Why are there no promotions specific for killing humans? Or is there?

Seems like Elves/Orcs/Dwarves get the shaft?

Because:
A) There's no Human promotion for another promotion to counter.
and B) Even if there was, 70% of all the civs in FFH are human or have human units. Essentially, unless you're up against the Ljosalfar, Clan, or Khazad, a Man Eater promotion would be the same as the Combat promotions.

Woot! Go humans, we will make up for decafes of video games that shafted them while they gave cool abilities to all the other races.

Seriously though its just all a part of the balance. You cant balance on any individual aspect of FfH, we just don't work that way. The only thing you can balance on is on the civs a whole.

Does the anti-elf promotion make the Ljosalfar to weak? No.

Does the anti-orc promotion make the Clan of Embers to weak? No.

Does the anti-dwarf promotion make the Khazad or Luchuirp to weak? No.

If it did we would probably remove those speciifc promotions, not add a human one to balance (and as MrUnderHill said, if there was a anti-human one it would be way to effective).

Has there been talk of adding a dwarf/elf ethnicity to the barbs? Maybe an early unit so the Orc killer promo is less of a no brainer.

Not really. We've talked about removing the orc slayer promotion to make the barbs all the more dangerous though.

maybe you could put in a strategy promotion that gives a bonus vs units not created in a city?
as it is now, orc slaying is more of stepping stone anyway, in all but the narrowest case getting to a +meellee with a few +combat promotion is just fine

Or, instead, reduce the bonus vs. barbs that each difficulty setting has. I tend to do this myself, anyway (except I eliminate the bonus completely).

Now, speaking of specific promotions such as this, would it be hard to make it a prerequisite to first kill that type of unit before you can get the promotion? For instance, your brand new warrior is clueless about fighting orcs until he gets through a battle with one, so then he can get the promotion.

I sort of do this myself, just for flavour. If a unit defeats someone on a wooded plot, I consider giving him Woodsman I. If he defeats a skeleton, I consider Slay Undead. Etc.

Very nice idea (although probably not - easily at least - doable)!
Of course the dragonslayer promotion would become almost completely useless (except for the Grigori dragonslayer of course, since he already has it - not sure if other units can get it at all).

I don't think dragon slaying is a promotion you can select. But I see your point.

If the idea were actually implemented, I would suggest that some promotions could be gained upon creation at certain tech levels, or through special events. For instance, kill 10 orc units overall and you can now give orc slaying to any new unit. Or, 'sacrifice' an orc-slaying unit in a city to gain a special drill sergeant that allows the promotion to be selected.

Thought
Anti- unit and race promotions don't stack. The best gets chosen. So you have Shock II and Orc Slaying you only get +80% from Shock?

I feel selfish asking for more from the design team when FfH II is already lightyears ahead of vanilla Civ and Warlords, but anyway..

Has there been talk of further developing the race specific RPG promos like adding a Dwarf, Elf, Orc Slayer II, III, IV?? Might be neat in later years when defensive pacts start playing a role.

Maybe make them available after most Barbs are dead or somthing..
