The story is that you have to earn it to become a human in your next life, right?
Though I am not sure why running really fast does it. And on second thought - the whole idea makes little sense. How can a being not capable to reflect deserve stuff... Perhaps I just don't know what I am talking about.

Horses also are likely the most dangerous (to humans) domesticated animals.. They can easily do great damage by kicking, for not much reason at all.
But dogs seem far more prone to get miserable. Most stray dogs look rather horribly sad.
