I am your slave! :)

Belay Sparthage's order. Nothing from My Little Pony must be allowed to contaminate Carthage.

(I hope this doesn't spark a civil war for Hannibal!)

It's an entirely valid order, E. I do not accept Elephantium's proposal.

If you can't give a real reason why my order is invalid, then you can't repeal it. It doesn't violate the game rules in any way...

I think we should put this to a vote.
Toxic, the only times that we've even considered a vote are when an order had questionable legality. Again, I remind you that there is nothing questionable about my order under the rules. If the "vote" goes through, then this is no longer an anarchy game under the traditional description. A vote in a situation where I was significantly altering the game would be understandable. But renaming units is not a game-changing order.

Look, I know this is a lot coming from me because of my previous testicle-related order, but hear me out.

We don't want MLP here, and throughout the Internet MLP is regarded as spam. If this continues, then all kinds of insanity will suddenly be ordered. I will actually just leave this game if the order goes through, in protest against it's stupidity.

Any and all Cavalry must be named as such:
Toxic's 1st Cavalry
Toxic's 2nd Cavalry
Toxic's 3rd Cavalry

And so on.

I vote for a space race victory so Hannibal can have the moon for his summer holiday.

POST 200!

All odd numbered cavalry units must be named after characters from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. In your stories, the pony the unit is named after must be the leader of that unit, they must act as they would in the show (many of them have wikia articles, don't worry). As to how the ponies get there, I'd suggest something involving them coming from the heavens as a blessing from Sparthage to his favorite people. (Move to Static Orders)
Both of these are legal.

And both are rather contentious.

And I don't like either of them, even though they are both legal.

What I don't like is are the phrases Any and all and All odd numbered. I think that is too broad to be enjoyable. Legal, yes. But not fun to read about. Or to write about, either.

What if we did this: Allow the current 'gods' to name up to 10 or so calvary as they wish. Either as named after them (the Toxic Cavalry) or another list (My Little Pony). The named units would not be limited to cavalry, but would be for nany new unit types (Infantry, Tank, Modern Armor, etc). A list could be split to include both types, too, as the needs of the game changes and the new units become available.

After the current 'gods' (current = given an accept order, even if not completed) have made the selections, any 'new gods' could give theirs.

My list would be either kitchen utensils (rolling pins, turkey basters, cookie sheets, etc) or baking spices (nutmeg, garlic, cayenne peper, cinamonn and so on).

Would this be an acceptable solution?

Good idea, Bob.

The first 10 Cavalry created must be named after Toxic in this way:
Toxic's 1st Cavalry
Toxic's 2nd Cavalry
etc

I assume you mean something along the lines of:

Each person submits a list of ten names. Ral draws from each list for unit names. A player may submit more names when theirs are used.

...if so, then I'm okay with that. My order about the in-story mode will still apply to units using my names.

My list:
Spoiler :
Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Luna, Celestia, Derpy Hooves, Doctor Whooves

Basically, yes, you've got it right.

When the units of Sparthage have been named, as listed above, the following ten names are to be used for offensive land based units, Cavalry first, and then other newly available units. These are not designed as names for naval or air units.

Spoiler :

  • Glow Worms
  • Butterflies
  • Puppies
  • Kitties
  • Lightning Bugs
  • Harders
  • Warm Fuzzies
  • Dandelions
  • Boys Named Sue

Sparthage, although theres nothing against it, it's a dick move to do it when you KNOW the entire outspoken audience is against it.

Sorry, I had guests over this weekend so I wasn’t on the boards. I have another set to post, probably later tonight.

So will you take out the Dutch after you have destroyed all the other Civs?

Correct. I will kill the Dutch last, though they were the first nation to be imprisoned. And in compliance with Elpehantium’s earlier order, every time I declare on them or they declare on me, I imprison them again and sign an ROP with them. I also have to nuke someone for at least 50% of their cities before I can do that, be that the Dutch or someone else (come here, Lincoln :trouble:).

I know that this post has had a lot of discussion and I am hoping that we can come to an agreement here. I admit that I know next to nothing regarding MLP but I’ll have to do the same thing Hannibal will need to do – research these curious critters on the glorious Internet.

Hopefully I can include them in such a way as to not give offense to those that do not like the order. I respect Sparthage as I respect all of the ‘gods’ and I wouldn't want anyone to quit over this. Carthage needs all the ‘gods’ if it is to triumph.

We don't want MLP here, and throughout the Internet MLP is regarded as spam. If this continues, then all kinds of insanity will suddenly be ordered. I will actually just leave this game if the order goes through, in protest against it's stupidity.
Previous silliness aside, I do hope you will reconsider. You are a very prolific ‘god’ and without these interesting stories it tends to devolve into ‘this attacked that’.

I like the idea of supplied lists; I’ve been generating names for a while and I’m starting to run out. :( Also not to forget that I have a list of 20+ guerillas that need to be created before I can learn rocketry!

And I would actually like a ruling here – not to circumvent the will of any ‘god’ but I know Hannibal must create all the guerillas in order for Carthage to learn rocketry – do they all need to be ‘in-service’ at the time rocketry is learned, or just created at some point? I asked this because Carthage is almost to Replaceable Parts and, though war will still be fact of life for a while, things are starting to calm down. Hannibal was going to start spamming guerillas for use against Spain (when he has an ironclad, of course) but casualties may run rather high (which originally I thought would be okay because Hannibal is looking at disbanding his unneeded military once he is done with the conquests).

Overall what this means is that Hannibal may create units only to disband them either in the near future or immediately, which is okay story-wise but maybe not god-wise. The way I read this, I will only use these lists if Hannibal creates more cavalry, etc. As POP/Sparthage’s Guerilla order came first, I will take that as the first list from which to draw. Then I will move to Sparthage’s MLP list and then CommandoBob’s list.

With that said, Hannibal currently has Toxic’s 20th Cavalry in service with a few losses here and there. I can almost immediately convert the odd numbered Cavalry from the MLP list as the guerilla list does not yet apply (them being Cavalry and all :D).

For naming, I think vetoes are fine. I also strongly agree with CBob's sentiments. If others disagree about vetoes, I think we should go with something like "You can specify 5 names at a time before the next person's names take precedence." That avoids situations where I really want a new Cav unit called Tusker's Chargers, but there are already orders to name everything Toxic Cav and MLP names (which really irks me. Coming up with names is fun, being blocked from adding a new name to the list by someone else's rule isn't...so, sorry for ruining your fun, Sparthage).

I think building units, only to disband them a bit later is fine. Work it into the story somehow, though -- maybe move them from the city of their creation to the capital and disband them towards some other improvement.

If my veto on MLP won't stand, then I'll issue this:

The MLP units spark a holy war! For every Cav named on the MLP scheme, another must be named from the following list: Tusker's Defenders, Tusker's Chargers, Tusker's Riders, The Peanutguard, The Ivoryguard, Paladins of Ivory, Paladins of the Peanut, Paladins of the Tusk, Paladins of Elephantium.

When going to war, each MLP unit must be paired with a unit loyal to Elephantium. Alternate between the two factions for attacks; any unit that retreats from battle is destroyed by loyalists from the other faction. Whichever faction loses more than five units first is defeated in the civil war and must be renamed to a naming scheme in line with the other faction.

*sigh* You know, the original cavalry-naming order was for every single one to be named after toxic, so I agree that no one should hold a total monopoly on naming rights (and in fairness, it was pretty much just me and toxic giving the orders for a while).

