... and have returned to playing C3C  So... hi again, civ3 guys. I'm back.

I stopped playing it for about as long as i stopped posting at CFC OT, but the other day I was bored and decided to take out C3C and play.

Then I discovered, I don't remember nearly as many things as I should. For example, I started an early war with the Greeks and then remembered they have the upgraded spearmen...:hammer2: I also remembered that you're not supposed to wage war with your units already in the enemy's borders because it ruins your reputation... :cringe:

So could you guys give me some tips, especially concerning reputation because I have no recollection of how that works. That would help immensely.

:thanx:

Hi welcome back man. One thing about rep/attidude ( i get those mixed up!)is that trading depletable resources can be costly. If you have a surplus of iron and all sudden it drys up leaving you with only one, your people will halt all shipments leaving the country and use it them selves.

THis is all fine and well but tell that to the guys who pay'd a 20 turn supply with a lump sum or as part of a techtrading deal. THey have have right to be mad and you rep will suffer.

THis is a thing no matter how often you play can still happen. Im only reminding you cause sometimes dealing with 16 Civs or more you'll notice all a sudden you got a bad rep and your thinkin your innocent. More often then not this was the culprit

The next thing is Civs your at war with braking up your trade lines that before relied on going through their territory. Boths sudden shortages and tradeblocks are random stuff that happens in real life so its cool, I take it all in stride :)

Wouldn't the shipment continue while you yourself won't have any iron until the trade expires? I've been stung with that kinda thing a few times, especially when AI border expansion steal my extra resource.

Don't forget the total difference between rep and attitude. They can be furious with you, but if you haven't broken any agreements or had units in their territory before going to war, your rep should be fine.

Sure!.... thats what I said wasn't it? umm.. I mean I was just going with the title of thread..making big mistakes

No realy, seems Im very wrong indeed. This thread is more help for me and I havn't left the game in year!

Welcome back Cody! :wavey:

I always link this article when I see the word reputation in the OP.

It is written by microbe, I'm sure that both noobs and veterans might find something there.

Oh, come on Cody, you never were that good to begin with:lol:

Nah, I'm just kidding you.

BTW, I avoid having the Greeks in the game just because the will always be my neighbor and make attacking them more difficult. But I remember fighting the Carthaginians with their suped up spearman and beating them down with archers. Now that wasn't fun.
