Hi folks,

post your systems specs and tell if there's any problems running the game. This will help those of us who have "boderline" systems to figure out if we need an upgrade! And, please, do not make this thread a boasting contest for your "super-uber hardware." ;)

Take care now!

Celeron 2.4GHz, 376 RAM, Intel 82845G video card

It doesn't work well enough to play. No T&L, so alot of graphics missing.
Appears to be very slow.

who said anything illegal? Someone's a bit overzealous today. Civ isn't about the graphics, and if they can't understand that part of their sales strength is attributable to selling to non-gamers (those of us with NEW intel graphics chips in our laptops), then they could have problems.

I hope our friendly moderator hasn't scared people away from posting, because I need to know if I'm going to be able to run the game before I buy it... I'm don't have the money to throw into a game I can't play.

AMD1700, 512 RAM, Radeon 9000- It loads and goes through Nimoy's intro but does not get past the initial 4000 bc screen and freezes. Also the play disc is incorrectly labeled.

Civ IV WORKS on my machine...

Sempron 3000
1 GB PC 3200
Geforce 6600GT
ASUS K8N Mobo (NForce3 chipset)

Latest drivers for Sound, Graphics, and Mobo CHIPSET as well... people having probs running should install the latest Chipset drivers for their mobo... I had probs with alot of games until I installed the latest NForce drivers for my Mobo...

Is there a list of supported graphics cards somewhere?

anything newer than Geforce 2, radeon 7500. includes xabre cards, excludes all intel shi*sets

Is that "newer and equal" or simply "newer". I have a Radeon Mobility 7500 and it has T&L.

We are talking about old video card technology here folks. I bought my 7500 about 2 years ago on the cheap (about $70) and I bought it cause of T&L. Even though its cheap it runs most of the new games even still. You could easily find a cheap card at a local store if your game doesnt' run well. If you are still not sure here is a good resource to find out:

Impossible. The computer doesnt officially belong to me(long story), I cant change parts and it's a laptop so I cant even replace the part and later stick the old one back in. :(

Civ 4 seems to work for me. I haven't played for long (as I REALLY have to get back to work), but I'm able to roam around the map, zoom in and out, and build a city.

I have a Dell Inspiron 600m laptop with:
Pentium M 1.5Ghz
1GB RAM
Radeon 9000 Mobility 32MB

I notice that the box says that the minimum graphics card is a 64MB card, but mine is a 32MB and so far it hasn't complained.

Shepherdboy

Yay!

My only serious weak point seems to be the 32MB memory on the video card, but Shepherdboy seems to have no problems with that. :)

Although the site does say:
"Requirements not final... The analysis below is not final". :(

Hooray! That's a good sign for me.

I have the same laptop with a slightly faster processor (1.6), half the RAM (512MB), but a 64 MB Mobility 9000.

I know like three people share my notebook card, nvidia GeForce FX Go5200. So has anyone tried the game on this card yet? (Mine is 32MB, but I know a lot of you have 64MB.) I'm too scared to open the box right now.

Thats because its based on what the box says. If you pass I wouldn't lose sleep over it and enjoy the game!! I've found it to be very accurate, except in extreme cases.

Of course the only way to be 100% sure with computers is to run it, hence the qualification statemen. I'm surprised firaxis didn't come out with a demo. Maybe they will.

How can you check if your graphics card supports t&L

It's not a perfect method, but if it starts with Intel it's not good.

If it contains Radeon or Geforce you have a decent chance. At least is does have T&L.

If it's Geforce FX or 6600 or above you're fine. If it's Radeon 9600 or above (like X800 or anything with X) you're fine

It seems you have the hardware to run it but don't expect anything beautiful or fast :)