Alternate between the two factions for attacks; any unit that retreats from battle is destroyed by loyalists from the other faction. I believe this violates the "no giving orders to disband units" rule (from the OP), as well as infringing on my right to name my units as I wish.

As for the Guerilla-naming order: consider it rescinded. You should still use those names for guerilla units, however, you are no longer barred from advancing to rocketry.

I like the idea. Of course, I don't have to write about it in story form, either! :D

But a few things to note.

All pair attacks should be equal. If Debry Hooves takes out a Spear on a plains tile, for instance, Tusker's Chargers shouldn't have to face a Musket on a mountain in their matching attack.

Since the attacks are in pairs, it is possible that both factions could have 4 retreats at the same time. (I realize this is not likely, but possible.) So, if both are tied at 4 retreats apiece before either attack, and the first attacker retreated, the second one would need to attack also and prove that they would not have retreated in order to claim 'victory'. If the score were 3 to 4, then this would not apply. The score would need to be tied before the paired attack began.

Do retreats on the IBT count?

I believe this violates the "no giving orders to disband units" rule (from the OP), as well as infringing on my right to name my units as I wish.
Instead of disbanding, what if the retreated unit was temporarily renamed from 'Unit Name' to 'r1 Unit Name'? And, once all the jousting is over, the victors remain front line troops while the others serve as MPs or slave escorts? Or maybe the winners have a city renamed in their honor? Or maybe something else?

Because I DO have to write this into a story (:D and happy to do it), may I suggest a compromise? I really like the idea of a struggle between the gods to prove the superiority of their units. Of course we all know that the RNGod will determine the winner so we can relax and let the story unfold.

To decide which side is 'winning' I will 'count' the successful attacks. To ensure that harder victories count for more, I will use the following formula: Unit Defense x Unit's Remaining HP x Terrain Bonuses. Thus a veteran spear fortified on a plain will give 9 points [3(hp)x2(defense)x1.5(terrain: 1+.25+.25)]. A veteran musket fortified in a size 12 city on grassland will result in 32 points [4(hp)x4(defense)x2(terrain: 1+.25+.25+.50)].

All attacks will occur in pairs against the highest value targets within reach. The sides will alternate initiating the attacks. One could argue that the side that goes first stands to gain the greatest glory but it also stands to reason that they will also face the greatest danger and possibility of loss.

To top it all off, if the unit retreats it receives no credit for the damage it caused. Thus it is possible for the 2nd unit to poach weaker targets, but as the equation is based on remaining hit points they will receive a lower reward.

The contest ends either when all units of either side are destroyed or the side with the most points when the 'wars' come to an end (defined as all civs on the ESC being dead or reduced to single city client states).

Because both units must remain together both units will be exposed on the IBT (assuming they are left exposed) with the stronger unit taking the greater risk. If they die on defense they receive nothing. If the win on defense they receive points equal to their defense / terrain bonus x hit points of the attacker killed. The stronger unit could count up some points on the IBT but as the 'winner' will be the side with the surviving units, the weaker unit also gains an edge.

If a winner is declared other then by the complete destruction of their contending units then the winner may select their next post - a cushy job hunting barbs, tip of the spear against Spain, etc.

In order to make this work I am proposing to push out the 'contending' units as fast as possible. To do this would require CommandoBob to agree to let Elephantium's units to be produced before his units are produced, if that is okay. Once they are done I will then alternate creating units between the Sparthage/POP guerilla list and CommandoBob's varied unit list until they are all created.

As for the Guerilla-naming order: consider it rescinded. You should still use those names for guerilla units, however, you are no longer barred from advancing to rocketry.

I'm not giving up on this yet! Hannibal will attempt to accomplish this if at all possible! I didn't think a nuclear launch would be possible either but now the future is looking so bright I have to wear shades. I have a special plan that will require 22 units for a nice visual, so 25 guerilla builds shouldn't be too over the top. We'll see. ;)

Part 1
Spoiler :

Hannibal was pleased to receive a visit from his Science Advisor in 1792AD. Precisely as schedule, Carthage had discovered the secrets of Sanitation.

1792ADSanitation.jpg

This was an important milestone for Carthage. Not only did Hannibal now have a clear idea what a toilet looked like but with hospital and rails the five cities of Carthage could become an economic powerhouse of the world, assuring that Carthage would at least remain competitive with the remaining nations of the world and thus have options available for trading. Thus the big question was . . . what next?

Industrialization would lead to the Corporation and stock markets. But electricity would be needed to bring water to New Crobuzon to make it as productive as the other cities. In the end Hannibal decided upon Electricity. He ordered full funding for scientific research. If funding held up it could be accomplished in 24 years. Hopefully all tribute would continue uninterrupted, at least for a while and Carthage’s growth via hospitals would increase research and profits overall.

All hospital pre-builds were immediately swapped to hospitals. This worked very well because a hospital was immediately constructed at Caseyboy97’s Asylum and New Hannibalopolis. The Lord of Flowers, Carthage’s current MGL was sent to Smilin’ Bob to rush the construction of the hospital.

The War against France was continuing nicely. 1,200 Toxic Cavalry, 500 knights and 1,000 heavy cavalry were moving now moving on Paris. A pitiful band of ‘regular army’ pikes were identified as Paris’ best available defenders. Joan’s star was certainly setting.

America had advanced the 44th Philadelphia Cavalry and 79th Boston Cavalry against the LoD but, because of their positioning, Hannibal decided it was better to allow them to move closer in before hammering them into the ground. With the railway completed to the Fortress of Solitude, OMIA could now move freely from one theatre of war to another. Once healed the Old Man would gather a band of fast moving cavalry and remove the many unwanted cities near the LoD.

In 1794AD the Americans had decided to hold a parade and marched past Coil Peak.

1794ADAmericanParade.jpg

The 44th Philidelphia and 79th Boston Cavalry were joined by the remainder of the 1st Division of the VI Corps, the 66th Washington Cavalry and the 54th New York Cavalry. The command elements were also arriving on field, the 11th New York Muskets and the 61st San Diego Longbows.

The American parade deserved (among other things) fireworks. The Carthaginian Batteries moved to Coil Peak and began to drop stone and solid shot upon the 700 men of the massed 79th Boston and 66th Washington Cavalry. Both units were severely wounded. Between the two units more than 300 men were rendered combat ineffective. This was a lethal blow. Worse, the Americans had decided to move along the coast. ICS Honor of Civinator FR-04 was on hand to bombard the lead element, the 44th Philadelphia. A full quarter of the men in the 44th were wounded in the shore bombardment.

The Carthaginian units waited only long enough the shelling to stop to move on the attack. The elite heavy cavalry of the Atomic Knights were removed from guard duty at Snakeneck Mountain to make the attack on the 44th Philadelphia. Shell shocked, the 44th Philadelphia simply gave way to the heavy cavalry, throwing down their weapons and fleeing the field.

The 79th Boston, a group of ‘regular’ cavalrymen had selected a ring of easily defendable hills to make their stand. Though their position was in range of the Carthaginian siege weapons, Toxic’s 6th Cavalry was sent to finish the attack. The 79th Boston was trapped in their fortifications when the Toxic 6th Cavalry pinned them down. A few attempted to run but were cut down. This did not prevent the 66th Washington, though wounded, from occupying their defensive works. The 6th cavalry could not continue the attack as the daylight had failed. Hostilities were ceased, at least temporarily and the Carthaginian commander of Coil Peak allowed the Americans to collect their wounded.

