Hi,

I used to read this site for a while, but that's my first question :

I would like to play civ4 bts with friends the pitboss way, when every player play there turn once per 24h.
I set up civ4 bts + latest patch on a windows server hosting in OVH.
I open port 2056
I put the 4 lines in /etc/hosts (148.251.130.188 civ4bts.natneg1.gamespy.com....)

When I launch the Civ4BeyondSword_PitBoss.exe I can create the new game but after I click launch the game freeze and of course the server is not reacheable from client /directIp

I found multi thread with multi problems on internet, I don't understand if i need to set up the natnegserver or open more port.
Does anyone here still know how to setup a pitboss game for a private direct ip game ?
Best regards,

I reply to myself, there is nothing special to do, just launching the Civ4BeyondSword_PitBoss.exe and open the port 2056 in both UDP/TCP in and out.
The game in the server is frozen after having been launched but the client can connect as long has they updated they etc/host file.

Hello

1. Freezing at startup (before you can select the save) will be caused by a request to a Gamespy server (again...) I've had seen the four urls for /etc/hosts in your other thread, but the complete list, which solves this issue, is a little bit longer (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Zulan/PRMasterServer/master/hosts )

2. The Freezing of the Admin-Panel (after loading of the save) is caused by special characters in the user names of the players.

Thank you for your answer. I but the complete list in /etc/hosts but the problem of the freeze of the admin panel remains...
As it is just after a new game creation, I have no user name of players... Do you meen special chars in name of leaders ?
I will restart a new game with this mod, I hope it will help...

Yes, special characters are problematic in the name of leaders (because they will be used as player name at game startup), player names, and civilization descriptions (not sure).

Did the problem occur in all cases or just for a fixed scenario file (Worldbuilder-Save)?
As Pitboss host I had several situations where the scenario file looks loadable, but the game will hang after its initialization. I.e. because the number of player slots in the file does not match with the number of players in the CvGameCoreDLL.dll.

Using my Pitboss mod is a good idea :), but rather runs in the trap with non-matching scenario files. Please try to generate a game by a map script, first. If this works, we could continue with scenario files.
