I'm doing the Seven Years' War with Pitt the Elder, James Wolfe and Friedrich II as the main characters. The only music I've begun so far are "Kerls, Wollt Ihr Ewig Leben?" and "I Can Save This Country (And No-one Else Can)," but right now I'm for the most part writing the script.

Some songs I'm definitely doing: the Death of Wolfe, Leuthen, Louisberg Falls, the Invasion of Saxony, Disaster at Ticonderoga, the Last Charge (Kunersdorf), Heinrich's Charge at Roßbach, and Comte de Conflans. Any other critically important scenes?

This thread looks so familiar. :mischief:

Also, wouldn't you want to do Seydlitz at Rossbach?

I got the idea like six months ago or something, and now I'm actually doing it. Applaud me for following my dreams?, or something like that.

You could probably turn Fred's post-Kunersdorf suicide note into a song too. :p

You seem to have made a typo in your title. Shouldn't it be 'I'm composing the first historical rock opera. Suggestions?'

What style of rock is it? As dishonest as it, I would rip the style right from Tool. They would seem to work well with this.

How do you figure that?

Avantasia immediately springs to mind. IIRC, that is mostly themed during the Spanish Inquisition.
Of course, it depends on what you call a 'rock opera', exactly. Historically themed rock albums abound, however. Gravedigger did a whole trilogy: Excalibur, Knights of the Cross, Tunes of War.

Yeah, there are several rock operas in Hungary alone and I suppose there are quite a vast of in the world. So he's definately not making the first one. Anyways, good luck!

EDIT: And at least one of the mentioned hungarian rock operas is about history, too: István a király / Stephen the king.

I suggest that you don't quit your day job.
