I like that idea, staying away from Education as long as possible. I, unfortunately, usually do head straight for Education because I want to get Music Theory for Bach's. Time to break my old habits.

Yaype should be back from vacation soon, so it'll be his turn if he shows up. If not, then I'll go ahead and take it.

I am here. I got it, and I will get my turns posted in a few hours, hopefully. :D

Edit: BTW, this is my 100th post! Woohoo! :yeah: :thumbsup:

Ok, here it is:

Pre-Turn: Change research from chivalry to gunpowder. We will let somebody else discover chivalry for us and try to get as close to military tradition as possible. Not to mention, we can get a nice force of horsemen going if we want to convert to cavalry when the time is right.

400 AD: London Cathedral ----> Leo's Workshop
Warwick Pikeman ----> Worker (we need more of them)
Ipswich Pikeman ----> worker (same)
Galley sinks between France and Egypt. Not exactly sure what it was doing there, but oh well.
Carlisle Medieval Infantry ----> Library

410 AD: Hastings Colosseum ----> Worker. Our land really is underdeveloped.
Fishincowhorse Harbor ----> Worker
Workers working.
I am not liking this Scandinavian Settler pair moving through our territory. I don't want him building a city in the tundra to our South to steal future oil. Keep an eye on the little bugger.

420 AD: Hastings Worker ----> Barracks. We need to have a couple of cities building veteran units.
Moving.

430 AD: Warwick Worker ----> Worker
Reading Pikeman ----> Worker
Fishincowhorse Worker ----> Worker
Cambridge Pikeman ----> Worker
Ipswich Worker ----> Library (I am building libraries rather than temples in order to help keep the research up. I assume we are going for a more peaceful means of victory, so research is vital.)
I don't think our people like us much. Our palace only has two additions :(.
Portsmouth to Harbor.

Dear Joan wishes to renegotiate our dyes for horses deal. We add 6 gpt to the horses to continue the flow of dyes.

440 AD: Canterbury Courthouse ----> Barracks
Liverpool Marketplace ----> Worker
Brighton Settler ----> Settler
Spain and France both appear to be heading for the islands to our SE.
Also, French, Spanish, and Celtic settler pairs are about to enter our territory. I will try to get some more of our Southern tundra claimed, but I think the islands to the SE are pretty much lost.
Workers working.

450 AD: Dover Marketplace ----> Barracks This will get us at least three cities producing veteran units. If we continue the peaceful route, this is probably the minimum amount we want. Of course, Sun Tzu's is being built as well, but this will help for now.
Reading Worker ----> Aqueduct
Fishincowhorse Worker ----> Aqueduct
Workers working.

Chivalry discovered by alchemists. Good thing we changed our tech path.

460 AD: Warwick Worker ----> Library
Liverpool Worker ----> Aqueduct
Mr. Roger's Neiberhood Marketplace ----> Aqueduct
Cambridge Worker ----> Worker
Gunpowder due in 2 turns (could be one, but it would be at a loss of about 145 gp--nice to have a little leftover right now)
Trade Iron to Germany for Worker and 79 gp.
Chivalry to Ottomans for WM, 46 gp, and 2 gpt.
Chivalry to Romans for WM, 53 gp.
Chivalry to Egyptians for WM, 5 gp.
Chivalry to Greeks for WM, 7 gp.
Chivalry to Scandinavia for WM, 6 gp.
Demand that Scandinavians leave our territory. This will leave plenty of time to really figure out their intentions towards that Southern tundra. Settler pair moves NW of Fishincowhorse.

470 AD: Hastings Barracks ----> Knight
Canterbury Barracks ----> Knight
Coventry Library ----> Aqueduct
Newcastle Marketplace ----> Library
Should have done it a while ago, but York is MM'd, and now Sun Tzu's is due in 6 turns.
Gunpowder in 1 turn, science to 40% (+36 gpt)

480 AD: Gunpowder discovered. Chemistry @ 50% (-5 gpt...we need to be making more money, which means more infrastructure, which means lots of workers working)
Tundra Whalers Temple ----> Harbor
Ooooooh--a third palace expansion.
Sparta, a size 4 city, completes Sun Tzu's. I hold off on switching wonders at the moment in the hopes that somebody other than the Russians gets a hold of Theology so that we can switch London to Sistine Chapel. I guess those barracks will continue to be useful after all.

Woohoo! We now have Theology, so work in London continues unabated.

490 AD: Cambridge Worker ----> Worker
Berwick founded. Temple production begun. Part of the tundra is now claimed. Next settler should finish the job. Continue building settler to use all wasted land--there is a great deal of it.

I included a picture of the settler pairs I was talking about. Just keep track of them.
IMPORTANT: I left London building Leo's and let York switch to Sistine Chapel. There are only 4 turns left for Sistine. What is important is whether or not we should let London, with the longer build time, continue with Leo's, or whether we should switch and absolutely guarantee that we get Leo's. Nobody else has Invention as of yet, and building Sistine would eliminate a wonder cascade, as all available wonders (with the exception of Leo's to us) will have been built. I think Leo's is much, much, much more useful than Sistine, but I also think we can get both of them by continue as is. If there are dissenting opinions, however, please voice them. :p

Good luck whoever is next. :goodjob:

The Save

Let's not upgrade yet. I'd rather not since I'd be eliminated from my other 1.21 SGs which have so far made no mention of upgrading.

