HRY1 - Monarch SG

Hmm, okay.

Here's how the roster looks now...
Bacon King
Ville - UP NOW
Melifluous - NEXT

Yaype
Brewster
Hooray

....BUT I seem to remember Ville saying he was going on vacation on the 24th, which is today. A skip may be needed if he's left all ready.

Should I take this now?

I believe I mentioned earlier that I am also away from Tomorrow (25th July) until the 1st of august.

I tell you what...

I will take this now.
If Ville has taken it already then too bad, but I will play anyway.

Expect my report and the save tonight ;)

Good going guys, lets erm build and stuff...

(Hmm encouragement sort of feels a bit lame when related to a builder game... Sorry)

Melifluous

EDIT: Also Bacon King got his link wrong in his previous post...

The real save that he should have linked to is HERE

I've finally got my schedule figured out and it looks like I will be away from July 31st to Aug 5th. If my turn comes up between those dates, skip me.

I'll check in when I get back. Remember to build, build, build.

PreTurn (1125BC) - MM'ed to promote growth in Capital city, also lux -> 0%. +2 gpt rather than -1gpt. Sell WM to Spain for WM and 6 gold. Sell WM to Vikings for WM and 4 gold. Buy WM from Celts for TM. Sell TM to Germany for WM. Sell TM to France for WM. Move warrior and scout near Orleans to keep a French settler from the Northern Iron site.

Turn 01 (1100BC) - Oh what the hell, I run 100% research at -7gpt to get Code of Laws as quick as possible.

Turn 02 (1075BC) - Liverpool is founded to the NE. We now have our barrier accross the land. Time to put some cities down around our capital, lets make the most of our first core. Also should we be building our FP?

Turn 03 (1050BC) - Lux to 10%, London is size 6.

Turn 04 (1025BC) - Zzzz.

Turn 05 (1000BC) - Nottingham settler -> settler.

Turn 06 ( 975BC) - York settler -> settler. Hastings settler -> granary.

IT - Vikings are building the Oracle, they complete the Colossus. Spanish are building the Oracle and the Pyramids.

Turn 07 ( 950BC) - Research to 50%, Code of Laws next turn.

Turn 08 ( 925BC) - Code of Laws -> Republic. Coventry Galley -> Temple. Bacon worker -> worker. London needs an entertainer. :( But now we dont need lux. Research to 100%, Republic in 24turns at -7gpt. We have 325gold, its worth it, although I'm saying now, the anarchy will be lengthy. Nobody has Literature still so I'm not bothered by the slight delay to the GL.

Turn 09 ( 900BC) - Zzzzz.

Turn 10 ( 875BC) - Dover founded east of london. Brighton founded se of london. WM sold to France and Celts for chump change plus WM, gift WM to the others. Spain has map making now. All others are Philosophy, Code of Laws, Literature and Map Making behind except the Celts who are Pottery :lol: Philosophy, Code of laws and Literature behind. I buy Embassies with Celts (building Oracle (15 turns) and have iron(1) and dyes(2) and wines(1)), and France (building Oracle (48turns) and have Iron(1) and Furs(1)).

And that is that...

We are 18 turns from Republic at -5gpt, we have 241 gold.

We have 12 cities so our expansion is going well have fun next player :goodjob:

Notes to the next player... We have a settler heading for the Northen iron, he's two turns away. I'm using the warrior and scout thereabouts to deter a french warrior/settler pair from getting there. Our single galley should aim for the East of our landmass as there is Forest showing to the east over the water. Keep an eye on our lux as London is still growing and should be allowed to. The workers around Bacon should really irrigate the plains to get some shields and make this city our worker factory.

Melifluous

THE SAVE

Good, good. Full steam to Republic, yeah!! The extra cash we'll get should make up for all this deficit research.

Also should we be building our FP?

Is it available yet? I'm not used to playing Large maps, so I don't know the required number of cities.
I think it should be built close to France, perhaps. If we ever conquered them, it would be nice if those cities up there would actually be useful.

Roster:
Bacon King
Ville
Melifluous
Yaype - skip
Brewster - UP NOW
Hooray - ON DECK

Got it.

I will get around to playing this sometime tomorrow.

I can't believe the game got back to me already. Too bad I spent the night getting ready to leave tomorrow without checking the forums. Oh well. That is my first skip in any SG. How sad. :cry: Anyways, good luck guys. :goodjob:

Everything looks good at the start. I see we are up in cities and tech on the rest of the civs. Everything looks good.

IT: We can now build the FP.

T1) 850bc
York: settler -> spearman. Block the French warrior/settler combo north of the iron. Our own warrior/settler pair leave York bound for the iron and BG south of Warwick.

T2) 825bc
Liverpool: warrior -> spearman. Workers working. Quite a few units on auto move (it would be nice if I knew where they were going).

T3) 800bc
Warwick: galley -> galley. Found Cheddar near iron deposit NE of Bacon. Cheddar -> warrior. Moving galley around continent towards mystery forest. Germans are building the Oracle.

T4) 775bc
Not much of anything going on right now (have a cup of tea and a smoke).

T5) 750bc
York: spearman -> library. Nottingham: settler -> temple. Brighton: warrior -> warrior. Move settler/warrior from Nottingham N to the tip of the point (fill up the space). London will grow in 4 turns and need another entertainer. Move second galley into position to pick up warrior in Celtic territory. Trade WM for change.

