HOW TO[with blender]: do a simple rig/assign vertecies with bones

I've been messing with two leaderheads that load fine in blender, nikskope, and the sceneviewer but when I go to it in game it crashes. I double checked the xml so I'm not surewhats causing it. anyone else experience this before? if so what was the common problem?

i once had a similar problem and it was caused by the BG, check that...also, r u sure u did "the CRoland" transfer?

I think i did everything, but what do you mean by the croland transfer?

transfering your "custom LH" to an "original LH" to use in game (nifskope TUT) :)

it was weird the problem was that i guess if you something selected besides the top parent in sceneviewer it wouldn't save the who nif. so i fixed that. does anyone have a blend file with a separated napoleon suit laying around?

saw your bolivar pic, looks nice but i would agree that the napoleon suit is better, :mischief: errm, suited :)...right now, i am still at work, but if u like (and my wife does not have some emergency task for me), i will make u a clean napoleon suit...let me know if u prefer a decapitated/handless ".BLEND" file (with bones still attached), or a fresh from the laundry, spanking clean NIF suit (unassigned/unrigged mesh only, to import to blender)

If you want it boneless you can just export a 3Ds. :p Then scale it up by 9 and fix the textures in nifskope. Takes 30 seconds, easier than derigging the whole thing. :p

nevermind i was able to get the suit. thanks for the help!

geez!, i just spent a whole 5 minutes whipping it up!

let us know how it goes.... :)

bernie post it anyways. And can you post a blend of your alex without the armor - before you put on Trudeau's suit and did the face changes? I just did a quick mess with alex, removed his hair and added Tokugawas hair and it makes a much better Bolivar. Better yet any chance you can post a lot of your blends where you separated the suits from bodies. I feel we might be duplicating work at times ...thx

Ok, here's napoleon's clean suit.nif....let me look to see what other stuff i can post :)

I think I just made an amazing blender discovery.

I import elizabeth.nif into blender. I then imported kublai khan's nif into blender. If you click the panels object (or F7) - its that box with arrows it tells you how its mapped to scene root.
well elizabeth has sceneroot there, and when i clivk Kublai it has Sceneroot.00. I edited kubalai to say scene root just like elizabeths and it mapped all his bones to elizabeths skeleton.

If the benefits aren;t already apparent, i think this means we wont have to do rigging and can swap the multi-bones heads onto different bodies, even parts of heads.

I'll keep testing and add it to my tutorial.

I knew there had to have been an easier way!! Goodjob Ekmek :goodjob:
keep us upadated on your progress, and make sure to also test it on the two part leaders from Warlords and some of the leaders with buggy skeletons :)

the elizabeth and kubalai went great. no problems. then i did just a complete body swap of pacal and augustus. not so good. Next I'll just try and put augustus head on pacal's body. I think it may work for some parts, and heads maybe it (that was the best preserved part on the pacal body swap). The one thing is that its easier to assign a moving suit to a leaderhead though. that i think is confirmed. I'll add it to my ever growing blender guide once I kick out another leader or two ;)

Errr...Ekmek, I guess you could call that an "amazing" discovery but FYI its called reboning, people do it with units all the time. You could try it but you might still get some screwy spit when testing it out. I used to try stuff like scaling Bismarck's body down to nothing and scaling Napoleon's head down to nothing in nifskope (the nodes) then trying to combine them but it never really worked. I figure there are many work arounds that a lot of us aren't aware of yet, this could lead to something, so good job.
