I am aware that there aren't any Civ III senarios so now maybe someone can answer me.

I made the grave mistake of calling the user made maps senarios and franklyn let me know how terrible a thing that was.

So is there any section where the maps people made up are reviewed or commented on? I would like to find out which are the good ones and which suck before I play them.

I know that these aren't senarios and make no claim for them to be.

Hopfully this will spare me from franklyns retribution this time around.

Also if your just going to post stupid crap and not an answer please don't.

"you should try exploring the site here. There are lots of interesting forums"

I did and that is why I asked the question. I went to your link again and imagine that some don't have reviews.

GOD is it really that difficult not to be a really cool guy?

Is it that hard to get a response. "Yes go here all made up maps and mod pack are review in this section." Or "No there isn't a deadicated page for that some are reviewed where they are posted but not all."

Why does everyone feel the need to be a really cool guy? You come in asking a legitamate question and all you get is a bunch of really cool guys trying to be funny.

' really cool guy', franklyn was just trying to be funny. If you re-read his post a little more carefully, he really had no intention of insulting you. It was really just sarcasm pointed at the game publisher's failure to provide for scenario creation.

I am certain, as you 'hang-out' at civfanatics more often you will find posters here are generally not insulting towards each other.

The moderators at civfanatics, our site owner, and the community itself perform an outstanding balancing act between freedom of speech and respect of others.

Whatever. I just do you guys and me a favor and not come to the site anymore. Sorry for asking questions.

Apparently its hard for you Steve Dave. I tend to find that people here are generally helpful - its just needs a degree of patience and a reasonable level of politeness.

Calling people really cool guys is unlikely to garner to many helpful responses! :p

Ok (trying to be helpful) I don't think there is a formal set of reviews for the User Submiited maps - but if you go to the User Maps section you'll see a STAR rating against the maps (which presumably means something), and if you read the comments that people have posted you should get a reasonable idea of whether the map is likely to appeal to you, or whether its likely to give you any problems.

The other answer is - just download one and try it - it won't hurt you! Of course, if you're one of those people who needs to be spoonfed at every stage, that might just be too much effort!

Sorry, S.D., I didn't mean for you to get your panties in a knot over the scenario review thing. By this point, I figured everyone who'd come anywhere near Civ3 knew the game shipped w/o scenarios -- that's been a real sore point for many around here (myself included).

There are plenty of Civ3 mods, however. None have been reviewed per se -- but you can tell from the comments posted in each thread as to whether you'd want it or not. The number of downloads is also logged so you can tell how popular a certain mod is. You'll find those in the downloads section. Or you can go straight here.

You might also want to find one of Thunderfall's posts -- his sig (last I checked) contained a link to what he considers essential modpacks. They're pretty good, especially the two graphics packs he has listed as well as the adviser-heads one.

Oh, and welcome to CFC. We're usually not that mean to new posters.

With an attitude like yours it is no suprise that people act like really cool guys to you. The guy tries to help you and you curse at him? Good luck finding help around here. (say that last bit like you mean it PH, :D , LS)

Please be advised that humor, including gently (or perhaps a little more that gently) chiding response, is within the Civfanatics rules and community standards. Name calling is not within the rules or community standards here. I hope you can come to appreciate the type of forum and community that Thunderfall provides, particularly an atmosphere less confrontational that you may be used to on most gaming sites, and increase your use and enjoyment of them. Unfortunately, I, personally, can not be much help with regard to your questions here. I function only as a moderator for the Civ3 section here and have realatively little advice to give on the game (I have a bit more knowledge with regard to the smac forum, but still do no qualify as an expert even there), no expertise on the player creative aspects, and I have nothing to do with the layout and design of the forums. Most of the help in the Civ3 sections comes from other posters, not the moderators.
If you wish to make a suggestion for a addition to the fuctions of the forums or site, such as a reviews page, please either post a thread in site feedback, or PM or E-mail Thunderfall.

Other posters be advised that there is to be no circling of the sharks here, and all recall that response to moderator action IS NOT on topic in the game forums.

Now get back to enjoying yourselves!!!