The attack on Paris was also executed but compared to the Cartho-American struggle it was anticlimactic. The feeble 1st, 3rd and 6th French Infantry Regiment of Pikes held the city – 9,000 pikemen in all. These were the last French defense. Toxic’s 2nd Cavalry made the open attack on the trenches of Paris. The 6th Pikes were inexperienced army regulars and their lack of training was clear to everyone. The 2nd Cavalry cut them to ribbons, forcing the 3rd Pikes to rush to their position over a large expanse of open ground. The 7th Cavalry cut them down as they tried to move into position but the men of the 7th had to dismount and enter the trenches to finish clearing them out, suffering minor wounds for their efforts.

The 1st Pikes rushed to close the gates and the Green Knights rushed to stop them. The reliable heavy cavalry threw themselves into the fight, pushing their way into the city only to find the 10th French Infantry Regiment of Medieval Infantry waiting for them. The 1st Pikes had crumbled, causing massive damage to the Green Knights, felling four of every five men. Unable to pursue their victory, the Green Knights were withdrawn.

Toxic’s 4th Cavalry, still within range, poured fire into the 10th Regiment in the hopes of dislodging them but it was to no avail. The combat turned to hand-to-hand and the 10th Regiment prevailed, forcing the 4th Cavalry back on their heels. Paris was saved. More Carthaginian units moved into range during the respite.

In 1796AD the trade embargo between Persia and America against Carthage. Hannibal sighed and turned to the comics. Then the news arrived that they were just kidding. A new pact was quickly signed. Then the Byzantines signed an embargo with the Mayans against Carthage. The Trade Advisor likened Carthage to Iran, wherever that was.

In a fierce naval battle ICS Bravery of Isabella GA-02 was destroyed by a cowardly American frigate. The Bravery held out to the bitter end and the American Frigate limped away from the battle. Run as they may, the ICS Raze of Bengal FR-05 was close at hand to avenge the Sparthaginian sailors. After a brief exchange the US warship was sent to the ocean floor without any significant damage to the Raze.

Even more daring, the wounded 66th Washington Cavalry, given time to withdraw, instead pressed forward, catching the crusaders of the Left Boot of templar_x and slaying the brave men. The 54th New York Cavalry also pressed forward and attacked the muskets of the Black Heap at Fort Mongoose. The Carthaginian Muskets smartly rebuked them. The 11th New York Muskets and the 61st San Diego Longbows also advanced on Coil Peak while the 70th Detroit Cavalry advanced to cover the wounded 54th New York and a supply convoy to set up a new forwards base to attack the LoD.

The batteries of Coil Peak finished shelling the 54th New York and the Atomic Knights finished them off with a stout charge. Hannibal’s patience with the Americans was over, as was their luck. OMIA was fully healed and burst onto the field. The first victim was the 70th Detroit Cavalry. Quickly encircled by the army, the cavalry were pinned down and butchered. Toxic’s 10th Cavalry were then called upon to finish off the 54th New York, the arrogant bastards that had attacked the Black Heap. The wounded Americans readily surrendered rather than being slain in a useless gesture. The supply train was captured and the America32-33 slaves were formed. Although the Old Man wanted to destroy San Diego next, the removal of the city of Shantung was more important for the moment.

The final assault on Paris was also ordered. Old Blood and Guts faced the strongly fortified 10th French Infantry Regiment of Medieval Infantry. The elite knights crashed into the city proper but the 10th Regiment refused to budge, beating back every attack at horrible losses for the Carthaginians. Few of the French were so much as scratched.

Infuriated, Toxic’s 2nd Cavalry began to rake the city with fire. Exhausted, the 10th Regiment was finally overpowered and forced to retreat. The Carthaginians honored their stout defense and allowed the men to leave in peace so long as they put their weapons down. Paris was not so lucky.

1798ADFallofParis.jpg

Gutted by fire, the citizens of the once proud capital were enslaved as French40 slaves.

The Carthaginian advanced was now sapped of strength. Wounded units were sent back to the Fortress of Solitude while fresh units were dispatched – 1,300 knights and 2,300 heavy cavalry.

With most of the improvements completed on the mainland Hannibal decided it was time for the joining of further slaves the cities of Carthage to encourage further growth.

And the embargo deal between Sumeria and Mayan ended in 1798AD, not that this mattered in the least.

The attack on Shantung began as scheduled. The Knights of Swifter Hooves began the assault against the People’s 37th Spears. To the great surprise of the knights and the Carthaginian commanders, half of the spears ran away in abject terror. The other half stood their ground and inflicted minor wounds upon the knights then also gave way, leaving the city vulnerable to destruction. The city was razed and the Chinese20 were formed.

In addition to his, Hannibal received wonderful news. The Americans had researched Industrialization! This was wonderful news because it meant that Carthage would not need to research it, it could be traded instead! Though the trade was not available yet, it would be in the near future and this was good news. It was also good that Carthage had not wasted any money researching a non-monopoly technology!

In 1800AD things had grown calm. The Mayans landed the Emerald Pikes of Calakmul with an Ajaw by the Line of Death, presumably to build a new city in Carthaginian land. Not gonna happen. Meanwhile the (American) 11th New York Muskets and the 61st San Diego Longbows had enjoyed the shelling so much of the previous year that they decided to stop on a nearby hill to enjoy more of the same. The 51st Boston Cavalry were also rushing to join. This heralded the arrival of the remainder of the VI Corps that was now down their 1st Division and had seen half of their 3rd Division destroyed as well.

The first order of business was to remove the 11th New York Muskets and the Emerald Pikes from the equation. The new arrived Cannon Battery called You’re Fired joined the collection of rocks and solid shot to destroy the defenses of both defending units. The Americans and Mayans tried to rally and join their commands but it was too late. The Slayers, a veteran band of heavy cavalry easily overran the demoralized Emerald Pikes, taking the Ajaw and his people prisoner. The Ajaw was made leader of slave bands Mayan51-52 and sent to work on the Carthaginian railway.

The Straw Dogs eliminated the pesky 11th New York Muskets form their hillside retreat. The muskets were trying to withdraw but there were too many wounded for them to escape. Their command destroyed, the commanders surrendered when the knights approached, swords drawn, clearing passing through the defensive fire of the 61st San Diego Longbows. Finally the 3rd Cavalry was called upon to assault the 61st San Diego, now exposed on the hill, hiding behind the once formidable trenches manned the 11th New York. Not having learned their lesson regarding the dangers of staying in the area, Toxic’s 3rd Cavalry assisted in the learning process. Longbows against Rifles was a bad match for the Americans and the 61st San Diego was quickly shuffled off the mountain and the mortal coil altogether.

While on Scouting duty, The Dark Brotherhood came upon the US 15th Reconnisance Cavalry accompanied by a supply train. Uncertain where it was destined, this was not good – the Americans were attempting to cut off the Carthaginian lines of communication to the French warfront. This could not be permitted. The invading cavalry were easily repulsed by the elite Dark Brotherhood and the America34-35 slaves created from the supply caravan.

One of the more pleasing reports was the arrival of a Hittite Galleon off the coast of New Crobuzon.

1800ADHittiteShip.jpg

The Navy of Sparthage welcomed them to Carthage by writing friendly and encouraging messages on cannon balls and then sending them to their new friends as fast (and at as high a velocity) as possible. When the crew of ICS Sacrifice of Sparthage FR-08 boarded them to deliver their travel brochers, the Hittites became ‘uppity’ and the ship had to be sunk.

