how to stop Civ4 from using My Documents?

How do I stop Civ4 from creating a "My Games" folder in My Documents?

I hate how games are starting to invade the My Documents folder . I set a specific installation directory for a reason - because that's where I want the game to keep its files.

So anyway, does anyone know how to stop the invasion?

You could try making My Documents read only, but it might not install right.

Petek, thanks for the reply. However, the game still creates a "My Games\Civ 4" folder in My Documents, though it doesn't have the myriad of pointless empty subfolders it used to. Any ideas on how to get it to stop creating the My Games folder?

Hadn't noticed that those folders continue to be created. I don't know of a way to stop it. If you simply don't want to see them you could give the folders the "hidden" attribute. Empty folders take up virtually no space, so I don't regard them as a problem. You might have a different view, though.

you can always select another folder when u r saving. afterwards, it will always go to that folder to save.
