If you could explore any part of the world, where would you go?

ive never left the country, so really anywhere not in the US. probably Italy, from what ive seen its a beautiful country. then Greece. plus you got the whole 'ancient civilization' thing going too, so its interesting

EDIT: I just looked at Perfection's post two or three up, and isnt it ironic that the Earth is "Split Down the Middle?" perf you old joker you.

wait, so you want to explore yourself?

Nice idea, but I don't think you can drive from Alaska to Russia. You need special equipment for that. And don't forget you might need several (many) papers to enter some countries, and some countries have very bad roads (you said you want to drive through the Balkans, but Bulgaria for example has very bad roads).
However I would do this as well.

Bringing papers goes without saying, of course. :D However I know there will be roads that will be poorly maintained and could be even so bad as to just be a clearing through brush. Which is why I mentioned this all-purpose truck. It's pretty rugged and suited for all terrains so I should be able to get to where I want.

I would like to go to China because the people in my school that went said it was cool there. And because I'm Chinese.

The plan is to harbour hop sailing around the world.

Estimated slow track takes 5 years. Itinary is roughly Nth Europe then Caribean and east coast Sth America. Then back to the Med for summer number 2.

Through the Suez into Red Sea and Gulf for east coast Africa and back to Indian sub continent. West coast Thailand, Malaysia Indonesian islands, circumnavigate Australia over to NZ then up the Western Pacific - East coast Thialand, China, Japanese islands, Hawaii, and over to West coast Nth americas. Down the coast to Eastern South Pacific, Galapogous and back to Panama and across to the Med again.

Only need the yacht, - a good second hand one should cost $100 - 150K and about $20k per year for beer

End of next year (2007) the plan begins!!! (maybe)

i have a cunning plan!

i will "walk like an egyptian".

route: Israel > egypt > sudan> ethiopia > hop on a ferry to India > bengal > a smallish tour of the lower east (vietnam-kambodia-thailand > philipines > australia and finally new zealand.
rest a year.
hop to japan > canada > US west coast > US east coast > mexico > central america > brazil > JAMAICA
here i stop and retire!
i start living off the royalties i will make after writing my adventures to be published in a weekly column in the SUN ;)

When I retire in a few years, the wife and I intend to take a 40 foot sailboat and sail around the world.

I miss Brazil very much. After my mission, and after I get some more college under my belt, I'm planning a trip to go back. For sure, Brazil is God's country :)

Probhibly explore the Vatican City, though I do wish to explore Japan more.

@CG - What do you mean, "more"? Have you been there before? It seems like a cool place to go.

Never been to eather place. But if given a choice between the Vatican City and Japan, I would chose Japan first. When I ment "more" I am implying that I am siding more towards that choice.