Part 2
Spoiler :

1802AD brought the trade embargo between Persia and the Byzantines against Carthage to an end. There was more holy coffee spilt at Toxic’s Café and workers were requested to clean up the mess. Best of all, the 51st Boston Cavalry had nearly committed suicide against Fort Mongoose. Now protected by veteran musket, the mountaintop fortress was nearly impregnable.

The 51st Boston Cavalry crawled away form their assault upon the fortress to run into the patrolling Knights of the Thistle. Having heard the gun fire from the fort, the knights were prepared for the invaders. Swords drawn they fell upon the disorderly retreat of the Americans and slaughtered the remaining men.

Under the watchful eyes of OMIA the workers of the LoD had made good progress laying rails towards the battlefield. The Old Man ordered a backwater forest road destroyed so that the invaders would be funneled down a narrow corridor that could be fortified. More importantly, the war had come to the doorstep of new Chinese cities that were planted in the old Hittite lands.

The city of Ningpo lay before Carthage’s forces and within easy range of Carthaginian Cavalry. For now they were left alone because any victory would result in exposed cavalry. There was no need for that. Yet. POP’s Elite Rangers were on their way back to the LoD and when both armies were combined Carthage would have a free hand to destroy everything in its path. Byzantine tribute had but 16 years left which meant the Mayan’s time upon the world was coming to an end.

Hannibal had more important things on his mind. He had sent an envoy to Joan of the French asking for the surrender of all French forces to Carthage to avoid further strife. Though the French nation was to be destroyed forever more, Hannibal was willing to let the people simply leave the cities and disperse into the countryside. They could join barbarian bands or live egalitarian lives so long as the never gathered into another nation or caused trouble for the people of Carthage. After all, the Carthaginians would need cabana boys and caddies aplenty when they vacationed on the ESC.

1802ADFrenchLastStand.jpg

Joan refused this offer, insisting that her two remaining cities could withstand any attack by Carthaginian forces.

The new capital of France was Rheims. A city comprised of a half-million Frenchmen, the city was garrisoned with 4,000 pikemen grouped in two regiments. The total destruction of the French forces had changed the military designations. These were simply the 1st and 2nd French Infantry Regiment of Pikemen. The stout defenses were not to be marginalized. If the fighting occurred from street-to-street, the pikemen stood a good chance of pushing back the Carthaginian forces.

The Black Guard* were called forward first. The attack began well with the elite heavy cavalry pushing the 1st Regiment to the city limits. Then, predictably, the tide turned against the heavy cavalry when they could no longer maneuver. The Carthaginian commanders called for a retreat but the stubborn Black Guard would not give up the field. The Hessian Company was sent in to retrieve them but they were cut off by the advance of the 2nd Regiment. The Black Guard were lost in the melee, their battle flags disappearing in a mass of pikemen. The Hessians only narrow managed a fighting retreat, bloodied and exhausted.

The Snow Knights took the next attack. The elite knights were easily pushed back when a 3rd Regiment of Pikes burst from the city, flanking the knights and causing serious wounds amongst the men. The French suffered little damage. The Elite heavy cavalry of the Outriders, holding the flank of the Snow Knights, covered their retreat and smashed into the unguarded flank of the 3rd Regiment. This time there was no one to save the pikemen and they were overrun.

Feeling that the tide was turning the Hanged Knights rushed into battle but were brushed off by the 1st Regiment. The Toxic Knights followed suit. This time, the 2nd Regiment, with no support, was smashed by the Toxic Knights, their formations completely destroyed. The gallantry and power of the attack earned the Toxic Knights the recognition of an elite band.

The final attack on the wounded 1st Regiment was left to the Ghosts of the Pale Riders. Exhausted, the 1st Regiment finally buckled and, with the, the entire French defenses. The city of Rheims was overrun and destroyed. The French41-43 slaves were formed.

The last French city faced four companies of Carthaginian cavalry totaling 1,600 men. The approach of Toxic’s 2nd Cavalry revealed the presence of at least 4,000 pikemen but after the surprise at Rheims it was possible that there could be over 5,000 defenders.

Situated upon a ring of hills, the city of Tours would be a tough nut to crack. The 2nd Cavalry, never one to shy away, attacked. The commanders, thinking the defenses would easy break, pushed the men directly into the teeth of the enemy and the 2nd Cavalry was chewed up as a result.

But the attack was not a complete loss. The attack had revealed that the 5th Regiment of Pikes was only a and of army ‘regulars’. That put the strength of the city defenders at only 3,500 men, of which 1,000 had just died.

Toxic’s 7th Cavalry was already moving to cover the retreat of the mauled 2nd Cavalry. Before the 5th Regiment could complete their move into the trenches the 7th Cavalry struck. Modern rifles began to rip through men and only half of the men reached safety. Unable to dislodge them from the trenches with gunfire alone, the colonel of Toxic’s 2nd Cavalry ordered an assault on foot. By the early afternoon the 5th had been pushed out of the fortifications, leaving only the wounded 4th Regiment of Pikes to hold the city against attack.

Toxic’s 5th Cavalry made the final attack. The wounded 4th Regiment began to sustain heavy wounds before the cavalry ever approached. The pikemen finally accepted terms of unconditional surrender.

1802ADFranceDestroyed.jpg

Without the French, the Byzantines embargo deal ended. Such an agreement, after all, takes two parties for it to have any meaning. :D When the city fell two new slave bands were created, French44-45, the last French slaves that would be captured by Carthage. Joan was also captured and sent back to Smilin’ Bob for public ridicule. Hannibal made her dress as a clown to amuse the other citizens.

The brutal destruction of France sent a clear message to the rest of the ESC. The Carthaginians meant business and not every civilization would receive the soft touch given to the Sumerians and Byzantines. Hannibal’s conundrum with the Mayans and Hittites could now finally be solved. The Hittites, fearing total destruction, offered to give up all three of their satellite cities. Hannibal suspected they had a band of settlers wandering the area somewhere but that was of little importance. They would also give their world map and all 27 pieces of their gold. The cities of Hattusha, Ek Balam and Aleppo would be surrendered.

This would work perfectly. The Mayans were also willing to talk peace. The Mayans were willing to surrender their world map, all 65 pieces of their gold, tribute of 20 pieces of gold and three cities. :) They were willing to surrender the cities of Cozumel, Tazumal, and New Chichen Itza. This deal would allow the Mayans to easily consolidate however the peace treaty with the Mayans would be easy to violate. The mutual protection pact between the Mayans and the Persians meant that any attack on Persia would see Mayans violating the peace treaty, not Carthage. It was devious but would also be very effective.

Above all, the commands of Toxicman007 would be fulfilled. Thereafter no other cities would be given to a rival civilization.

Remember. This is my command.

Hannibal remembered the dream and he saw the unknown god before him. The shades slipped from the eyes of the mighty god so that he could stare directly into Hannibal’s eyes.

This is my command. Go forth and do my will!

He had heard and he would obey.

First the deal was struck with the Mayans and their cities were immediately destroyed. Hannibal would enjoy the tribute from the Mayans for the next 16 years until it was time to attack, unless, of course, something more interesting happened at an early time. For now Carthage would satisfy itself with destroying the stray American and Chinese cities.

The peace treaty with the Mayans had an unexpected consequence – the embargos agreed upon by the Mayans with the Hittites and Portuguese against Carthage suddenly came to an end. This was nice. Also, the sudden possession of the cities revealed the suspected spear/settler pair of the Hittites that were trying to get away. Hannibal decided to let them go for now and get done with this nasty business.

Next the deal was made with the Hittites. They were given peace for their world map, 27 pieces of gold and the cities of Hattusha, Ek Balam and Aleppo.

1802ADHittitePeaceTreaty.jpg

These cities were then turned over to the Mayans.

1802ADGiftofCitiestotheMayans.jpg

This also ended the Embargos agreed upon between the Hittites and America. Hannibal took one additional step. He quickly directed his Foreign Advisor to establish an embassy with the Mayans. This would only cost 46 pieces of gold. The city of Palenque was actually a fine city with much potential.

1802ADMayanEmbassy.jpg

It also had a fairly incredible garrison of 5 Regiments of Rifles and 4 Regiments of Pikemen. Its production of only 10 ‘shields’ every two years was not very impressive, however.

What was more important, however, was that the Mayans lacked knowledge of Medicine. The Mayans would give tribute of 5 pieces of gold in addition to a Right of Passage agreement and an alliance against America and China for Medicine! Best of all, by ordering an attack on Persia he could make the Mayan’s break their deal at their own expense and they would still be at war with America and China! The simplistic beauty of the plan was appealing to Hannibal. The Mayans would even throw in their world map and a side of fries!

1802ADMayanMADeal.jpg

Hannibal made the deal. It was too good to pass up. The deal had an additional consequence. When the Chinese attacked the Mayans the Persians declared on them. As Hannibal had plans for the Persians he would need to make sure the Chinese didn’t kill them.

In 1804AD more embargos against Carthage came to an end. The Persians and American were no longer in bed together. And in a fit of suicide, Persia declared war on America. Nice.

The Carthaginian people were so happy to have the Mayans and Persians as puppets that they offered to put a covered walkway between the throne room and Hannibal’s personal bedchamber. Hannibal was grateful for this upgrade but . . . how about a DOOR!

1804ADPalaceExpansion.jpg

Hannibal noted with a degree of feigned sadness that the Mayans had already lost the city of Calakmul. Poor saps. :D

With Carthage’s cavalry fully rested, it was time to go on the offensive once more. The city of Ningpo was the first target for Hannibal. OMIA was in the advance to help cover wounded, healing and retreating cavalry. Initial reports indicated the city was only held by 8,000 pikes, the People’s 40th and 45th Pikes. Toxic’s 1st Cavalry was ordered to attack. The 40th Pikes stubbornly held their ground, digging into the trench. When the Cavalry pressed forward to press the attack they were surprised when a volley of musket fire greeted their approach, knocking countless riders from the saddle. The 45th Pikes had, it seemed, traded its pikes for muskets. The fighting became hand-to-hand as the muskets continued to add their fire to the melee. Only after a long morning of fighting were the 40th Pikes routed out of their position. OMIA took the next attack against the 45th Muskets.

The Old Man easily overran the muskets and the city wall was cracked wide open. The city was razed and the people enslaved into the Chinese17 slaves. With this victory, Toxic’s 3rd, 4th, 6th, 9th and 10th Cavalry all advanced upon the city of Anyang while the cavalry responsible for the destruction of the French began their journey back to the LoD to heal, refit and redeploy. In addition, the cities of Carthage were training more cavalry units to increase the speed of the conquests against the Americans and Chinese (and soon the Mayans again ;D).

“Great Hannibal, we have a new opportunity!” The Trade Advisor said with a big smile. “Spain is willing to part with their world map, all 26 pieces of gold from their treasury and tribute of 24 pieces of gold. For knowledge of physics.”

“I thought our deal for silks was going to expire soon?” Hannibal inquired. “We will be forced to give them another technology to renew this trade.”

“Perhaps, or we could place a colony on additional ivory and gems and use those along with wines and ivory to make the trade.” The Trade Advisor said.

“Soon it will not make a difference. We will be the only civilization left that will be able to trade with Spain. And their colonization in the ESC is simplistic. We will easily be able to overrun them and contain them to their tiny island if they get a big head.” The Military Advisor said calmly.

“We need the income to continue our research, Lord Hannibal. We have but 14 years left on our income deal with the Byzantines. Once this trade expires, research will become rough once more and we have yet to secure Industrialization from the Americans.”

With these new developments the people of Carthage were mighty pleased with Hannibal. They offered to build a new addition to the palace in 1806AD. In spite of his constant pleas for a door, the people, in their wisdom, added an additional walkway from the palace ‘game’ room to Hannibal’s private restroom. :wallbash:

1806ADPalaceExpansion.jpg

Toxic’s 9th Cavalry was sent forward to scout the position of Anyang before the arrival of the other companies. To the surprise and pleasure of the Carthaginians, the city was found garrisoned only by pikemen! The 1,500 ‘regulars’ of the People’s 81st Pikes began to rush into the trenches to repel the scouting cavalry. The 9th Cavalry charged the position before the 81st could reach the trenches, cutting them down as they scrambled over the open plain. The 9th Cavalry road into Anyang flush with victory.

1806ADFallofAnyang.jpg

A band of Chinese settlers were caught huddling within the walls of the Anyang. These were added to survivors of the destroyed city to create the Chinese18-20. The slayers were immediately sent to protect the wounded 9th Cavalry while the slaves were left to their own devices. The hope was that the Americans and Chinese would be too busy with the Mayans to go after three exposed bands of slaves. But whether they lived or died made little difference to Carthage at this point.

OMIA pulled his army out of its camp and moved on San Diego and the remaining Cavalry scheduled to take Anyang were rerouted to assist the Old Man to take the city and then press forwards into America. :D Hannibal also received news that the units that had assaulted the French had returned for healing and replacements.

All else was quite until the People’s 36th Riders attacked the Slayers. The battle was fierce but the Chinese prevailed and the Slayers were themselves slain. The cheeky Chinese Riders claimed the battle standard as their own and began to call themselves the Slayers. This infuriated the Carthaginians who promised retribution!

By 1808AD the embargo between the Hittites and the Byzantines ended against Carthage, another sign that the economic sanctions imposed by the international community were destined to fail so long as Carthaginian technologies were in high demand.

The first order of business for Hannibal was to issue the combat orders to the Atomic Knights to destroy the Chinese ‘Slayers’. The Atomic Knights, fully rested and manned, fell upon the ‘Slayers’ and returned the favor. Not a man was spared. The banner of the Slayers was returned to Carthage to be retired. The few prisoners that were captured (before they were behead) reported that they were operating out of Chinan.

Hannibal immediately ordered a force of 1,700 knights and 600 heavy cavalry to take the city. Arriving on the outskirts of the city it was found that it was held only by the 3,000 men of the People’s 10th Spears.

The defenders, still hard at work, once more pillaged the American herd of horses, scattering them into the surrounding area. They had also come upon the American’s growing railways and would start to tear up these iron monstrosities to prevent the enrichment of the Lincoln and his annoying ministers.

Elsewhere, OMIA ordered Toxic’s 3rd Cavalry to make the assault upon the 67th San Diego Regiment of Muskets. The 2,000 muskets kept up a steady fire and almost proved themselves to be the equals of the better armed 3rd Cavalry. But the heavy repeating fire of the Cavalry finally overpowered the 67th San Diego in spite of the extension of their battle lines by the 68th San Diego Muskets. These were ‘regulars’ and numbered only 1,500 men. Many of the 68th San Diego were overrun before they could move into position but they gave as good as they received and Toxic’s 4th Cavalry limped away from the battle.

But San Diego had fallen to the advancing Carthaginians.

