GeoModder - Not saying that there is any thing wrong with the existing carrier as it is an awesome unit. It just gets a bit annoying after a while when you have to keep substituting units for everything.

Granted. I'm more used to the general game instead of scenarios, and units offen aren't around long enough there to be bothered by how they look the same regardless of which civ has 'm.

Ye I kind of figured thats where a lot of players are coming from as most mods are high level and alot of the unit variety is upgrade stop gaps like jumping from Ironclad to Battleship .

Personally I figured a specific point in time would be easier to mod and provides a bigger opportunity to add detail and 'bells n whistle'

Hopefully someone will make a Pacific War scenario that will use both the existing Japanese carrier and hopefully my escort carrier. I can only hope that someone also makes a US carrier version (i.e USS Yorktown, USS Lexington)

I love pacific scenarios. I even made one sweet beautiful scenario for CIV II once, unfortunately I had no internet access back then...
But one thing struck me in civ IV from the beginning... Why the hell can't airplanes sink bloody ships?! I thought it was made clear about 80 years ago, that PLANE CAN SINK WARSHIP. EASILY. (wasn't it Mitchell who shown it first?)

I just can't imagine a wwII pacific scenario where my Avengers (or Kate's and Val's if you prefer) are unable to sink anything.

Well... No. He shown that aviation can sunk 1) Outdated 2) Abandoned 3) Undefended 4) Anchored warship with many bombs.

BTW, I-400 is a nice addition to the Civ-4, thank GeneralMatt!

If you want to call it that... it's way too short/fat... almost cartoonish.

I'm sorry... but let's take the classic German WWII sub the Type-VIIC

It doesn't look anything like this:

For everyone scrambling to make "accurate" naval models, everybody seems to be blowing-off the WWII sub as "not-needed" or something.

I do not disagree that one is not needed, but I believe that there was a submarine like that, let me see if I can get a pic.

I played a WWII sub game for a bit, Silent Hunter III. Quite fun. Let me see..

It would be a rotten example of a WWII sub though... they sucked, the Germans didn't even bother using them.

Using the German Type-II as a model in Civ4 for all WWII subs is like using a civilwar ironclad riverboat to represent all ironclads... stupid. The Type-II was just a coastal sub.

They did for training.
The other thing that always bugged me about subs in the game is that the year is 2010, you've got ballistic missiles... and you are firing them from a WWII sub. Is there any way to get the art to update when you get a certain tech, like the one that lets you build the attack sub?
