HUGE memory problem.

I have 768MB of PC2100 RAM. I know this RAM isn't top of the line but still. When I play the game my RAM usage skyrockets to 860+MBs. Should this happen? Is there anything I can tweak to fix it or atleast make it better?It becomes too slugish to play, even scroling across the map becomes dificult.
I think my PC can handle the game, not very graphical.-

Mobo:533 FSB mobo (4x agp)
CPU: P4 2.4ghz
VideoCard:Nvidia 5500 OC 128mb (drivers up-to-date)
RAMC2100 256mb x 512mb
Samsun 7200rpm hdd 40gb.

Go to Crucial.com and use their System-checker. Get some more ram. Even better/faster ram depending on your bus speed. I firmly believe today you need(at least) 1Gb of Ram for most games anymore.

People laughed at me with I upgraded my system to 2Gb of ram. All I can say to them is: "Where is your Messiah now...."

Seriously...Ram is a cheap upgrade. I would look into that. I got a 2gb kit from Crucial for $246.00 door to door. I only wish I got two of those kits to max out my system at 4GB. Ram went up a little bit since then.

For 2 gig, yes that is cheap. I spent almost that much, including taxes, this summer getting just 2 X 512 cards. That's CAN dollars mind you but still, that's a pretty good price.
