Ok, I added my plutonian empire stuff to SMAC, which works great, but when I added a picture of myself and the skyline of a real life city, as well as adding city icons from civ2, the colors (of the additions, not the game) were off the chart. there was also a problem displaying the city icon.

The picture I am about to show you may or may not display properly depending on your computer settings...

If you look at the city Pisces Centauri on the far upper right, you'll see what I mean...

I don't know about the colors for your faction
but to make screenshots that work properly you have two options.

1. Open the paint program or whatever you use to save the files. THEN run SMAC. alt tabing between them will allow for a properly colored screenshot.

OR

2. In the Alpha.ini file, add the following line to the file, on it's own line:

DirectDraw=0

Here's a png of the skyline which you can compare it with the diplomacy landscape in the next post.

I tried that screenshot thing you described (did both suggestions at once), and it works. :thanx:

Here's a clearer screenshot of the faction color problem:

I just fixed the problem regarding how I appear in the diplo screen and in startup. The only thing left is to get rid of the box that the cities are in (see Pisces Centauri at the top right of the first post, so you know what I'm talking about).

The Networknode.org or whatever it is has a tutorial for graphics in it... It mentions the transparency color thing...

Networknode.org said:
Color 255, the last color, bottom right, is your transparancy color, but if you try to use that color the computer automatically reverts to color 252, the next closest thing to our transparancy color. To remedy this problem where you don ’t have squares around your bases in-game, (VERY aggravat ing), simply double click on color 252 and when your dialog box appears change color 252 to “any other color ”, thereby forcing the computer to use 255 when you say 255!