T6) 730bc
Spot new island off the East coast of our continent (will full explore with galley). Workers working.

T7) 710bc
Pick up warrior in galley to bring back home.

T8) 690bc
Bacon: worker -> worker. Units moving around the map. Workers working.

T9) 670bc
Liverpool: spearman -> galley. Vikings are building the Great Lighthouse. London grows (add a second entertainer to combat unhappiness). Settler/warrior combos (there are two of them) move into position on the point (ready to build cities next turn).

T10) 650bc
Newcastle: temple -> spearman. Dover: warrior -> temple. Brighton: warrior -> warrior. Build Leeds E of Cheddar -> warrior. Build Reading on peninsula (SW point of empire) -> spearman.

save is here

Well, good timing. I just got finished with my turn in another SG.

Got it. I'll have this turn finished today, probably. Maybe tomorrow, depending on IRL events.

Well, I got to it pretty quickly.

Pre-turn: What?! No Settlers in production at all? Brighton, Dover, and Warwick immediately get put on Settler duty.
London doesn't need two Entertainers. One gets switched to a Tax Collector, citizens still happy enough.

630 BC: Coventry Temple -> Worker
London MMd to lose food but get more production. Will switch back before city starves.

610 BC: Hastings Granary -> Worker
Canterbury Temple -> Spearman

590 BC: Coventry Worker -> Settler
Newcastle Worker -> Settler
Cheddar Warrior -> Temple
A road is connected to France. I immediately trade our only Horses for Dyes, 27 gold, and WM. Tax Collector fired in London, no more negative food.
Change my mind at Warwick. It gets switch to Temple since Settler not needed.

570 BC: Hastings Worker -> Library
Celts finish Oracle, start Pyramids.
Most opponents have Mathematics now, but want too much to trade for it. Screw them, we'll get it from the GL.

550 BC: York Library -> Pyramids. Eh, might have a chance?
French start Pyramids. Vikings start Pyramids. Germans, Vikings, and Spanish all start the Lighthouse.

530 BC: Change mind at Warwick again. Switched to Settler. And Newcastle switched to Forbidden Palace. The FP will take a while, but once the land around there has been improved, it'll go faster.

510 BC: Vikings want to trade maps. Sure.
Warwick Settler -> Temple
Liverpool Galley -> Temple
Republic due in 1 turn. Research dropped to 20%
Several opponents now have Literature. I can't seem to get any good trade opportunities to sell it to the ones who don't, though. Oh well.

490 BC: Republic learned. I DON'T revolt yet, though. I want the GL to finish first. With Literature out there now, I'm afraid it'll get snatched up in a cascade or something while we're sitting around in Anarchy.
Polytheism started at 80% in 9 turns.
Bacon Worker -> Temple
French start the Great Library.

470 BC: Germany finishes the Pyramids. Massive wonder cascade soon follows.
Germans, Spanish, Celts, and French all start the Great Library (!!!)
Get messages that Russia has finished Hanging Gardens, and Egypt finished Lighthouse.
Canterbury Spearman -> Library

450 BC: York can't build Pyramids, switched to Courthouse. (only thing that won't waste shields).
Dover Settler -> Temple
Brighton Settler -> Temple
Leeds Warrior -> Worker

Notes to next player:
Settler and Workers near Reading are meant to go Southwest to get those Wines hooked up.
Please don't revolt to Republic until GL finishes! In fact, do everything possible to get it finished quickly. That cascade might have put someone else very close to finishing it!
You might try sending some suicide galleys to find the other continent.

Here's a picture of the current situation:

Yaaaaaay!! I'm relieved to see the GL wasn't lost in that cascade after all.

Soon we should start a prebuild somewhere for one of the Middle Ages wonders. York would be the best candidate since London can't use a Palace prebuild. Sun Tzu's would be immensely helpful in getting Barracks since we're not a Militaristic civ. Dare I hope that we could get Leo's too?

I guess it's Melifluous now, then me. Damn vacationers.

Got it.

Perfect timing. I'll play tomorrow and post the results in the evening.

Preturn
All looks good except for the lack of any military units in Celtic England (Celtic spearman approaching).

T1) 230bc
York: swordsman -> spearman. Build Cambridge -> warrior. Descend into anarchy for 6 turns on way to Republic (I hate anarchy). Add taxman to London to prevent riots.

T2) 210bc
Moving units but not much else.

T3) 200bc
Liverpool riots (give em a clown).

T4) 190bc
Renew deal with France (we give horses -> they give dyes, 42g, and WM).

T5) 170bc
Build Vino on SW point on the coast (production -> temple).

T6) 150bc
Build Manchester on NE point of our land. Manchester -> warrior.

T7) 130bc
Nothing going on.

T8) 110bc
York riots (I must have missed that last turn). Bacon riots. We switch to Republic (lux 10% @ +60gpt). Change production in London and York to settler (we can always use more).
IT: - we learned Construction

T9) 90bc
London: settler -> library. Liverpool: temple -> worker. The French and Germans are building the Great Wall. Settler from London on Goto to fish near snow and BG on the southern part of the SW peninsula.

T10) 70bc
Fishincowhorse: warrior -> temple. Hawk world map for WMs, and 78g.

With most of my turns spent in anarchy, I wasn't able to build up our empire. Now that we are in Republic, I'm hoping things will get rolling. Research is set at 0% (gotta love the GL) and the rest of the civs are starting to catch up in tech (it may be a good time to sell a tech to speed up the research pace).
