Probably been discussed before...

Is it possible on the higher levels? (Monarch) Please help! :p

two walk throughs- actually three -

"Attacko's Ice Archers" - archer rush on Monarch
"Attacko's Bowmen" - Archer rush with bowmen- monarch

and "Amphibeous Archer Assault " as well.

as the greatest master of archers ever -i suggest being near tundra forest and aim for archery as soon as possible opening up the possible "bowery" event and building a barracks as the first build.
Combat for attack- Drill for defense- one Medic for a Medic.

the evidence is clear- archer rush- the rush of champions

Having Sitting Bull build Totem poles is kinda offensive. I suppose you could really make it offensive by naming of all the cities racist names. It's a lot easier to just spam insults at everyone in chat, though.

Eh? Indians did make totem poles. It's not a racist myth.

Yeah, but the Native Americans aren't/weren't one homogeneous group. Having Sitting Bull make totem poles because Indians had that custom is sort of like giving Bismarck a Toreador special unit because Europeans have a tradition of Bull Fighting.

Also it's a bit of a play on words because playing as Sitting Bull and building the totem poles for the extra archer unit experience would indeed help make your use of archers offensive under the meaning of offensive this thread was originally concerned with.

The Holy Roman Empire wasn't homogeneous, either, but its unique parts make sense, as does having Native Americans with totem poles.

I don't remember learning about totem poles at school when we studied native america. Still could be worse, the UB could be a 'wigwam'.. hmm lol

From good ol'Wiki:
During the territorial and economic expansion of the Age of Discovery the factory was adapted by the Portuguese and spread throughout from West Africa to Southeast Asia. The Portuguese "feitorias" were mostly fortified trading posts settled in coastal areas, built to centralize and thus dominate the local trade of products with the Portuguese kingdom (and thence to Europe). They served simultaneously as market, warehouse, support to the navigation and customs and were governed by a "Feitor" (factor) responsible for managing the trade, buying and trading products on behalf of the king and collecting taxes (usually 20%).
Besides it's graphics being a aberration , I'm sure you noticed in the text above the small detail that Portuguese Feitorias were made in foreign cities . In game the only thing that would be equivalent to it would be the GM trade mission or a corporation ;)

I suggested long ago to make a beefed harbor for the Portuguese UB ( EDIT: say , a harbor that reduced maintenace fees as the Zulu UB does ... that would make people think on settling more on coast whem playing with the Portuguese ... atleast much more than the current one :D ), but Firaxis decided otherwise :( They probably wanted a UB for the new and shiny BtS buildings ( except later ones ), so the dutch got a dike for the levee and someone had to bear with the custom house ... the only seafaring toned BtS civ free were the portuguese, so let them eat with a beefed costum house :(
