleep (go to bed & turn out the lights), and it won't counteract bad habits like taking stimulants/eating late in your day.

Hah yeah I haven't really got into a normal sleepcycle, I'm just forcing myself to get up earlier. I'm kind of surprised how well I can operate with like 5 hours sleep a night. I guess it'll catch up with me sooner or later.
