I Keep on Getting Free Tech - How?

I'm in a Civilization Conquest game with accelerated production. Since my 100th turn, this pop-up said "Madame, our chemist have researched ____", when I never even researched that technology. This happened to me 10 times so far and I got 10 free technologies from it, but I don't know how it happens.

Does anyone know?

There are several ways to get a free tech:

If you build the Great Library, it gives you any tech known by 2 other civs (that you've met.) It only lasts until you discover education though, so I usually put it off for as long as I can. If you're the first civ to research Philosophy, you'll get 1 tech for free. If you're a scientific civ you'll get a free tech every time you enter a new era. Finally, if you build the Theory of Evolution wonder it gives you 2 techs for free.

Sounds like you built the Great Library wonder. Up to the point where you research Education, you get any tech that any two civs you know knows.

AP has nothing to do with it, as AP doesn't actually affect the turns per tech ratio.
