Hi guys

I'm playing as Denmark and I'm in a continent with Incas. Well, just after I conquered Egypt, Incas dow me. Ok, I can understand that. Now we are fighting almost for 1000 years. He attack me every few turns, with no results.

My question is if It exists some method to stop a war (without fighting) . It's very annoying to fight again and again for nothing.

Thanks!

After X turns, your eligible for peace.

But you'll need to have the bigger army (by the AI calculation which is based on #soldiers on Demographics screen) if you want a fair deal.

Also note that chances are extremely high he'll DOW you again shortly after he's eligible to do so (right after he rebuilds his army).

So if you want reliable peace you need to force him into an involuntary OCC in a city bad enough to where he'll never be able to rebuild.

I see... So, if I have understood, to resolve a conflict, it almost depends of who has the largest army. And what about bring other civilizations against my enemy? It could force to ask me for peace?

And do you know if with g&k will be some different diplomatic options to resolve situations like this?

That would have been a great feature, but unfortunately Civ V doesn't have it (to be fair, I don't think that any of the previous games had it either). Theoretically, you could try to bribe another civilization in declaring war on that guy, but if you have so much money you may as well spend it on troops.

In NiGHTS they'll usually offer at least straight peace after a while, as long as they're not too much stronger.

I think in VEM they're a little more peaceful (there is a small gold bonus for open borders without war), but I've only played one (fun) game of it and had a strong military so hard to say.

If you defeat most of their army and start causing serious damage to one of their primary cities, they'll usually ask for a peace deal in your favor. Of course, it's probably better to just take the city and then make peace for the same (or better) deal, but regardless of what happens, they'll hate you for the rest of the game.

I have no idea on G&K.

As to bringing in other civs: It depends upon if they start killing your enemies units or not.

(The Civ V AI isn't even smart enough to avoid DOWing someone when already in the middle of losing a war.)

Too often they declare on you for no reason early on, maybe just to keep you on your toes.

Then they continously telling you that peace will cost ALL your 312gold, 3 luxes and your 4 horses. Even if you wiped out their armies numerous times.

Do you ever say Yes to this?

Then after a while they give you even peace, which is not fair either. But someone said long ago, that if you reject peace-offerings, it could damage your diplo too?

I don't know, I just build units so I can crush them thoroughly and without killing them off, some AI's still likes me. And sometimes this strategy WILL give you the peaceoffering you wanted early on. But I'm not sure what the other civs think of me after rejecting 4 one-sided deals?

Today I continued playing some turns. Incas have about 150000 units and I have 65000. However, he can't conquer my cities, I suppose half because my strong defense half because bad IA.

I disagree that we cannot stop a war just because he have more units. It's a waste of time... And I don't like that in civV be neighbours+ less units = war.. In previous civ I remember that I could be ally with my strong/leak neighbours, sometimes until the end of the game.

I hope that, with religion and some improvements, g&k have better diplomacy options to give more sense to the war...

(sorry for my english, of course I'm not english speaking )

Sometimes you can get another civ to go to war with another for only a few hundred gold! I did it once with a civ for about 350 gold. Add a luxury to the offer if necessary.

Look for a civ with close borders with the target civ. See whether they have denounced the target civ or have been denounced by the civ.

Sadly enough, that's the way it is. If your opponent has more troops than you then taking one of their cities will get you a peace treaty - but they are still very likely to declare war again in ten turns when the treaty expires. That particular aspect of the game is so tedious and silly that now when another civ declares war I don't make peace until I have them down to one city. I just puppet or annex their cities as I go and that's the only way I know of to settle the situation.

Exactly. And that's the reason why if you have some economic or happiness problems early in the game, you must restart it. When I'm in those situations, I can't try to maintain peace to get out of the hole, and just in medieval era I know if I have win or lost the game. Every civilizations, in real life, had good and bad times, and it would be funny to have a weak civilization and, with a good management and an intelligent diplomacy, get stronger in a future era.

You need to break them hard enough. Get it into their cold electronic skulls that warring with you will bring about their eventual annihilation.

You don't want them to be saying this:
