This crudy POS computer has:
256 RAM
80 gig hd with 19 gigs left
Integrated (SP?) intel gfx card, has 3d shaders and can run Morrowind.
Pentium 4
I think that's all that's needed.

The better games I have on it already:

AOE 1 + 2
Cossacks 1, 2
Civ2
Stronghold 1
Sim City 3000
Morrowind (I should uninstall that, it takes up too much space and is slow on this comp)
Tropcio + Pirates Cove
1602 AD
Populous 3
Patrician 2
Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 (which no longer works on XP)

Price limit: $30 Canadian for one, $50 for two.

I am looking for mostly TBS and RTS. Maybe an older RPG.
The game must be really fun, replayable, interactive(ish), I prefer having soem funny easter eggs too.
I will check out the other tycoon games.

Freeware is nice but also if I can but iy in a store, or Amazon.ca or something. As long as shipping is $10 CAD or less.

EU2
Victoria: An Empire under the sun
HOI2

Thats all I can think of for now :p

If you get EU2 make sure you hit the community forums and try the modifications. They make the game IMO.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 (which no longer works on XP)

I have Windows XP and this works for me, so there might be some other cause for it not working. I looked at gamefaqs and downloaded the patch, but the patch doesn't work for me. Game works fine without the patch, so I don't know what was included in the patch and I think my version was a 're-release' (I bought it about a year ago) so may have already included the patch or something.

At Wal-mart and other stores they sometimes have a bundle pack that include 4 or more games, usually older games, for $20 or less. The bad thing is if some of these don't work on your computer or if you already have some of the other games, and these are cheaply packaged (no instruction manual). The good thing is that hopefully you would enjoy one or more of these games and it would be cheaper than buying just one game for $20 or more and finding out you didn't like it.

I bought some sets a year ago, they were all $20, possibly less, IIRC. You might still be able to find them at stores, or they might be for sale on Amazon, and there is probably other sets out there now. I have a bigger computer, so I don't know what will work on yours. The sets I bought were:

The Laptop Collection:
Alpha Centauri
Alpha Centauri: Alien Crossfire
Sim City 3000
Red Alert 2
Tiger Woods PGA Tour Collection

6 fantasy pack:
Dragon Throne: Battle of Red Cliffs
Prince of Qin (3 disks, style of play is like baulder's gate, different endings based on who you choose to join your party, the last patch is 1.30 and hard to find, but as long as you get 1.21 or higher you'll be OK)
Robin Hood: The legend of Sherwood (download the patch!)
Disciples II: Dark Prophecy
Disciples II: Servants of the Dark
Disciples II: Guardians of the Light
(the disciples series will probably have crappy/choppy graphics when playing the movies on your computer because it did when I had a cheaper computer than I have now).

The Command and Conquer Collection:
Tiberian Sun
Tiberian Sun: Firestorm
Renegade
Red Alert 2
Yuri's Revenge

EA Sports Collection (some of these will probably not run on your computer)
The one I bought had 5 games of the EA games from 2003 and it was $20.

Super Sized Fun:
Life
Clue
Roller Coaster Tycoon
Monopoly
This series isn't as exciting unless you like those board games. Roller Coaster Tycoon was about the only thing that made this worth the money.

Shogun: Total War is still my favourite of the series, despite it's rather lacklustre graphics now (and I say that as someone who doesn't care for such things). Maybe Medieval would work too? I'm no fan of it, but many would say it's the best.

I'm obviously going to support Europa Universalis and Hearts of Iron, Victoria may be worth a look in too.

Galactic Civilizations as well. Once again it's not my sort of thing, but I saw potential and a lot of people swear by it :)

Warcraft one and two.

Proof Amazon.ca is not very good: Vikings expansion to M:TW was $67 and would be shipped from Calaifornia

It's hard to find games under $30 that work on this machine (well, the ones I really want, like Half Life 1 >_<)

Well, some non strategy games that I used to play on my old machine (and it was far worse than yours):

The X-Wing Series (space fighter simulator)
Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale (RPG's)
Tachyon: Beyond the Fringe (space fighter simulator...with BRUCE CAMPBELL)
Jedi Knight (FPS)

First of all, PrinceScamp your comp is 2x better than mine.

Disciples II: Dark Prophecy
Disciples II: Servants of the Dark
Disciples II: Guardians of the Light
Seconded, you NEED to buy these. Along with
Disciples II: Rise of the Elves
Or at least just Dark Prophecy (wich is Disciples 2 "vanilla").

It's not from the computer. You were probably playing a :nono: version.
If not then maybe it was just a compatibility issue since i know a lot of ppl who had problems with the movies. I had no problems :smug:, and my comp was very low-end even at that time.

Huzza for Bamspeedy for playing Prince of Qin. :goodjob: (even tho i never finished it  )

Bother, I completely forgot to mention one of my most favourite games.

Outcast, if you can find it, is a particularly excellent adventure game. Brilliant storyline, atmosphere and puzzles. :goodjob:

Fallout 2 will work great on lower end machines.

Fun RPG !

My suggestion for a cheap price!

Ohh I like the first Stronghold thats a good one, but do you have the expansion Crusades?

Also Knights of Honor, of course, is a great game for a low end PC.
