HRY1 - Monarch SG

Erm like WOW,

I've been away for the weekend... some severe illness in the family, so we had to go and visit whilst they were still alive.

Yes it was that serious :(

Anyway, I can most definately say that I have got it now and will play it as soon as I can. ie in about 5 hours :p

Hope you all get your lives back in some kind of order and I hope to return to this board with Radnars head on a stick :goodjob:

Hmmm . . .

It's been four days since there was any activity on this thread. Is the game over or is it dead? I know RL is taking over for many of the people involved, but four days without a word?

Yes, I'm sure that life is starting to catch up with most of us. Personally, I'll probably have a difficult time taking turns except on weekends. Being back in class gives me some stress, and most days takes away my desire to play Civ.
I would like to finish this, though. I leave lots of things unfinished, but I don't want this to be one of them.

Let's just skip Melifluous. I think that makes it Yaype's turn.

But...Yaype is out:(

Hey guys, I really don't have the time to be participating in this right now. It would be unfair on my part to make you guys have to wait on me any longer, so I am going to open up my spot for one of those lurkers on the list waiting for such an event. Thanks for organizing this and getting it going, but circumstances have conspired against me for now. :(

Hey Guys,

If you are still willing I can definately take this now...

I'm sorry about the long delay from me without notice but my wife's aunty was diagnosed with Terminal cancer and we had to make a quick visit to Manchester.

Sorry to Muddy the water here, but I can take this now if you want?

I await your answer Hooray.

OK So ten turns in 1.5 hours was a little ambitious, this took me just over 3 hours in all ;)

PreTurn - Make peace with the battered and broken french and get WM and Strasbourg. They can keep their Brest in the Cold and Icy Tundra ;) Lux to 0%, bring every city up to speed. Research to 20%, Economics still in 2 turns at +299gpt. Check Diplo... Huh? We are in the IA and we are researching Economics? 5 other civs have economics and the Celts have a LOT of money. Sell ToG to Celts for Economics, Free Artistry, WM, 420gold and 82gpt... Thanks Brennus. Hmm tempted to sell Magnetism to him for 94gpt. Oh what the hell, we agree. While we're at it, sell ToG to Russia for WM, 69gold and 55gpt. Also sell Magnetism to Russia for 74 gpt. Russians being Scientific get Steam Power for their free tech. Little wosnames wont sell it, not even for 600gpt. Oh well set research to 100%, Steam Power in 6 turns. Nobody else has any cash so we check out what we can of the Vikings troops. Upgrade all warriors to MI. And thats about that.

Turn 01 (1010AD) - Warwick Market -> Aqueduct. Liverpool Man-O-War -> Bank. Dover Courthouse -> Granary. Wake a musketman to attack a lone viking spearman that was dropped near Ipswich, it wins without injury. Elite Cav vs Berserk, cav win, no leader. Vet cav kills Viking MI. Canterbury bank -> Newtons. Suggest to Germans that they should join us against Vikings they say no no matter what I offer (Iron, Saltpeter and about 5 techs still wont change their mind.) I fear that I made peace with the French whilst still engaged in MA's with every other civ. After telling others not to do this I think I may have trashed our rep. :cry: Bacon and York changed to other wonders as pre-builds for Theory of Everything and Hoovers ;)

Turn 02 (1020AD) - Hmm nothing doing, kill a MI with a cav, more coming.

IT - Carthage and Greece sign peace. Oh.. Erm Germans declare war. We lose Bayonne. :angry: which cuts off Rouen, Toulouse and Dijon, so they riot :(

Turn 03 (1030AD) - FishinCowHorse Man-O-War -> Cavalry. Man-O-War sinks a German Galley, GOLDEN AGE!!! Nice timing. Elite cav kills Viking Cav, Elite Cav kills Viking Berserk. Vet Cav kills knight in Bayonne, vet cav kills longbow in Bayonna and retakes the city. Rush a musket in Bayonne. Move musket and MI from Besancon to Bayonne.

