imMapex's Sexual Assyrian Guide of Doom and Stuff (Deity Approved)

Does the the word "sexual" in the title implies that this strategy is good for males and females, friend? :D

Good read.

Nope. This strategy is for men only. And thats not because Im sexist or anything. My Dad was actually a Womens Rights activist. My Mom would have been one too if my Dad let her.

You know, I don't even really care how super effective this is at Deity or not or anything like that at this point.

This guide is A++, and I know this because I'm smiling like a right now. The writing is amazing

I did need an excuse to play an actually war heavy game for once, though, so I might be trying this out on a lower difficulty once the guide is done. I know this is particularly targeted towards Deity (obviously on lower difficulties the AI has less and less tech to steal) but I couldn't trust myself with Deity yet I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of it, so keep it up!

Thanks for the kind words. Now dont tell anyone about that $20 I slipped you to say that. That would be embarrassing.

I love this guide, you talk like me when I'm drunk. I.E. most of the day.

Assyria is the win you grab 3 weak cities to catch up in techs then you monitor the tech situation if someone runs away you blow up his cities.

And those towers are OP as hell. 12 strength nothing can keep up with them.

I wish I could play this game drunk. I start getting too handsy whenever I do. I always start making dumb deals with Maria Theresa just so that I can receive her love

Maria Theresa is one sexy vixen

"and even struck a guard from Skyrim in the knee"

You, sir, win the internet! :D

Also - very creative build; props.

Thanks, mate....this is not only the best written guide I've encountered but it also has convinced me to try Assyria out and I couldn't help thinking of the initial warrior as "Bill"...

Respect!

I tried this even though it took me completely out of my comfort zone as a builder. Killed off England and then took 2 CS. Two civs declared war on me so I took another CS that was allied to one of the civs. Now I'm losing money each turn, have 6 unhappy and 5 more civs have declared war on me.

I'm not comfortable at all!

K getting my update on as we speak. The downside of taking over CS's is that the AI hates you. If you noticed in my one screenshot, China and Austria were at war with each other. The moment I took over Monaco, they made peace and both DoW'd me. Highly recommend just taking over a Civ and planting 1-2 more cities of your own to hit 6-7.

Reason why I took Monaco (Ill put this in the guide too) is that the only Civ near me was Attila and I wouldve had to go through jungle + mass hill to get anywhere. Not only that, if youve ever tried taking over a city against Attila early game, good luck ever holding it. Battering Rams and Horse Archer galore is just brutal to deal with when you capture a city. Monaco was next to a mountain and had Mt Kilimanjaro in it as well, which was another deciding factor.

Anyway keep at it! The only reason why you are losing gold + are unhappy is the fact you have so many people DoWing you (cant get Caravans up, no trade partners). Dont kill so many CS's next time and I bet you can nail it!

"The forest chop shaves off 20 hammers." - Mmmm, my chops chop 6 and 3. 20 only later in the game. How come ?

Epic first post for an epic guide.

10/10, will read again. :)

And convinced me to name my first born son bill and to start growing a beard :goodjob:

Will try to get more confortable on immortal before tickling the gods though.

Joined civfanatics last month. Been saving my first comment for someone special. You, sir, have just taken my CivFanatics commentating virginity.

It was unsatisfying and took about 30 seconds.

Well done.

Nice guide , I tried it out and it worked out pretty well.

There are only 2 things that bother me (I play at King currently):

1) How exactly do you deal with the warmonger hate? I have like 2-3 from each lux, and noone wants to give me more than 2 gpt after I wiped Indonesia and Greece ...

2) Is there some bug with capturing settlers? I hit 2 of Indonesia's settlers, and both times I ended up with Worker instead ...

Actually there is 3rd thing - why do we need 5-6 cities? Isn't it better to just raze everything except capitols and extremely good cities?

I play on King too :)

1) I razed cities without new luxuries, this way I keep geting new luxuries on my conquest and thus keeping happiness up, annexing and building happiness buildings help too.

2) It works as intended, AFAIK, all time I had been capturing settlers, it turns into worker, Kings and above, not sure with lower difficulty

3) I'd keep some cities as a "hub" to put a road between Assur and other capitols, if any.

Awesome guide, I have tried it with some success on deity but am kinda lost on what to do after the opening 100 turns. Would be awesome if you updated it!

imMapex, what's your timeline for early attacks on Deity?

I've just tried this out, but by the time i was finishing my first Tower (near T70), Rome DoWed me with 6 Ballistea, 4 Legions a couple spears and warriors and a few chariots. Might be just plain bad luck to end up with Rome as the nearest neighbour and have only Calendar luxes nearby (quite a delay before i could get contruction) but still, provided how fast the AI can churn out military units, it's not that easy to get your Towers next to a City to attack it (might be much harder than actually taking out the city. Do you really succeed with only 4 CBs, one siege tower and a warrior?

Fun to read anyway.

After playing and winning Emperor with the 3 city tradition start described in these forums, I'm now playing this Sexual strategy. Although I'm often not sure what to do after the first few conquerings, it's definately fun as hell to play :)