1808ADFallofSanDiego.jpg

The America36-37 slave bands were formed and sent back to make a road for Carthage that would lead them to the battlefront.

By 1810AD the real estate in old France was depressed with many shanty towns appearing where once there were prosperous cities.

1810ADMoreBadRealEstate.jpg

The Dark Brotherhood, tasked with the destruction of Chinan. The unfortunate People’s 10th Spears tried to hold their ground against the elite cavalry but their outdated phalanx was easily brushed aside. The Chinese Chairman had been hard at work in Chinan, however, and the people were quickly drafted into the 1st Auxiliary Chinan Spears. The 3,000 spearmen were only fodder for the Blackened Company and the city was destroyed. It was too small for a band of slaves to be formed so the city was simply razed and its people scattered or killed.

While scouting the Atomic Knights also encountered the 19th Washington Regiment of Cavalry. The veteran band of cavalry, while fierce on the attack, should prove vulnerable to the attack of the elite heavy cavalry of the Atomic Knights. The attack, unfortunately, was unsuccessful and though the Atomic Knights dealt a harsh blow to the 19th Washington they held the field when the gun smoke cleared.

At the close of 1810AD Carthage was poised to learn electricity and would receive a windfall profit of 457 piece of gold in the next budget, leaving Carthage with over 3,000 piece of gold to continue their research! The Mayans were at war with the Americans and Chinese while all of Carthage’s allies had seen fit to continue paying their tribute.

It was then that the elusive priests of CELTICEMPIRE appeared before Hannibal. Hannibal bowed deeply to the priests. “Godly priests of CELTICEMPRIE, I am most appreciative of your continued research at the university and the use of the unruly ambassadors!”

“We are not hear to discuss our research at the moment, Hannibal.” The priests admonished him. “We have a new command to give, a command inspired by Divine inspiration. You are to build a ship that carries no flags but shall keep its loyalties private. For this reason it shall be called a privateer. Once created it shall be sent forth to raid the commerce of our enemies and allies alike!”

Hannibal much liked this idea and ordered New Crobuzon to begin on this work immediately.

Not a problem, but just to be clear:

The units requested by Elephantium to pair up with the units of Sparthage will need to be produced before the units of CommandoBob. Once all of them are built, then the units of CommandoBob can be named, as listed earlier.

The units of Elephantium and Sparthage may be built/named in pairs, as needed, in order to keep the game and story moving along.

Turn 371-380

The Static Orders and Pending Orders can be found in the Spoiler; they are collapsed due to their length.
Spoiler :

Static Orders (cannot be overridden without consent of ordering player):

1. Play 5CC (5 city challenge) (pi4t)

9. Ten cavalry units must be named after characters from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. [Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Luna, Celestia, Derpy Hooves, Doctor Whooves] (Sparthage)
Spoiler :
In your stories, the pony the unit is named after must be the leader of that unit, they must act as they would in the show (many of them have wikia articles, don't worry). As to how the ponies get there, I'd suggest something involving them coming from the heavens as a blessing from Sparthage to his favorite people.

Under Discussion
Spoiler :
When going to war, each MLP unit must be paired with a unit loyal to Elephantium. Alternate between the two factions for attacks; any unit that retreats from battle is destroyed by loyalists from the other faction. Whichever faction loses more than five units first is defeated in the civil war and must be renamed to a naming scheme in line with the other faction.

Part 1

Spoiler :
Many things happened at the beginning of 1812AD.

First was the hurried footsteps of the Carthaginian Science Advisor. The man was practically beaming at Hannibal. “Great Hannibal, I have good news! Our search has accelerated to the point that I believe we may be able to, many years distant, build a great building called the UN!”

“How is that?” Hannibal said, confused.

“Hannibal, we now have the secrets of electricity!”

1812ADElectricity.jpg

The Science Advisor crowed. “And we may now learn the Scientific Method within 12 years! Only 12 years! This is great, Hannibal, and we may now irrigate the lands around New Crobuzon! This means we can grow our population even further! Soon we may be in a position to learn about the secrets of Fission which will allow us to build this great wonder!”

“What would we want with this UN?” Hannibal asked, curious.

“With it we can have the nations of the world elect us to lead them all into the future! This would be a great victory for Carthage and it would ensure our power over them forever! Muhahahaha!” The Foreign Advisor said with glee.

“No!” It was Spannibal himself that demanded the attention of Hannibal and all of the Carthaginian Advisors. “It would not be good in the eyes of the gods for any to live upon this world that do not worship the gods of Carthage! And do not forget, Hannibal, that your mother is a target of ridicule in those same nations!”

Hannibal’s face flushed red at this reminder. And to think he might have considered allowing them to live! “The wisdom of Sparthage is, of course unquestionable and these words ring true to my ears and warm my heart, godly Spannibal! I shall destroy them all!”

Once more Hannibal’s dream returned to them. Yes, destroy them all, but not before they are consumed by fire! Hannibal’s vision was beginning to clear.

“Great Hannibal, if we are to proceed with the destruction of our enemies, what should we research next? Without Industrialization we cannot learn the secrets of the Corporation or anything that follows!”

“What is available to us, then?” Hannibal asked.

“We could learn the secrets of Replaceable Parts, but that would take longer than the Scientific Method. Hannibal thought of this and then decided to pursue Replaceable Parts. With this knowledge would come the ability to train infantry and this would secure the LoD and allow Carthage’s men to run around the ESC unopposed. Hannibal could only hope that the knowledge of Industrialization would be proliferated soon.

In the end Hannibal decided to finally spread the knowledge of Sanitation to Theodora so that she could, hopefully, tempt Industrialization away from the Americans or at least begin earning more gold tribute that could be fed to Carthage. Sanitation was given to Theodora for her world map and her entire treasury of 118 pieces of gold. The true goal was to try to gain Industrialization and Hannibal prayed this would be soon be possible.

Hannibal also gave knowledge of Sanitation to the Mayans for their world map, all 67 pieces of their gold and their world map.

As Hannibal dismissed his advisors Spannibal had one more thing to say. “Hannibal, I have learned that a privateer has been created by Carthage.”

“Indeed, it is hoped that this ship will be able to prey upon our allies with immunity and prevent further colonization around the world.”

“No, great Hannibal, this cannot be done. The attractions at Sparthage’s Voyage have encountered problems and we need a place for the pirates to sing, cavort and carry on. The ship must remain in Carthaginian waters and give rides to the children and citizens to generate income for additional supplies of spit and polish.” Spannibal commanded.

Hannibal, dejected, could only agree. The ship was given the name the CELTICEMPIRE and docked outside the harbors of New Crouzon on the hopes that at ship might reach so far as to be attacked. Until then it would spend its time sailing around the harbor for the amusement of the Carthaginian people.

1812ADPrivateer.jpg

OMIA was also on the move towards the Americans. The advance halted short of Mayan territory when the retreating 19th Washington Regiment of Cavalry was located. The Americans had begun to consolidate its forces. The 101st Calakmul Regiment of Cavalry, the first non-native American military unit to become part of the Army of the Potomac, had moved forwards with a supply train to secure the area near Yaxchilan.

The Old Man immediately ordered the attack. The Army advanced with a vengeance. The 101st Calakmul were easily dispatched. The Outriders, an elite band of heavy cavalry, were given the honor of attacking the wounded 19th Washington Regiment and avenging the Atomic Knights. The 19th Washington Regiment perished in the attack and the America38-39 slaves were formed from the supply train.

