I kinda feel the same way. With all the talk of the game being dumbed down it makes me wonder how complex Civ 4 was because I find this game quite complex enough for my little brain!

I think that's a bit unfair to the nay-sayers. Simple fact is the game isn't fun for them, or as fun as they had hoped. Their opinion is just as valid as anyone else's.

As someone said, the polls are showing that most people like the game, but if you like it, you'd rather play than post about it as much. And when the 5 fans do post, it tends to be in Strategies and Tips. Try there.

Oh, and count me among the fans. I love it.

I was at first a little disappointed with 5, any time you play a game you love for so long the change in mechanics can be disturbing. But even though I was somewhat disappointed I still had to play a few more turns and ultimately that is what makes this series what it is.

Does the game have warts, absolutely, how it got through play testing with the AI,diplomacy and graphic issues is beyond me but I have no doubt that the core of the game is excellent. 4 had issues when it first shipped as well, I am fairly confident that the mod community and Firaxis will eventually get most of the issues resolved and four years from today we will be saying this is a great game, way better than Civ 4

In a couple months when all the idiots who came here to QQ are done posting their crap on these forums we can get back to what this community is about - delving into the depths of the game and really being constructive about it. Unfortunately much of this community is very young and so they have no concept of the shock of the new and how it takes a bit of getting used to something before they really can get immersed in any nuance, especially in a grand strategy game.

I for one can't wait til all the knee jerk posts cease on the forums.

This is completely incorrect, nearly every review of this game has been stellar. Metacritic score is 91/100 (as an aggregate of 35 review sites).

It is only here where a vocal community post their venom that people may be skewed into thinking that everyone hates CivV.
