Imperial Trash A+

First summary of games, based on reports only

Cabert (this is the easiest for me :p)
6 cities, 42 pop points
no world wonders (GL under way, finally)
11 turns from edu
no foreign contact

Giaur
Cities: 8 or 9
Population: 50
lightbulbed philo, but missed taoism. can research edu
contact (and trade) with gilgamesh
no mention of new wonders

Cam_h
7 cities, 51 pop
The University of Sankore built, in addition to those already done
Education and philo in, can research liberalism in 10, but can only grab few techs with it (nationalism being the best :()
grabbed taoism
no contact yet

remco
10 cities, 48 pop (and a few universities ;))
Hanging Gardens and university of Sankore built
edu in
no contact yet

My opinion
my own save is under all others in every aspect (I have a religion, so I'm better than giaur in 1 aspect :p), no more comments
After that, cam is ahead in techs and can continue to expand.
Remco isn't far behind, with 1 more wonder.
Giaur got contact with gilgamesh, and can trade a bit.

Seems rather tight.

I must say I regret playing home (it's like one less useful save).

Analysis:

cabert:
-Clearly behind in cities, pop, tech rate, wonders.
+At the same time still researching education so in that respect not so far behind.

Cam
-Only 7 cities and 5 workers.
-Mixed gene pool in capital
+Good tech rate
+Strong population

Giaur
+Strong Tech rate
+Good city placement for levees
+Made contact with Gilgamesh
-Quite far from education (further than cabert)

Mine
+10 cities, potential for 1 more near wheat
+Pure engineer gene pool in capital (except 1pt great artist from National epic) will generate several Great Engineers during the game.
+First universities built
-Slightly lower tech rate at the moment
-2 cities not on the river...

@Giaur: Why didnt you build academies when you got them in you major commerce cities? Your tech rate could be over 200 and they last till the end of time.

Seems like a waste to have them sitting around. Unless you have a master plan that involves 3 einsteins...

@Cam_H
Very strong production and very strong research. One spoiled barb city (loses fish), but one other city can get that fish. 2 academies - very nice. Education in, but no option of Astronomy yet. Strong thing is that no golden age was triggered yet. UoS is not my favourite, but helps in isolated start. No contact despite I gave the clue :-[. Moai Statue - nice.

@Cabert
Your save is not hopeless, but you constitute the tail. Medicore research, medicore production. Past mistakes (delaying expansion) hurts now, is not it? With low research I would lightbulb Education rather than research it. No great person was born yet. Your save is better than mine in 2 aspects at least: yu did not wasted Golden Age. You have more cities with state religion. btw. this 8exp flanking unit asks itself to open HE. Moai statue - nice.

Remconius:
Strong research, strong production. No Moai Statue yet. Cities are small, but there is solid number of workers for such high number of cities. Confucianism present in all cities. Very impressive mechanism - one settler escorted by one worker and one missionary. I wonder if Bactra will allow you to make first contact after borders expand. Clear great person pool with guarantee of engineer balances losing golden age - but I still favour mixed GP's. I remind you that 1 wonder equals 2/3 of a specialist. 2 academies - very nice. Unit with 10 exp - great job. Education in, but no philosophy yet. Anyway, I guess delaying liberalism to get Astro was a good choice. And thx for pointing that you can switch civics under goldenage with no anarchy - that will help me a lot in the future :)

Giaur:
Very strong research. Medicore production. 4 cities have access to river (and one more place for a river city). Cities are small, but using Caste will allow me to let them grow to happiness cap. Weak infra, but there are some forests left. Also only strong tiles are worked. No unit with 10exp. Golden age wasted :[. I have developed specialist economy (with prioritizing merchants) while 3 scientists are waiting for orders. I grabbed islam and I have monopol for Spiral Minaret, but no UoS built yet. 11 merchants and 1 engineer are assigned under pacifism, but I cannot make use of it now (no state religion present in many of them).

@Remconius:
That are considerations of mixed great person pool. I just did not know, that there will be so many of them. I counted on 1 engineer at least.

edit: My plan was to lightbulb Education. Now I can lightbulb half Astro as well :]. Of course Academies are nice, but llightbulbing is specialization of scientists. I do not expect that my save will be elected. But if it will be so, you will have free hands and you could choose destination of those scientists.

 - well done again Remco.

 - nothing quite like a secret ballot! I thought my vote could have tied it - I was quite divided between two of the games.

I guess Cabert will play home again. It's easy to win with his recent version. Only it could last longer, unless Cabert decide on some invasion.

I guess I will play both versions and choose my own. Of course you do not know about that ;)
The trouble with Remco's version is city placement. Some cities cannot be cottaged entirerly. The capital lacks of food. Sid sushi is a rescue, or windmills instead of mines or farms instead of cottages. Few specialists will born. The infra and all other staff are impressive. Remco's Infra is ahead of mine for about 10 turns. And if I still will be keeping to the current status, could be worse (for me).

Leaving player opportuniny to choose the save is bad idea, because city placement can discourage him. Sooner or later infra should equalize in those completely different saves (research as well), especially in BtS where one specialist can trigger golden age, and most advanced tech will show who made the finest work :). I am not happy with my save, I criticize all the others, but believe me I made many mistakes. Cities are small, infra is weak and I underestimated the power of whiping. No early religion striked, but enough with grumbling. Tommorow at the latest day after tommorow the report. It's really interesting playing different games and comparing them. Imagine a version of a map, where you are alone and your task is to launch the spaceship. No tech trading. I wonder what would be the record for a particular leader.

btw. Remind me what victory are we aiming for? Because I am aiming for domination

edit: If you feal offended, tell me without hesitation. I will shut up.