Anyway, good turns Yaype.
I guess we should let Sistene's complete first in order to kill the cascade. If no one else has Invention, then there shouldn't be any problems completing Leo's.
Losing Sun Tzu's was harsh, but it wasn't necessary. Leo's will be better in the long run.

I guess it'll be my turn next. I'll be sure to fill in the rest of our land and make those nasty foreign settlers go away.

Hopefully we'll be able to get back into the normal rotation after this.

I'm back, well rested, and ready for battle. It looks like things are rolling along nicely in my absence.

How is the rotation looking?

I think it's like,
Hooray
Bacon King
Melifluous
Ville
Yaype
Brewster (or then after Hooray)

Close, but not quite. I went like this:
Bacon King
Ville
Melifluous
Yaype
Brewster
Hooray

Hey Brewster, you can take it if you want. I haven't gotten around to doing my turn yet, anyway. Plus, it would help get us back into order.

I got it. I will be done by tomorrow.

Anything I should be aware of?

The main thing you should be aware of is in the last turn posting. There is an "IMPORTANT" spot where I outline what is going on with the wonder situation at the moment. Also, there are a couple pictures of settler pairs in our territory that should not be allowed to steal any space on our borders to the South. Those are the two most important things to be aware of--if you've read through the turns, you'll be good to go. :D

I've finished the first four turns of my session and will have the rest finished and posted tonight. Sorry about the wait but it is taking me some time to get back into the mindset needed for civ.

I updated to 1.27 before I even played my last turn. The two versions are compatible, so it doesn't matter much if you change--at least not for single player games. Most of the changes are for the MP portion.

Oh, they're compatible? I thought upgrading would prevent continuing any 1.21 version saves.

If that's not actually a problem, I'd be all for upgrading.

Preturn
Things sure look different. I see we have found the other continent and our technological leap back in the ancient era is still holding up. Decide to trade WM around and get WM, 112g and 1gpt. Our military is looking rather flimsy. We need some more defensive units. Change production at Cantebury to cathedral. I decide to give the roving settlers the boot. All are instantly removed from English land.
IT - Nottingham: cathedral -> pikeman. Bacon: marketplace -> pikeman. Dover: barracks -> pikeman. Brighton: settler -> pikeman.

T1) 500ad
Workers working. Moving settler south towards unclaimed tundra. Send warrior from Cambridge to Berwick.
IT – Greeks are building the Sistine Chapel. Manchester: pikeman -> pikeman.

T2) 510ad
Not much happening.
IT – The Celts are building the SC.

T3) 520ad
Workers working. Trade WM for 22g.
IT – We complete the Sistine Chapel! York: SC -> marketplace. Nottingham: pikeman -> barracks (we need them now). Cantebury riots (damn!). Dover: pikeman -> pikeman. Cambridge: worker -> pikeman.

T4) 530ad
Move some units and give tasks to workers. Give Cantebury a clown.
IT - Hastings: knight -> pikeman. Bacon: pikeman -> barracks. Vino: harbor -> pikeman.

T5) 540ad
Workers working. Send knight to Bacon. Leo’s due in 16. Our military is strong against Germany and the Ottomans, and weak against Carthage, Rome, and Greece. We are average against all the rest. Establish embassies with remaining civs for a total of 474g. Drop slider back to 40% (Chemistry due in 5 instead of 4 but at +47gpt vs –7gpt).
IT- Newcastle: library -> pikeman. Leicester: temple -> pikeman. Add some stairs to our palace.

T6) 550ad
Building the empire.
IT – Dover: pikeman -> knight. Cheddar: marketplace -> pikeman. Bad news folks, Celtic England flips to the Celts. The Celts have settled on the southern most tip of our land (southern tundra region). Time to focus on culture in this region.

T7) 560ad
Workers roading and mining. Building up military.
IT – Nottingham: barracks -> pikeman. Hastings: pikeman -> pikeman. Add upper level to palace.

T8) 570ad
Galley continuing along northern Greece. Sending pikemen to strengthen defenses.
IT – Newcastle: pikeman -> knight. Bacon: barracks -> cathedral. Liverpool: aqueduct -> library. Brighton: pikeman -> marketplace. Mr Roger’s Neiberhood: aqueduct -> library.

T9) 580ad
Bringing irrigation to Mr Roger’s. Chemistry due in 1 @ +92gpt. Add settler to Berwick.
IT – Discover Chemistry -> Metallurgy in 10 @ -5gpt. York: marketplace -> pikeman. Cantebury: cathedral -> knight. Leeds: marketplace -> library. Berwick riots. Add top piece to palace.

T10) 590ad
Connect road to Berwick. Not much action, just building infrastructure and military. Since we are only 11 turns from Leo’s and up Inv, GP, and Chem, I decide to sell Inv to the other civs. May as well sell the tech when the wonder is still up for grabs and sidetrack them into researching away from Education. Sell Inv to the other civs for WM, 216g, and 47gpt. Metallurgy is now due in 9 turns @ +12gpt.

Here is the save

Gah, I knew we should've rushed some culture in Celtic England. Oh well, at least it wasn't really important.

Got it. I'll play later today.

As of tomorrow, I'll be gone for a few days, but it doesn't look like my turn will come up in that time. If it does, though, don't skip me since I'd be back very soon.
