...that when zoomed out to a globe view, there was some kind of outline of the civs cultural borders. I know you can click the 'show culture' button, but that puts up an opaque splotch of color, so you can't see cities and terrain at the same time...

Well, you can wish in one hand, and poo in the other, and see which one fills up faster.

I NEVER use the globe view. Ever. No need for it, IMHO.

you could turn the resources on then zoom out.

They end up coloured the same colour as the culture. You'll only get a basic and not definite view however

Well, it would be nice to be able to see your entire Civilization on one screen, but after it gets to a big enough size, you can only see a piece of it on the screen at a time.
