I guess I deserve this.

I'm having a bit of a deja vu here. Did you have problems with scratched cds before and asked for help here?
Yes. It was only one CD that time, and I bought that album again, but that one is one of the CDs that got damaged this time.

They make it worse.

I checked my CDs again. Two more of them have holes.
Well, you have to remove the sand first!

I'm not going to use the case again. Even if I tried to remove all the sand, there will still be a couple of grains that are impossible to get out.

I'm not talking about in the case, I'm taking about removing the sand before putting them through the CD grider thingy.

Until he looked in the case, there was equal probability of sand being in there, or not being in there. As soon as he looked, he collapsed the wave function. In some parallel universes, there was sand, in others none, and in a few, there were actually live fish.

This is unfortunate but the good news is you have it on your hard drive so when you get lemons make lemonade. :D Hopefully your civ3 victory CD wasn't in there. Did the sand come from a zen stone garden or something? I like raking mine.

The cat can be affirmed as neither dead nor alive, if e know there is a cat.
Well lets try to approach this scientifically: Its a box, so theres a got to be a cat in it, you know how they love boxes. If theres sand in the box, chances are theres a live cat in there using it as a litter box. If there are live fish, the cat must be dead.

Sorry - it's the Spock avatar...

"Dammit, Jim - pull yourself together man! Throw out the blasted CDs, and the silly case, pull yourself up by the bootstraps - get a job, and go buy an iPod! Make a command decision for Christ's sake!"

Way too much self-pity in this thread. Makes me wonder what kind of music you're listening to. Maybe go with something a bit more upbeat. (Hard to find nowadays, I'll admit - that's why I listen to "classic" rock) "classic"

Chukchi, do you deserve any good things to happen?

Do you live near the beach? Have your CD's ever been to the beach? Is there a chance your CD's took a trip to the beach without your knowledge? Do you have siblings? Do you have siblings who might put sand in your CD's? Are you sure it's even sand? Minute metal filings perhaps? Some people sleep walk. Any chance that you are putting the sand in your CD's yourself on a sleepwalk? Perhaps to punish yourself?

Warning: your remaining CD's are in great danger! They will be destroyed by sand unless you tell us the rest of the mystery. Withhold nothing. We can help.

It could be anything tiny like sand grains.

Probably not.
