I´m playing a noble game on a tiny, fractal map. I play as Brennus and havv met my two opponets, Monty and Napoleon.
I haven´t play much noble games (usually I play in warlord difficulty), infact this is my third game ever on noble.

So, i started the game untill I met Napoleon. He Has 8 cities and i have 4, and he has much more technologys.
What am I doing wrong? And what should you ´profesionals´ do?

I'd get more cities myself.

Seriously though, without more info it's hard to say. If you have a vanilla savegame, I could take a look at that and offer better advice. It will, in all likelihood, boil down to my original statement, though :)

TRADE, TRADE, TRADE!!!! The key to any success is trading, especially your techs. Don't be afraid to trade your tech with the AIs to get any techs you don't currently have. As for the empire size, if you build up enough force, you can triple your empire size in no time( you have 4 cities, Nap has 8, so you do the math;) ), by conquering the land. Make sure to check the Trading window often and see what techs your opponents got to offer.

But its like this. I have no techs that Monty and Nap don´t has. But they have about 10 that I don´t have. They have much more cities and my research is at 50%.

Best way is to research something the AI's don't already have. Then trade that tech to different AI's for different techs. You don't necessarily have to trace the AI's research path, although sometimes you have to. In an early game, try to get to Alphabet and see what you can get out of it from the AI's. As for cities, you might have less cities than the AI's, but you if you build enough force, you can take them down one by one and make them your own and raze undesired ones.

Hope this helps. Maybe you should post a save file so we all can see what's going on it the game. We'd all be glad to help you out! ;)

Well, I gave up. I played a few turns more without doing anything. I covered my continent with the help of 2 more cities but then I just let the game going to about 1700 AD.
But you can get a save from the game where it´s now. But I don´t know how to uppload the save file:blush:

click go advanced and then click manage attachements, you can choose a file from your own comp to upload to the forums then.

Since we're discussing this here i've a question for others: each time you upload a file to the forum here the upload bar goes farther from green to red. I guess that when it's all red you can't upload files anymore. Can anything be done about that (such as removing old uploads)?

if you have 4 cities and 50% slider on noble in 1700 AD what you need is an economy. Dont automate workers. Dont build random imporvements and do build enough of them! You allways want to work improved titles. Cottages is the simplest way(at least for me) to get a good economy up and running. On some maps it might be more beneficial to generate loads of great people using libraries/caste system to assign loads of great specialists. There are numerous threads on economy through this forum. Just spam loads and loads of cottages on most grassland and plains titles for your cities and you should see an economy develop. Place your cities so they have enough food. It is pretty simple once you get a hang of it. If you dont have an economy you wont get very far. Read some of sitsiuls game for example for some help. Waring isnt even needed at this level. Just learn to get together an economy. And yeah post a savegame so we can see what you are doing. In 1700 AD it might be too late to save it though you never know, I know most of my noble games would be finished by that time at least... Specialise your cities.

I was right. You have not specialised your cities enough. You are working loads of useless sea and forest titles. Neither of those actually do much. Most of your cities are very sub par developed, sevral of them dont actually do anything. You have clearly not expanded fast enough. You also need to specialise more comerce cities since right now you just arent producing much beakers...
