Hello guys,

Totally hyped for CIV6 now, I started to make a list of features that I would love to see in the new part:

1.) "Ecology": Pollution, rising tides (melting polar regions) and also natural distasters (like eathquakes, tsunamis, vulcanos & storms) could be an interesting addition. To keep it a little less random, a lot of these risks could be tied to certain regions (that might have valuable resources in return).
Also, certain "disease waves" like the plague could be integrated in an interesting way into the game, spread by trade routes, kept at bay by medical buildings or a quarantine mechanism.

2.) Expanded rules for vassals, colonies & rebellions; it would be great to be able to make own cities or other civs as vassals, that would have the chance for rebellion at a certain point. Maybe even rules for terrorism might make sense here.
The more distant a vassal is, or the less power you have more than him, the more likely a rebellion becomes.

3.) Federations & Alliances: similar to the world congress, but free in the choice of members. So there could exist different federations in the world that each have their own agenda and rule set

4.) Expanded diplomacy regarding intrigues: ability to make your spies fake a crime from another civ, to blame them for it; also enable a certain diplomacy (paying gold ?) with barbarians and pirates to attack a certain other civ

5.) Improved Information age / early future: this era could be fleshed out a little more than in CIV5, as there are some really exciting developments in the real world going on, like: VR, cyberwar, gene modifications etc.
Would love to be able to play civ a little bit longer :)

6.) Some more detailed finance mechanism and fleshed out economics: semi-independent mega corporations, financial crisis and a stock exchange of some sorts. This could even start earlier than the modern age in the shape of trade combines

7.) End times: instead of running endlessly with inspecified "future technologies", there could come a point (adjustable ?) when a big catastrophe strikes the world, be it a meteor, a disease or an alien attack (maybe even random). This would be a game changer and could possible throw back humanity into the stone age (starting the game from the scratch)

What do you think about it ?

1. Pollution kept workers\settlers\engineers busy in the first games, climate changes I think should occur only if you failed for a long time to keep pollution in check. In that case you can expect terrain becoming less hospitable randomly. Disease was annoying in 3, and just a growth limit in 4. Plague will just cause immediate re-start of the game, and if a thing that happens every game abandoning it and going back to 5.
2. I missed the whole vassal thing because I never bought expansions for 4. As for rebellions - I'd rather such things can happen if population is very unhappy, a spy incites a revolt or after a long time exposure to a stronger culture - but can be negated by a garrison and some government building.
3. Not sure how it will work game-wise. But maybe agreements with more than one civ at some point for mutual protection, open borders, shared luxuries through "free trade" (to remove having to renegotiate the deals every 30 turns) and such things. If done correctly it may be nice.
4. That could be nice.
5. Up until civ3 genetics gave you cure for cancer, I suppose you can have some sort of 'genetics' that give you even more food. Cyber-war can give more spying options with computers. Of course if your opponents are still in the middle-ages you won't have anyone to do cyber-wars with. Of course I want by this time to get off the planet, or take over it in one of the various ways the game offers me (with culture, diplomacy or by conquest)
6. Corporations used to be a tech, and might now be a civic instead, stock exchange is a building. Crisis is just some kind of natural disaster. maybe some sort of inflation or something that will hit you if you store too much money (so you better use it).
7. I want to win the game, not have a "game over" because of a random reason. Only place to put such event is when time has run up, so instead of a forced retirement you'll get a sudden death - game is over anyway.

1.) what I meant was exactly the situation when pollution globally hits a certain score. If the situation globally gets worse, this could inspire some interesting diplomatic situations, where agreements are needed to keep it at bay "for humanities sake"
Natural isasters might indeed be better tied to certain regions. So if you sttele there, you know the risk. Rich resources in such area could be luring to settle there (e.g. rare materials near a vulcano).

6.) I would love to have megacorporations that get independent from civs. Maybe you could hold shares, but it would not be totally yours. In this way, they would be a global power that you would need to invest in (similar to city states)

7.) I also would suggest that this would only be a mechanism that replaces the "time-out". A kind of sudden-death mechanism that increases tension dramatically to force the game to an end.
The one who manages to survive long enough, will win, if no win condition is met by then.

1. That's how disease in Civ3 worked. It was annoying. Settling in good spots should be encouraged in my opinion. Unless it's rare enough. About cooperation - it will require a world congress to do it, and there won't be. Also difficult with civs in different eras. Should be very careful not to make it annoying.

6. I wouldn't, but a matter of taste. I think you should be able to manage your empire.

7. If you've reached the timeout what happens from there doesn't matter, as long as you get the score when the time is up. I think it's a very specified scenario. Actually - it might fit better as a scenario where you have to out-survive the other in a post apocalyptic world. I think many of the other suggestions would fit better in such a scenario than in a normal civ game.

6- I do like the idea of modern era NGO type entities that act like a modern cross between CS and religions (you have influence w them, and they have influence in your cities)

Do we need a modern age government choice that is a world spanning corporate oligarchy?

Party pooper :p

3) I like the idea of coalitions. If there's ever a world congress, the coalitions should have bonuses unique to itself, so that it's encouraged to have them in the first place.
5) Prefuture stuff is already a part of Civ V. . . but I WOULD like to see more of it. It'd be nice to have the Cure for Cancer wonder come back.
6) I've called for Corporations from Civ IV to come back, but having them independant of nations would be even better.

The User Interface should be made much more modern. Currently, I don't think it matches the art style.
