You all have steam right? Do you like to control military units on large battlefields?

Well, I invite you all to come over and play some World in Conflict. It's an awesome Real-Time Tactical war game that I've been playing religiously since 2007. Multiplayer games are 8v8 with ingame voice chat. It takes place in the cold war era and simulates tactical battles between USA, NATO, and the Soviets. It's a rich game with all kinds of units categorized into 4 major roles. You pick your role at the beginning of each battle. There's lots of firewoks, action, and nice big pretty mushroom clouds.

It's one of the most amazing war games ever created. It reached over 30,000 active players online at one time. Anyhow, I invite you to give it a try. You wont be dissapointed.

You can find this game on Steam http://store.steampowered.com/app/21760/

looks pretty good :) there was another game i saw recently that looked remarkably like this one, was called "ruse" i think.

Only problem is for me i don't really like real war much, i usually prefer the cartoony comedy of team fortress 2, but i may well give that one a go come Christmas, thank you for the heads up :)

Yeah, I've played RUSE (I was in the beta) and WiC is way better.

You can still buy the complete edition of this (also from the Russian perspective) pretty cheap through Amazon.com. No need for Steam really.

The game is ok, but CoH is much better.

No offence GoodGame, but comparing COH to WIC is like comparing Civ 5 to Sc2. Two completely different games.

Why's that, other than theme? It's a wartime RTS. WiC has micromange as well.

I'm not talking new CoH online, with heroes, etc.. I mean oldsckool.

Except not. Civ5 and Starcraft 2 are compeltely different games and genres, Company of Heroes and World in Conflict are both multiplayer-focused RTS games with somewhat different gameplay in the same way they are different from Starcraft.

As for myself, while WiC looks neat I tried a trial of it for a few days, still suffered from the same damn problem i have with all CoH/WiC/SC/AoE style RTS games, you can't stop and look at the cool graphics and fighting, if you do then some enemy unit will have snuck around and be raping your stuff even if you glanced away for half a second. That is why I don't play 'traditional' (for lack of a better word) RTS games.

I got the Collector's Edition when it first came out, and its a great RTS. For some reason, I haven't played it recently, and I haven't gotten the Russian expansion.

If you have any version of the game then the expansion multiplayer maps that come with the Russian expansion are all free ready to to be downloaded.

Half-month necro, but it's on page 1.

How many active players does WiC now have? I played back at release and loved it. Never could get the hang of infantry tho...