IT - Bayonne withstands the German onslaught, although we lose some cav in the field.

Turn 04 (1040AD) - Lyons barracks -> Cavalry. Besancon musket -> barracks. Mr. Rogers Cathedral -> Cavalry. Bayonne musket -> Barracks. Research to 10%, Steam Power next turn, doing +1093gpt.

IT - German Longbows (4 of em) attack Bayonne and our muskets and cavs repel the attack without loss. Wierd.
Turn 05 (1050AD) - Steam Power -> Medicine. Research to 80%, Medicine in 4 turns at +385gpt. Paris musket -> musket. Nottingham Bank -> Cavalry. Dover Granary -> cavalry. FishingCoWHorse riots, doh... Cambridge musket -> cavalry. Manchester temple -> cavalry. Tundra Whalers Musket -> cavalry. Ipswich musket -> cavalry. Portsmouth Marketplace -> Cavalry. We buy silks from Russia for WM and 670gold.

Turn 06 (1060AD) - Orleans musket -> barracks. Newcastle Bank -> cavalry. Leeds Man-O-War -> cavalry. Vino marketplace -> cavalry. Kill all Vikings and germans that we can see ;) We could make peace with the Vikings, but hey this is kinda fun. Rush a temple in Celt-English Border City, nice name. Also rush temples in about 4-5 former french cities.

Turn 07 (1070AD) - Paris temple -> barracks. Rhiems temple -> barracks. Reading Marketplace -> granary. Rouen temple -> barracks. Bayonne temple -> barracks. Celt-English temple -> courthouse. Man-O-War sinks viking Galley, its now Elite. Elite cav takes out a German spear in Tours and takes the city, we get 2 french workers. Starts temple, musket from Bayonne is on its way. Cavalry from Paris wanders north to get at the Longbow outside tours and spots German Knight, Horse and 2 more longbows. Attacks Knight and loses. Further cav attacks take out all Germans visible without loss except a lone longbowman. 2 more temples rushed.

IT - Celts complete Magellans voyage.

Turn 08 (1080AD) - Hastings Bank -> cavalry. Dijon temple -> barracks. Leicester courthouse -> aqueduct. Toulouse temple -> barracks. More german troops die without loss on our part. Hurry temples in Besancon and Tours.

IT - Vikings offer peace, we tell em to get stuffed. German longbow kills an exposed cavalry. Russians complete Bachs, Carthage complete Shakespeares. We were 2 turns from Bachs and 7 from Shakespeares. :saiyan:

Turn 09 (1090AD) - Medicine -> Electricity. Research to 100%, 5 turns at +172gpt. Nottingham cavalry -> cavalry. Tours temple -> barracks. Warwick aqueduct -> harbor. Dover cavalry -> cavalry. Brighton bank -> aqueduct. Besancon temple -> harbor. Fishingcowhorse cavalry -> cavalry. Mr Rogers cavalry -> cavalry. Bacon switched to bank wasting only 64 shields (2 turns). Canterbury swicthed to Palace. York switched to newtons (due in 2), London swicthed to Smiths (2 turns). Buy Nationalism from the Greeks for Steam and Medicine, plus 11 gold and WM. Sell Nationalism to Carthage for WM, 66gpt and 40 gold. Sell Medicine to Ottomans for WM, 67 gpt and 50gold. Make peace with Germany and take Bonn and 14 gold as part of the deal. Rush a rifle in Bonn.

Turn 10 (1100AD) - Sell Medicine and Furs to Russia for 33gpt. Newcastle cavalry -> Cathedral. Bacon bank -> University. Bonn rifle -> temple. Carlisle Marketplace -> Aqueduct.

And that is that, Newtons and Smiths are due next turn. Keep teching up to Scientific Method and then switch Canterbury to Theory of Everything. Make sure you turn off research just before completing Theory of Everything and get Atomic Theory and Electronics as our free techs. Also if we have another prebuild going we can get a good start on Hoovers, which on this lovely map will almost assure our win in this game.