America’s forward units brushed aside, the Old Man pressed into American Territory where he would meet with the Defenders to consolidate their battle front. The attack against America was ordered to continue immediately. The Toxic’s 6th Cavalry was ordered to attack the 103rd Calakmul muskets and the assault was carried out without fault. This revealed the 37th Detroit Cavalry that were using the city as a healing and staging area. Toxic’s 5th Cavalry were ordered to seize the city and destroy it, if possible.

Though the final attack would leave them exposed the 5th Cavalry obeyed the command and overran the wounded 37th Detroit, destroying the city and forming the America40 slave band. All healed cavalry were immediately routed to OMIA to press into America. Now that they were losing cities the real carnage could begin.

An order was also sent to POP’s Elite Rangers to transfer their command over to America to eliminate the threat of Lincoln once and for all. Given 2,400 knights and 500 heavy cavalry, POP’s Elite Rangers were more deadly then ever. The target package would include Atlanta, then Detroit and finally Chicago. With these cities eliminated by POP’s Elite Rangers, OMIA would invest Washington. Their capital shattered, the Americans would fall.

As expected the People’s 30th Longbowmen attacked the wounded Toxic’s 5th Cavalry and the Carthaginians lost another brave company of men. But back in Carthage three new bands of Cavalry had been trained – Toxic’s 16th, 17th & 18th Cavalry.

Advancing on Atlanta OMIA found the city to be garrisoned with only 4,000 muskets – the 39th Detroit Muskets and the 52nd Atlanta Muskets. The attack was planned carefully. First the People’s 39th Longbows were eliminated from the area by Toxic’s 8th Cavalry. Old Man Iron opened the attack with the army, destroying the 52nd Atlanta Muskets when they overran the trenches protecting the city. The road was now open to the city. A coordinated attack was begun by the elite 1st and 11.1 Cavarly. Both were rebuffed with little damage to the remaining 39th Detroit. Hardened veterans the muskets remained in their fieldworks, laying down a steady fire that beat off the 1st Cavalry, which came closest to overrunning them. Losing half of their men in the defense, every commander expected the 39th to buckle under the withering fire of the 11.1 Cavalry. In reality the heavy fire of the 39th Detroit was so steady that the 11.1 Cavalry melted away as though ice in a blast furnaces. Defeated, the commanders called off the attack to protect their command.

It was not until the veterans of the 10th Cavalry were called forward that the city finally fell, though even the 10th Cavalry lost over 50% of their fighting strength in the attack.

Two new slave bands were formed from the city, America41-42.

To the great surprise of Carthage, a secret Chinese Landing had taken place, unobserved, in 1814AD. The People’s 44th Riders attacked the elite Summer Knights while they were in camp but the attack did not occur as expected. The Summer Knights had years to fortify their camp and they were well protected when the Riders attempted the ambush. The 44th were utterly destroyed. But that was only the beginning of the invasion. The 45th Riders along with a supply train appeared just Southwest of New Crobuzon, blocking the supply route.

Turning the tables on the Chinese invaders, the Summer Knights used the railways to fall upon the 45th Riders. Expecting the American garrison to be destroyed by the 44th Riders, the 45th Riders were completely unprepared for the attack. They were quickly destroyed and the supply wagons confiscated, creating the Chinese24-25 slaves ( I found two sets of workers labeled 18-20, so I had to rename them. So hard to keep track of all these slaves! ).

In a great feat of foolishness the Americans moved the 59th Detroit Muskets and the 11th New York Cavalry out of Detroit on the eve of a great battle. For POP’s Elite Rangers with a large number of escorts, including 800 newly arrived cavalry, were within striking range of the city! POP’s Elite Rangers decided to make the open attack upon Detroit, advancing against the 1,500 muskets of Detroit’s 82nd Regiments. The fighting was brief. Totally overwhelmed, the muskets were pushed aside by the mighty army. Their swords empowered by the divine power of the Prince of Persia, all opposition withered.

It was only with the destruction of the 82nd Muskets that the 16th Detroit Muskets, a band of conscripts from the city, were revealed. This was precisely why the Rangers were now accompanied by Toxic Cavalry. However the city was only of moderate size and the approach was over an open plain. The defenders, being conscripts, it was determined that the Savannah Knights would take the first attack. The conscripts panicked at the charge of the veteran knights and half of them tried to run. The remaining 100 rifles laid down a heavy fire but it wasn’t enough. The Knights breeched the defenses and killed the riflemen in hand-to-hand combat, sword against bayonet. Detroit was put to the torch like so many other cities of Carthage’s enemies.

The survivors of the city became the America 43-45 slave bands. This opened a new route to invasion and 2,000 cavalry were sent to join the Defenders. If possible they would assault Washington itself. At the same time OMIA began to clean up the 3 companies of Chinese Longbows that had wandered onto the battlefield. The Meta Knights slew the People’s 22nd Longbows while Lances of Steel slew the 24th Longbows, all in open combat upon Mayan fields.

Unfortunately the retreating Meta Knights were slain by the returning 11th New York Cavalry. It was a sad day for the Carthaginian People.

A great debt fell upon Carthage in 1820AD as the monetary deals with the Byzantines came to an end. Carthage was now paying 266 pieces of gold each cycle to continue the support of their research. Hannibal news this pace could not be sustained eternally but he hoped it could give Carthage the chance to get ahead in research a while longer. At its current pace all funds would be expended in 24 years modified only for the gold captured from enemy cities and barbarian camps that could be seized. Hopeful new deals could also be forged.

OMIA struck at Chicago but the first real American defenders were found there. The 400 veteran rifles of the 9th Chicago met the scouting Toxic 6th Cavalry. OMIA was immediately advanced and the rifles assaulted. Thought the army suffered heavy damage in the assault, the 400 rifles of the 9th Chicago were no match for the assembled knights. The city’s defenses began to crumble. The wounded 99th Miami Muskets were revealed holding the city. Unable to believe their luck, the 6th Cavalry pressed forward, storming through the trenches towards the city. The 99th Miami rushed to fill the void left by the fallen 9th Chicago and were torn apart by the approaching cavalry.

Only the arrival of the 63rd San Francisco Cavalry saved the city from destruction. This miracle only lasted a moment as Toxic’s 16th Cavalry appeared on the field and drove the American Cavalry out of the city. The retreating survivors were cut down though the 16th had suffered badly in the attack. The city was destroyed and the America46-47 slaves formed.

The Toxic 2nd Cavalry slew the People’s 14th Longbows in the open and covered the retreat of several of Carthage’s wounded units.

The year of 1820AD was also the year that Washington was placed under attack. Five Carthaginian Cavalry were tasked to take the city: the 3rd, 4th, 9th, 13th and 14th. If they could destroy the city then American would be finished. The American Capital’s best guards were the 1,500 muskets of the 1st Washington. It was also suspected that the 4th Philadelphia and 110th New York Muskets (also regulars) were also garrisoned in the city and it was also believed that conscript riflemen were probably within the city.

Even so the attack was to commence. With only muskets before them, over open ground, the only unbalancing factor was the size of the American capital, though the pillaging of the Defenders had kept the size of the city to a reasonable size.

The attack was determined to go in order as stacked, 3rd to 14th Cavalry. The 1st Washington held the center while the 4th Philadelphia was placed to the left and the 110th New York to the right, shoring up the flanks and the city’s defenses.

Toxic’s 3rd Cavalry immediately turned the flank of Lincoln’s army but destroying the 4th Philadelphia. Rumors had spread the Philadelphia itself was the target and the commander had ordered the muskets to abandon their post and make for home. Only the 3rd Cavalry came upon them while they were abandoning their defenses and slaughtered the infantry.

