I really want to get in on these GOMs. I tried downloading the save file and when I opened it, my MAC said I needed an application to open it with.

Help!

Do you have to have a pc? I am thinking so. Man what a bummer.

If anyone could please take a minute and please help me that would be great.

As long as the Mac and PC versions of Civ are on the same patch you should be able to load the save once you launch the game. However, when a new patch comes out it typically shows up for the PC version before it does for the Mac version. I'm fairly certain the Mac and PC version are currently both on the same patch.

From your description is sounds like you might have tried opening the save from outside the game. If that's the case the solution is simple, just launch Civ 5, go to single player and select load, then choose the downloaded game file to play. Of course, for this to work, you have to put the downloaded file in the same location as all your Civ 5 single player saved game files.

Also, if you're trying play the latest GotM you'll need to have the G&K expansion pack.

In the Mac subforum is a pretty good thread where the saves are located and how to access them if you have the app store version. Worked like a charm for me.....
Waiting for GOTM 47

It would be really nice if you provided a link.

I'm looking for the article but cannot seem to find it.

The best place to start appears to be here.

And, in future JohnnyFriedEggs, if you start a thread, please do not post the same question in other threads. It only confuses the answers. Thanks.

Noted. I get anxious. Thanks for the help guys. I am off to a good start and have posted my question regarding a minor hang up in the sited thread.

Obviously, I am a newb and thank you all for your help.

Great community here!

How can I find where my single player saved game files are?

Yes, I have G&K.

Thanks for your help thus far.

I play on a PC, but according to the thread link Leif posted Mac saves should be in this location.
On the Mac:
~/Documents/Aspyr/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/Saves/single (with effect from version 1.0.1.674)

Yeah, I saw that and tried it. No good. Don't know what I am doing wrong. Starting to wonder if I should even be trying to play GoM's yet. Diety??? I've won a Science on Emperor once as Ethiopia.

Anyway, thanks for the help. I am sure I will figure this out eventually.

Thanks.

I also cannot figure out how to get to the saved file. Using a PC and assuming there is a saved game folder under CiV 5 but cannot find anything on the install. I wish I had written down the path when I installed the game.

I just assumed they were in the same folder all my game loads went to.

Would I find it under Steam?

Ok, for the app store version, open finder, then press the alt button and keep it pressed, click on go, then library... Mac sandbox at work here

then look for the folder
container
then >> com.aspyr.civ5campaign
then >> data/library/Civilization V Campaign Edition/saves/single
and now just paste the save file in there

now launch the game
single player, saved games and it should be right there with your other save games

I don't want to make a new topic for this, but I'm lost by the vastness of this page. Trying to find the save file to download so I can start playing, and I'm lost because I see results posted everywhere but not the "official" results topic.

Welcome to GOTM.

The link to the save files are always located in the announcement threads, at the bottom of the first post. The announcement threads are always stickied, so they are above the other threads in the list.

Good Luck

OK found the proper directory and hit save instead of open which worked great. Only one final question. There are 3 saved files. Which one to I load? Assumption is the 11/2 file is with the patch.

Don't know why you have three files for a GOTM game? :dunno:

Load up the 11/2 file and check the start location against the screen shot in the announcement thread, it is matches, you should be all set.
