HQ1 Succession Game: For the glory of Greece (OPEN GAME)

Not much happened during my turn. The egyptian town of El-Amarna built Copernicus Observatory in 1380. I shuffled things around a bit, ended up with the palace in Delphi due in 8 turns, Music Theory in 7, at -11gpt. I switched to Music Theory so we didn't lose all the shields that had been saved up.

I did forget that we didn't have the great lighthouse, so accidently lost the two galleys. Ooops. :(

In 1400, Hammurabi offered contact with the germans for Monotheism and 80 gold. I changed that to 90 gold instead. Then I find out that the germans are all by themselves on an island, and very backward. Good news for us. Bad news is they are broke. Sell them our world map for theirs and 1 gold. It was the only thing they would offer.

Got JS Bachs, and begun researching Astronomy, 7 turns I think it is.

Built a settler, we should replace babylon with our own city, and build the fp their. Just an idea I had. :) Good luck to whoevers next.

I'm currently reprogamming my router meaning I'm without access to the internet at home. I expect to be done with it on Friday. Due to this fact I am unable to pick up the game for about another 52 hours. Right now I'm at work and just barely have time for this message. If the player following me doesn't want to wait until I'm done programming then feel free to skip me. If it has not been picked up once I reestablish connection, then I'll take it there.

In the year 1425 a new king rose to power in Greece. Deciding to make a name for himself and having his name written down and remembered for all time he decided to declare war on the Babylonians. There is only room for one people here.

1425: Prepare the invasion of Babylon. Units move in position

1430: The attack commences. Shuruppak, Nippur, Lagash, Akkad and Uruk all fall to the Greek armies. A deal is struck with Bismarck of the Germans. In return for some of our luxuries we gain a little gold, their map and contact with the Russians. He is now polite.

1435: The victorius Greeks roll on taking Ashur and Zariqum.

1445: Nineveh falls to Greek Knights.

1450: The people of Nippur rise up overthrowing the garrison. In retaliation Sippar is taken. Greeks units return toward Nippur.

1455: The capital of Babylon falls along with the towns of Izibia and Ellipi.

1460: Ur captured.

1470: The campaign draws close to a conclusion as Larsa and Eridu falls. The south is now firmly in Greek control.

1475: Greeks units gain control of the North as Samarra is taken.

1480: Greek knights finally penetrate the Babylonian defences at Nippur. Hammurabi is captured and summarily executed for daring to resist. Babylon is no more. With the finally conquest complete the king suffers a heart attack and dies. Greece mourns its dead warrior king.

We are currently researching economics as I'd like to get Smiths. It would be a good idea now to concentrate on defence, banks and a navy.

Oh man, that was an excellent job you've done there Harlequin. Talk about Blitzkrieg! I would have expected a war with the Babylonians to have lasted 2-3 SG turns! Very impressive :).

Coopinius is up, I believe, good luck to you too :goodjob: .

Following the Babylonian War, Greece mourns her greatest ruler while Leonidas V takes the throne. His reign is a time of peace and growth, as Greece turns inward.

1480 - troop movement, musketmen regiments ordered raised and banks begun.

1485 - troop movement, temples hurried in Babylon and Nineveh, marketplace begun in Greekish.

1490 - troop movement

1495 - more troop movement, all remaining horseman units upgraded to knights. An aqueduct is begun in Akkad.

1500 - nothing

1505 - Greek scientists master economics and begin looking into chemistry. Athens finishes a bank and begins Smith's Trading Company. Ashur builds a temple.

1510 - temple hurried in Ellipi, worket movement, harbor done in Ephesus.

1515 - Mycenae begins a bank, Herakleia finishes a marketplace.

1520 - worker movement

1525 - worker movement, Knossos finishes a cathedral and begins a caravel.

1530 - worker movement, the King trades the Greek map and 30 gold for the Russian map. King Leonidas V, "the Peaceful" dies in his sleep in Athens.

Notes: We should definitely think about conquering Germany. They're small, and their island would make a great base for operations on the new continent.

I have it now, but got no time to play it, I'll play and post tomorrow.

Yeah, I had the same thought Thrawn. I'm considering making this a grab-the-game format because we have too many delays. It will be the regular grabbing meaning that as long as we don't play two times in a row, then any of us can pick it up and play. As long as that person posts an "playing now" note.

What do you guys think? I'm going on a 6 hour trip in the afternoon, so I won't be home again until late Saturday night, Central European Time.

Due to lack of replies I'm now making this an open game. I've waited for feedback for quite a few days now and as GameMaster I've made the decision on my own in hopes of getting this game completed.

Have you ever build an army?
Don't forget Heroic Epic - More leaders in the future.
If a critical wonder, send him back to the mainland.
FP would be a waste, not many cities would benefit.

Back to watching;)

I have a feeling you have a lot of people such as myself tied up in the GOTM#6. This weekend will only be that. I need to use my time there.