Encouraged by the attack of the 3rd and hoping to take the 1st Washington as they rushed to extend their line, Toxic’s 4th Cavalry struck but was smartly rebuked by the heavy fire of the muskets. Though regulars they proved to be a tough nut to crack. Toxic’s 9th Cavalry had better luck against the 110th New York. Distracted by the battle in the center the commanders of the 110th New York started to pull some of their strength to assist the 1st Washington. The hammer blow of the 9th Cavalry broke the ranks of the New Yorkers and sent many of them stumbling back into the city.

Believing they could now envelope the 1st Washington, Toxic’s 13th Cavalry swung through the devastated defenses of the fleeing 110th New York only to run directly into the advancing 22nd St Louis Muskets who had force marched, covering 30 miles in two days to arrive at the battle just in time to save Washington. The 22nd St Louis, however, exhausted from their march, were no match for the rested and fast moving 13th Cavalry.

Once more the 1st Washington’s flank was exposed. This time there was nothing to stop Toxic’s 14th Cavalry from overrunning the weary defenders and America’s capital city fell.

The citizens of the capital of the hated Americans formed the America48-52 slaves. The conquest of America was going well indeed!

To open the path to New York the Black Devils attempted to slay the People’s 30th Longbows but in a botched attack the charge was held up and the deadly Chinese longbows destroyed the knight formation. Finally a retreat was called. Unable to allow this debacle to stand, the Stainless Silver Knights attacked the 30th Longbows. This time the attack was perfect and the longbows were destroyed. The Hawks were recognized for their prowess with the laurels of an elite band.

This was also the year that Hannibal hatched a new plot against the Mayans and Portuguese. The Byzantines, friends of Henry of Portugal and cosigners of a mutual protection pact, remained a cash cow that Carthage could tap. For knowledge of Electronics the Byzantines would willing to surrender all 226 pieces of gold in their treasury and tribute of 194 pieces of gold!!! This, of course, was a must have for Carthage and its research efforts. The trade of Electricity would also enable them to attract knowledge of Industrialization from the Americans just in time for Carthage to trade the Byzantines Replaceable Parts for Industrialization and then begin on the Corporation.

When the peace deal between Carthage and Portugal expired, Hannibal would then give the Mayans knowledge of electricity for an alliance against Portugal. Hannibal would then send scouts to poach any Portuguese units and settlers that wondered out of bounds while allowing the Mayans and Portuguese to fight it out, stalling both of them until Carthage could do permanent damage to the Americans and Chinese, which at the current rate shouldn’t take much longer than 40 more years.

The deal with the Byzantines was struck and then Sanitation was trade to the Sumerians for their world map, all 16 pieces of gold in their treasury and 14 pieces of gold as tribute. This placed Carthage at a modest deficit of 58 pieces of gold per budgeting cycle, a rate that could be sustained for 120 more years not accounting for the many barbarian camps that Carthage regularly raided.

The Byzantines were up to their old tricks. In 1822AD a new embargo was inked between Theodora and Mao of the Chinese. So be it. The sad news also reached Carthage that Toxic’s 16th Cavalry, wounded and exposed, was destroyed by the People 72nd Longbows. Vengeance was sworn by the Old Man for the loss of his loyal men. Unfortunately for America two new companies of cavalry had already been trained and were on their way over. Carthage could afford to exchange one company of cavalry for every city the Americans lost.

The biggest attack against America was the planned assault against New York. This would be a difficult attack as the 13th New York Rifles were now guarding the approaches to the city. Given the difficulty of the attack and the size of the city, it was determined that POP’s Elite Rangers would take the first attack. It was suspected that at least on other regiment of rifles were guarding the city but the Rangers had 800 cavalry and 800 knights to carry the attack against the two rifle regiments.

The Rangers stormed the city walls, the army commanders refusing to allow their men to rest or entrench in the face of the massed and disciplined fire of the 13th New York. The Rangers lost a third of their effective strength in the attack but the 13th New York was overrun revealing the expected 96th St Louis Regiment of Rifles. These were both part of the 2nd Division of the VII Corps. Toxic’s 18th Cavalry attempted to take advantage of this breech but the charge failed when the 41st Miami Rifles suddenly formed and fired into the 18th Cavalry’s flank. Toxic’s 18th Cavalry buckled under the flanking fire and the entire command was lost in the attack.

Toxic’s 8th Cavalry followed the attack, turning the flank of the new arrived 41st Miami Rifles. The newly arrived relief unit was destroyed but the 8th Cavalry were heavy wounded. Their quick response, however, earned them the respect of an elite band. The Order of the Elephant was tasked with destroying the last of the 96th St Louis, which they did flawlessly, for the remaining 200 men were low on ammunition and had no further support.

Just as the city was about to fall, however, the 19th San Francisco Cavalry dismounted and rushed to the defense of the city. The White Company, the final unit in the Carthaginian advance, at first made slow gains. The cavalrymen kept up the pace of the fire and killed or wounded a full 50% of the attacking knights before they even reached the trenches. But it was in hand-to-hand combat that the Carthaginian Knights excelled and they delivered. The city of New York fell under the swords of Carthage.

The citizens of New York became the America53-57 slave bands. Unfortunately the White Company was now left exposed and would likely perish in the counterattack but every man knew that the quick destruction of the Americans was worth the few men that would pay the price.

Back on the border between America and the Mayans the (now homeless) 22nd New York Cavalry (the remaining Regiment of the 2nd Division of the VII Corps) was attacked by Toxic’s 7th Cavalry to secure the line of retreat for Carthage’s military units. This attack succeeded flawlessly, for the 22nd New York, hearing of the fall of their city, had lost heart and mostly just melted away under the attack.

But this revealed a bigger problem. The 15th Philadelphia Regiment of Cavalry was also covering the line of retreat. This could not be allowed. The Stainless Silver Hawks were sent back to dispatch the 15th Philadelphia, which they accomplished but only with difficulty. The Americans were well entrenched and began rolling rocks down on the advancing knights. In the end a general retreat was accepted and the Defenders fell back with their escorts and slaves.

The Americans planned a new offensive and the 71st Philadelphia Cavalry attacked the Second Knights who were dispatched to cover the retreating Toxic’s 6th Cavalry. The brave sons of Carthage’s wealthiest families proved themselves worthy of their veteran status but fending off the attack of the American Cavalry. Heavily battered, the 59th Detroit Muskets, who had long wandered the Mayan countryside even though their home city had been destroyed, attacked the wounded Second Knights, forcing them to retreat and leave the 6th Cavalry exposed. Only the attacks were over and no attack came. No one blamed the Second Knights for their retreat. After absorbing the attacks of two American Regiments, the 6th Cavalry would now be able to extend, escape and heal.

The remainder of 1824AD was used by Carthage to shuffle its military. The Chinese were advancing all manner of Longbows. Of greater importance was the band of Chinese muskets, the People’s 11th Muskets. This unit was guarding a band of settlers that could not be allowed to build a city. The Outriders, long n the service of Carthage, destroyed the People’s 11th Muskets by splitting their men into two groups. The band that made the front attack was comprised of 400 heavy cavalry. The remaining 200 men rode far around the flank and attacked the muskets from rear. Though ultimately successful, the lead elements of the Outriders suffered heavy damage, losing 300 men. The Chinese26-27 slave bands were formed from the settlers.
