Huge lag issues in later eras plus crashes

Ive been having problems with game lag in the later game; huge time between game turns is the main problem here. It takes too long end turns in the mid-late game for me. I have to move the camera around a bit in order for it move faster. Any help?
 
How much later are we talking? How much lag? How large a map? Lag once huge amounts of units get onto the map is pretty normal at the moment. Some rebalance work on units themselves and their costs and many other factors is a huge project that should be a core component of the v38 cycle here and should help a lot. Late game you get minutes between turns at the moment. It's a complex game. That's what happens, despite a lot of efforts to speed things up.
 
Were talking about a few minutes of real time between turns. It depends; it usually appears around the Ancient, Classical, Medieval ears etc. If you or i can tweak this, that would be helpful. It also seems to appear when there are more then 3-7 cites around.
 
There are a couple of options already that may improve things, simultanious turns(?) I think, but it will look like your game has frozen as it turns off all animations while doing the processing making it faster still.

They are in the BUG options, C2C tab, I think.