THE SAVE

Am I up now?

I had a look at the order and it would be Hooray's turn, but if he can't take it, I can.

Things are getting interesting now. We are in our GA and are at war. Time to further expand our empire and crush all who stand before us (insert mad cackling here).

Pre-turn: We're in the Industrial age and we hardly have any railroads? I won't stand for this. I try to build more workers.
I don't feel like fighting, so I make peace with the Vikings, and they give us an entire 10g in return. Yay.

1110 AD: London completes Smith's Trading Company -> Bank.
York riots?! I guess we'll get Newton's next turn then....
Orleans Barracks -> Temple
Dover riots. Fishincowhorse riots. I put Lux slider up to 10%.

1120: York rioting ends, and Newton's completes -> Bank.
Hastings Cavalry -> Worker, Liverpool Bank -> Worker
Cheddar Bank -> Aqueduct, Reading Worker -> Bank
Manchester Cavalry -> Aqueduct
Is it just me, or are the majority of our workers automated? Shame on whoever automated them. I have to stop a few trying to irrigate over top of our mines.

1130: French want WM trade. Sure, give us 5g too.
Nottingham Cavalry -> Worker, Hastings Worker -> Worker
Liverpool Worker -> Courthouse, Vino Cavalry -> Barracks
Ipswich Cavalry -> Barracks.

1140: Electricity learned. Scientific Method research begins.
Paris Barracks -> Courthouse, Nottingham Worker -> Courthouse
Hastings Worker -> Cathedral, Coventry Cathedral -> Worker
Dover Cavalry -> Bank, Leeds Cavalry -> Worker, Mr Roger's Cavalry -> Worker
Cambridge Cavalry -> Worker, Tundra Whalers Cavalry -> Worker.

1150: Viks and Ottos sign MPP. Russia asks for TM trade. Sure.
Coventry Worker -> Bank, Warwick Harbor > Bank
Marseille Rifle -> Temple, Brighton Aqueduct -> Barracks
Leeds Worker -> Aqueduct, Fishincow Cavalry -> Worker
Mr Roger's Worker -> Barracks

1160: London Bank -> Uni, Fishincow Worker -> Library
Cambridge Worker -> Barracks, Tundra Whalers Worker -> Market

1170: Greece declares war on Russia.
York Bank -> Colosseum, Lyons Cavalry -> Temple
Bacon Uni -> Courthouse, Vino Barracks -> Library
Disband a Reg Cav and MDI in Lyons for Temple, then rush it.

1180: Ottos want WM trade. Sure, give us 5g and you got a deal.
Scientific Method learned. Industrialization research begins.
Nottingham Courthouse -> Colosseum, Orleans Temple -> Library
Lyons Temple -> Library, Liverpool Courthouse -> Colosseum, Brighton Barracks -> Uni
Mr Roger's Barracks -> Bank, Leicester Aqueduct -> Market
Canterbury Palace switched to TOE. Newcastle switched to Palace for Hoover's prebuild.

1190: Spain wants WM trade. Throw in 5g, and I'll think about it.
Carlisle Aqueduct -> Courthouse
Have to MM Canterbury so TOE doesn't complete before our Industrialization research is finished.

1200: Bacon Courthouse -> Cavalry
Surprisingly, not much else.

TOE will complete on the same turn our research on Industrialization completes. Thankfully research completes before the TOE will.

So what techs are we getting from ToE? Atomic Theory and Electronics?

Great turn

Hello, remember me?
Sorry for abandoning this SG, School was starting back, and then my cousin stole my Civ disk, and it had been uninstalled off my computer.

Anyway, looks like you're doing good without me, could I see a screenshot, perhaps?

Yes, Ville, we should go for Atomic Theory and Electronics. As soon as Industrialization completes, switch to Atomic Theory immediately.

I guess I can get a screenshat, BK. To be honest there's not much of anything interesting to see.
