Situation so far is that each type of luxuries you own gives +5 Happyness independant of the number of cities in your empire. A more realistic approach would be if each type of happyness-ressource might give happyness up to the number of cities in your empire if you own enough sources of this ressource.
Idea for Alternative Happyness-Ressource-Management :
1) Change the Happyness-Ressources to Strategic Ressources like Iron or Coal. Give each ressource the count of 5.
2) Add a new set of buildings with one building-type for each Happyness-Ressource which requires the respective strategic Happyness-Ressource (like Coal for Factory). Buildings might be called [Happyness_Ressource_Name]-Market. Building-Cost can be low. Each building will give +1 happyness.
If you have 10 sources of wine and 12 cities, you can add the wine-market to 10 of your cities and get +10 happyness.
Pro :
- Feels more like Civ4-Happyness-Management.
Cons :
- A small city with pop 1 and alot of happyness-ressource-buildings might add more than +1 happyness to your empire.
- A lot of additional buildings.
